Mingo injury may point to more serious problem

This is why I laugh at stupidsteelerfan who thinks that the 1970s Steelers would have been oh so much better than the 1950s Browns...where they use the argument that they were bigger faster stronger. The answer is: NOT.
Players from the 50s were just about the same height/weight as players of the 70s.
The Oline of the 50s Browns was about the same as the Oline of the 70s Steelers.
The difference in height/weight has come SINCE the 70s.
Linemen then were on average 260 pounds (your link does not go back to the 50s...but I would say that OL were about 250 pounds then)
But now, compared to the 70s, linemen are 50 pounds heavier.
Probably around the time the Steelers started the NFL trend of taking steroids.

Oh sure only steeler players used steroids, you ignorant putz. Pretty sure the chargers pioneered it and there are several people on rcord saying more than half the league was on anabolics in the late 60`s early 70`s.
-
didn't lyle alzado die of brain cancer attributed to steroid abuse?
and didn't he play for the browns once he left oakland?
testing for steroids in the nfl is like sweeping a dirty photo of anthony weiner under the rug.
and now HGH? pleez.

Just like we're seeing smaller, faster ILBs, we're gonna see lighter, quicker edge rushers. Some day, some time, does a team run the ball to victory and force change? I don't know. The Colts took away Weeds deep ball and while Trent ran well, you can't keep up in today's league that way. Long drives are getting harder for some reason, subject to penalties that put you right where the defense wants you, behind the sticks.
Just a few days ago, Grossi wrote (basically): "Concerns at RG, second corner, and safety. None matter if QB play is great."
Bam. All of those will look just fine if Weeds is lighting it up.

I think the FS position is pretty well taken care of.
Some may say that we should have taken care of the RG/FS/CB positions better in the draft...with those picks that were traded. Some merit to that argument....though the Browns did take a CB(McFadden), Safety(Slaughter) and OG (Gilkey). Its just that those last 2 were 6th/7th rounders, not 3rd/4th.
By the way, did you notice that they misspelled Slaughter's name on his jersey? It was Slaugter. No H.

Mingo is being reported as "probable" for game two. He has a big doctor's appointment next week but everybody's letting out a sigh of relief because he's jogging and lifting with no discomfort at all, no further symptoms. If he's cleared, he still likely sits out game one, returns in game two.
I'm betting you'll never, ever see him on specials again. That's why we're bringing in all these waiver wire linebackers.

First of all, I accept the apologies from all those in charge.
Mingo's injury doesn't bother me so much as his being too small to play DE and not being a step slower than the top LBs. I hink he will be another Courtney Brown, and see him getting run over.

Step slower ... what?
Courtney Brown was a 4-3, 3-point stance defensive end. Mingo is going to be a 3-4 speed pass rusher. They are not the same animal. Mingo is a blur, Ms. Ghoolie, this is one player you don't want to put on your hate list, for there will be egg to be worn about the face.

Also you should know, as one "in charge", I do not apologize.
Everybody that walks in here takes a hit, and if you are going to be all bitter and shit ... good luck to ya.

Mingo fits the new breed perfectly. Girth isn't much of an issue in a speed league. He's just supposed to be quicker/faster around the edge than anybody else... and word so far is that he's lived up to that. Peter King certainly thinks so.
He had his doctor's appointment yesterday and all signs point to game two. They're being a little extra cautious but it seems like he's fine now.
-
I think we can win the game vs Miami without Mingo but feel we might need him vs the Ravens.

Nobodys talking about girth, just some extra muscle. He looks fragile compared to most. I don't think he is going to make it.

He may make it, but totally agree on needing to add muscle... dude looks like a rail... as opposed to LT with whom he was laughably compared to earlier.
Solution may simply be to locker him next to TR and let osmosis work its magic.

Mad? Lol...seriously, can't you do any better than high school smack? I'm embarrassed for you.Don't get mad bitch. Take your midol and stfu.
And here you are talking about girth. Would you consider von miller too small as well?
Never mind....that's a football question. Not your strong suit.
-
I think he'll get a lot of sacks around the edge. I don't think "not making it" is a realistic projection right now for a #6 overall who had an amazing camp and one prominent writer called the best rookie he saw in 32 camps.
A little like predicting snow in L.A. It COULD happen but almost certainly won't.

Well, haven't seen anything from him yet, still waiting from the football guru.
