I was definetly wrong about that one... it happens...

I am surprised they didn't give Davis and Alford at least some training camp time.
I am not sure that the signing of Bolen hurts Smelley, who is primarily slotted at TE as it does Marecic...though, Marecic was the only actual designated FB on the entire roster. It at least gives him some competition.

Scouting reports and articles I'm reading out of Jacksonville are all saying Bolen is more of a runner, and is a major liability in pass protection. They say he has the talent to be an offensive threat. Lucky for him he's probably only competing with Marecic, so if he can catch a ball, he makes the team...

Obie-Won is getting all the reps when there's an actual fullback, which is like 20% of the time.

I really like saving the roster spot instead of wasting it on a true FB who does zilch for the team, BUT I have concerns. I'm not a coach, just wondering who lead blocks near the goaline or on 4th and 1 if you don't have a true FB? I've seen TEs, RBs, DLinemen, etc... lineup in the backfield, so if we cut Bolen, Marecic, and Smelley I wonder who fills that important role...
-
word on the street is Smelley has the fullest back...i say he blocks in the RZ.
but Ogbonizzle gets all the carries Tr3nt doesn't. me thinks Bolen sticks around on ST while he memorizes Chudorv's playbook...while Owen submits his rezy to trucking companies.

We're gonna keep Smelley and Bolen?? don't see that happening... can only keep 53...

true and quite possible they dont but as Gip mentioned Brad could count as a TE while Brock sticks as a ST'er. maybe it's my lack of familiarity w Barnidge and lack of faith in Cameron and Davis but I just can't seem to give up on Stinky yet.
as far as BB im not sure if his PSquad lives are used up if they run out of spots on the 53...but if teams can make room for the Sorensons and Ventrones of the world they can always find creative ways to keep versatile, tough, smart players they like as well.
and if anyone believes D Lewis, Bjax, or Montario are all locks they're counting ghosts, so that leaves some space too.

Jackson is a long shot. Lewis and Hardesty WILL make the roster.

ghosts...

Lewis will make the team for sure as he will be on PUP list and won't count against the 53 man total.

Its definitely worth looking at. I like oby a lot, he's got guts and skills. What worries me is what's gonna happen when he meets the Patrick Willis' and the London Fletchers, and the Luke Kuechly's in the hole? I'd like to think he can handle his own but its a big IDK for me. So why not look at some talented true FB's.
