The Browns brass has proven they will NOT spend on a CB. They had chances this off season, and they decided against it. As soon as Haden is a free agent, he is gone

and it has hurt us in both losses already this year.

i don't care if he's a FA, a #1 draft pick or an UDFA just get us somebody on the other side of haden that can PLAY!

Banner was burned in Philly by signing high priced CB's. He is NOT going to do it here.

And it could of happened to the jets, or the cowboys or anyone else. No one knew that he was going to start laying eggs after the raiders.,
  • This board is ridiculous

So much around the QB is crappy...

... we've gone through QB after QB for years...

But the solution is another QB (and not even that great of one)

My solution is a better head coach, Start from there and go forth

  • No to Freeman, he has his own issues. I would rather draft a new QB if needed. And as to the corner issue, there were some reasonable available corners in FA, the FO just declined it could be for cost reasons, given the amount they already spent. They screwed that up and left that a glaring spot we still need to address in the next draft.

  • As with many areas, including QB, the FO was not sure what they had DB-wise. Now they do... so I expect they'll address our needs. Not going to get bent out of shape unless they do not.

As for Freeman... I'd take the 2010 Freeman in a heartbeat, but can't be sure that wasn't a one-off, career year. He's got the size and athleticism you dream of for a QB. Clearly he is not responding to the new staff in TB.

  • It sounds like Greg Schiano is just a douchebag.

If the rumors are true that he's undermining the GM in order to get full control of the roster, I believe you fire him and send his ass to D3 Shippensburg.

Dominik has built a young and talented team, with Bowers, McCoy, Spence, Te'o-Nesheim, David, Barron and Bowers on the defensive side of the ball.

They were a top 10 defense in most statistical facets as well as a top 10 offense in Yds/game and top 15 in Pts/game.

They have a young nucleus to build around and Schiano trying to undermine that is complete horseshit.

  • Shippensburg is D2.

And I want no part of Freeman or Schiano. Ever.

What do you have against Shippensburg?

Nothing at all. Raab Himself from CKY/Jackass fame went there. As did John Kuhn and Brent Grimes.

But it's a completely different market than Tampa Bay and if a guy is pulling something like that, he needs to be taken back to square one.

    It was a joke...

  • Buccaneers have officially benched Freeman in favor of Glennon. Word is Freeman is on the trading block. Anyone interested? There are only a few teams that can handle taking on his contract, Cle, Buf, and Jax. To me our only competition for him is Jax. I say we dangle a 3rd or 4th round pick and see if they bite. Could you imagine if Chud and Norv could work their magic on him and get him back on track. I think he can be a top 10 QB in the NFL with the right coaching. Why not try? It would be amazing to have 2 first round picks and not have to worry about a QB.

  • He's completed the lowest percentage of passes in the league the last three years, the kiss of death (53.5). He's basically Weeden only worse. He's a f/a at the end of the year so the trade market won't be super hot for him and his 7.5 mill. He's less mobile and less accurate than next year's probable backup, Brian Hoyer... and his own team didn't vote him captain, rare for a vet QB. He gets the dreaded "L" word (as in, lazy)... although I know people who knew him at KSU and he's also an extremely nice, good, and intelligent guy. He's very "laid back," let's say, and may not love it enough.

He'd be a very expensive one year rental or try-out. I don't see it.

  • If we get rid of a RB with a 3.5 ypc avg, why in the world would we want a QB with a 45percent completion rate? NO, NO,NO!

High upside, low risk. The guy was playing good until Schiano took over. Hes only got this year left on his contract and if we can get him for cheap then why not?
  • I don't see the point.

We have three quarterbacks and we are accumulating draftpicks like crazy if we need to go after a franchise QB.

Freeman has proven he is not a franchise QB.

I don't think the guy has proven he's incapable of being a quality starter. Give the guy some true offensive coaches and see what happens. Say we give em a 4th and a 6th, what are the chances the guys we woulda drafted even make the team? 20-35%? I say pick him up and keep him on the bench and see if he shows the commitment and knowledge to run this offense by the end of the year, and you can make a decision on if he can be the guy or not. If you dig for gold long enough eventually you'll find it.

I really don't see a big jump in quality from Weeden to Freeman, and Weeden is already on the roster and cheaper.

These guys are going to draft their own QB ... unless Hoyer or Weeden suddenly becomes a pro bowler and leads us to the playoffs.

  • This would be huge, I have always been a fan of Freeman. What do you think? Trade for him?
