  • Even though he plays for the Steelers this is unfortunate. I hate to say it, but a lot of these things are usually bad people players associate themselves with. Top that off with the fact he was playing with injuries all last year and this might seriously hurt his career.

Remind me there is another Adams, a former decent CB, who the Browns let get away and has been a minstay of the Broncos secondary. In a Browns secondary that is weak, overall, Adams would have been a great presence. His loss in FA really hurt this team.

Ya, we were probably a playoff team last year if we had kept Mike Adams around for one more year.

First off he is a safety, second he played medictre last year.

Nothing but negativity, how is it that this screen name hasn't been changed yet? Cmon Mod's give him a more appropriate name.

It really isn't about the Steelers. It's about a person.

I hope he makes a full recovery and plays game 1.

Still convinced this is Ghoolie trolling us. Anyway, as stated I'll be interested to see if Adams knew the people who did this. I believe Sean Taylor knew the guys who broke into his house and killed him.

If he knew the people who did it, they would be in jail, not trying to trail one of them down by using the cell phone they recovered from the scene. Oh an he flat out said he didn't reconize who they were. You know people can get robbed and stabbed and NOT know who their attackers were, even football players.

You're not listening to what I'm saying here dude. I'm not saying these guys were best buddies or anything. A lot of times when these guys get robbed it's soon after flashing money and stuff at a club or party. You can say I'm wrong here but the stats speak for themselves. Mike Adams was terrible. They brought in Usama Young to replace him and he did as well as Adams....or should I say as equally poorly.

  • i feel bad for the guy BUT he probably did bring it on himself. as jrb noted a lot of these guys get paid and can't help but show it off. i.e. pac man jones making it rain. plaxicco packin heat like a gangsta. it's the 'non-white' mentality (can i get away with this one at least? geez.....). big ben raping girlz in the bathrooms.

"ain't nothing good ever happen after 2 am at da club."

btw if he got stabbed in the gut he'll be fine, seeing as he looked like a beached whale the last time i saw him.

i wonder if when the guy stuck him if gravy came out?

Mike Adams wasn't showing anything off. He apparently didn't even have his keys but was just outside standing by his truck. I'm guessing maybe using the phone or something. A eye witness reported seeing 4 guys approach him and held him at gun point. He wasn't doing anything wrong. It was a group of hood rats trying to rob a guy. I'm not sure why you'd pick a 6'7 dude tho. I'd also love to know how this is going to effect his career. He's supposed to be ready for training camp. He's also in great shape Mik from what I've seen and red.

  • BUT where are you at that puts you in that situation and why?

hell if i had millions i wouldn't even go out. i'd have the party at my house, invitation only, security guards deep.

just DUMB moves by these guys.

sure he shouldn't have to worry about such things but in today's society you do, even if you don't have millions of dollars. from what tomlin said he was on the 'south' side (i guess that's equiv to cleveland's east side) which means you shouldn't be there unless you are looking for drugs, prostitutes or going to some ghetto-ass club.

That literally doesn't disprove anything I said in the slightest. I'm not saying he did or didn't or he deserved it, but a lot of guys in the NFL white or black have a way of flashing their riches in clubs or restaurants. The 'hood rats' could have been scoping the dude for days. Heck thats what happens in high society too a lot. I don't know if I'm right, it's just what happens more often than not.

Well the South Side of Pittsburgh isn't the ghetto. There is VERY limited street parking so it's not like you can post up in front of a bar and "flash' your riches and this didn't happen because he was flaunting anything. Lately there has been some sh.it drumming up in the South Side and the police have ramped up their efforts as a direct result. It's just a really crap circumstance. Now I agree with your assessment otherwise, but it doesn't apply to Mike Adams. The guy has been nothing but humble, especially with the Steelers taking a chance on him and making him meet certain requirements to stay on their draft board. He's been on the straight and narrow since getting drafted. Just a really unfortunate situation, thankfully he's going to be okay...football or not.

Mik that's stupid. People are social animals. Rich, poor, whatever. I sure as hell wouldn't live like a damn hermit with a bunch of security and you fellas are Pittsburgh clueless. The Southside is NOT a bad area. There are a TON of bars but it's a well developed, heavily frequented area by all age groups. However at night because of the massive amount of bars, over 100 trouble can stir up. It's no where CLOSE to the east side of Cleveland. I've also never seen a prostitute down there lol. Stop trying to assume what went down and do some research on the area. Geez fellas.

Or they don't. 95% of thefts are crimes of opertunity. Theifs always go for the easy money when they decide to steal. Are they going to break into an equally nice car down the streat when they don't have the keys or are they going to jump the guy standing outside of he's vehicle? Money has nothing to do with it.

  • but you guys don't STILL get it. how come the biggest stars in all sports don't get caught in those situations?

    1. they have prudent people watching over them that will advise them against putting themselves 'out there' and if the star decided to do so anyway would flock him like a goose landing.

    2. the biggest stars know that every move they make will be caught on camera by someone somewhere and be posted all over the web in seconds that something happens.

    3. sure you don't have to have money to get jacked but that's why you stay away from 'jackville'.

    duh.

  • Let's also keep in mind this wasn't outside a bar or a club. He was standing outside his house.
