I Know I had this topic covered somewhat in my Survey, but I thought it might warrant its separate thread.

The proposition is that the NFL is as deep in Quality QBs right now as it has ever been. Lets see, shall we:

Now we have the likes of old pros like: Brady/P.Manning/E.Manning/Brees/Rivers/BR/Palmer/Schaub/Romo/A.Smith/Brees/Cutler/Vick

    Young veterans like: Ryan/Freeman/Stafford/Sanchez?/Flacco/

And the new "stars": Wilson/Kapernick/Ponder/Bradford/Tannehill/Gabbert/Luck/Weeden/Dalton/RGIII/Newton/Locker and the like

Are these guys overall a better group than the QBs that were around in times past?

Lets go back first 20 years ago to 1993. Here was the crop of NFL QBs playing at that time:

Elway, Favre, Moon, Odonnel, Esiason, Kelly, Steve Young, Hebert, Bledsoe, Hostetler, Aikman, McMahon, Harbaugh, Humpries, Everett, Marino, Montana, Testaverde.

    Better then....or now?

    Lets. look at 1986:

Marino, Schroeder, Kosar, Elway, Moon, O'Brien, Kelly, Esiason, Simms, Eason, Fouts, Lomax, Krieg, Kramer, Young, Plunkett, Jaworski, Cunningham, Ferguson, Danny White, Everett, McMahon, Montana

    Better then or now?

    Let's look at 1976:

Tarkenton, Zorn, Hart, Staubach, Fouts, Bert Jones, Ken Anderson, Sipe, Pastorini, Grogan, Stabler, Griese, Dickey, Plunkett, Namath, Kilmer, Bradshaw, Theisman, Todd

    Better then, or now?

    How about 1966:

Jurgenson, Brodie, Gabriel, Ryan, Tarkenton, Unitas, Meredith, Starr, Morrall, Plum, Nelsen, Namath, Lamonica, Blanda, Hadl, Kemp, Dawson, Charley Johnson,

    How about 1950:

Layne, Tittle, Lujack, Graham, Thompson, Waterfield, Van Brocklin, Baugh, Luckman, Conerly

What we don't know about the current crop is how many are going to bust out....

I think there are more really good quarterbacks playing right now than ever before. More guys who could drop 400/4 on you than ever before.

Interesting stat from last nights destruction:

Unitas, Elway, Tarkenton, Staubach, Starr, Griese, Young, Bradshaw ... never had a game where they threw for 300 yards and 5 TDs.

Peyton Manning did it in one HALF last night.

Is that the QBs....or the rules that allow for more passing? Or the systems. No bump and run. QBs wear skirts, etc.
