What Did We All Really Expect? !

The Browns Board

  • I'd say you can't trade a lot of picks to take a position that isn't QB, but I guess Dimitroff of Atlanta would disagree and he took a pretty great player from us.

But aside from a QB, I'd say a dominant pass rusher is the one position you might trade up to get. And then Alo would remind me that a lot of the better pass rushers weren't actually top 10 picks. Or even first round.

Clowney will be a 4-3 DE so I doubt he'll seriously be in the Browns discussion, especially after Kruger/Mingo/Groves. If the Browns need a QB, they'll trade the entire draft to get the guy they want because a second corner and a RG can be round in free agency. TE, too, for that matter.

if weeden plays decent and we go .500 or better, the cb (or wr....depending on what happens with gordon and little this year) SHOULD be the pick next year. hopefull everyone has their heads on straight this year and next year we're drafting for depth.

  • Your lips to God's ears. If Weeden is good this year... and he's never gonna be in a better situation more tailored to his skills... then the Browns are looking at positions that are a lot easier to fill (2nd CB, maybe guard, maybe another TE, who knows at WR) unless, as you said, some youngsters step up.

The Browns not only have a shitload of draft picks, they have a ton of money they're almost compelled to spend. In fact, I can't see them wanting that many rookies joining the team, so they'll likely consolidate into fewer (but higher) picks after signing 3-4 significant free agents.

Im wondering if it would be in the best interest of the browns to look at Johnny Manziel despite some of the issues he's up against...His arm is better than people think and, I think he could have the skill set needed to run this offense..But the ball is squarely in Weedens court,,,

Hey come on now, his nick name is Johnny Football.

  • Reading from the "insiders" that the Browns did ZERO game planning for the Colts (varies from team to team) and at least seemed to go out of their way to show almost nothing of what they'll actually be doing against Miami. Used way less shotgun than they'll actually use, blitzed way less than they actually will.

Also, same "insiders" say the Browns' brass and coaches seemed legitimately unfazed by the showing... and in fact, Trent Richardson seemed unusually psyched about the offense and Weeden, like he was a kid trying to keep a secret.

A little odd, yeah. But blurring through game, looked to be the case. Tells me the team is really happy with what they're doing and now want to show as little of it as possible.

Yeah...like we need another (first down) Touchdown Tommy Vardell...I feel ya...That to Me is still one of the big head scratchers of a draft pick this team has ever made...Belichump and Lomtardi really dropped the ball on that draft.

Try to tell Nickers the "super fan" that knows everything about football this information...he just wants to burn on the team and find flaws.

Hey Nickers (fag name) Why don't you crawl into your steeler hole and jerk of Ben. Or you could try being a Browns fan and be a little optimistic!

"IF" weeden plays decent. We could just tank the season and waste another pick on a useless qb, Taj Boyd here we cum!

I wouldn't put too much into the 3rd pre-season game. No real plays were likely called. They looked good the first two games and bad yesterday. Lets see how they do against Miami.

Well,I'm not in anyway saying the sky is falling..It's just an overall synapses and concern for the effort or,lack thereof...I still expect by mid season that this team can/will turn it on...

    Boyd? I'll pass...

Johnny Football?? The next Doug Flutie... but with an attitude...

if (Clownie's) smart and if he already has agents he's signed with you won't see him play one down this season.

I watched Clownie in his season opener vs. NC and clearly he took your advice...

no doubt. believe me with what all the talking heads have been saying about the kid even before the season it was almost a given that he's going to approach the game this year with the mentality of whatever happens, don't get hurt.

and taj boyd? fuck no. he's the next jamarcus russell. a good defense will make that kid look like toast (well he sorta looks like burnt toast now....hee heee). his throws were coming out looking like the ducks in du cunt, the old nintendo shoot 'em up.

  • Clowney will have an awful season. He is going to draw doubke and triple teams and Sutton will benefit.

That said, Clowney is one of the most athletically talented freaks I have ever personally met and should be taken #1 overall.

I am a large guy, 6'5" 340 lbs, ran a 4.8 40 and had a 34" vert when I met him in high school...and he made me feel like a crippled fat midget. He shits talent every morning. It's all about whether he can stay in shape and keep his head on straight.

well i guess there isn't any ghoulie wipes goin on.

  • Tajh is freaking awesome. Great arm, Rodgers-like release, and one of the best all-around kids out there. A plus for any locker room, as one coach recently put it. He'll kill in interviews, just like RG3.

Love that he stayed another year. He's going to be a very experienced QB with crazy numbers in D1 and history says that's a huge indicator of success (opposite example, Mark Sanchez).

Bridgewater and Boyd could well go 1-2 unless Clowney goes back to being Clowney.
