Josh Freeman

He's completed the lowest percentage of passes in the league the last three years, the kiss of death (53.5). He's basically Weeden only worse. He's a f/a at the end of the year so the trade market won't be super hot for him and his 7.5 mill. He's less mobile and less accurate than next year's probable backup, Brian Hoyer... and his own team didn't vote him captain, rare for a vet QB. He gets the dreaded "L" word (as in, lazy)... although I know people who knew him at KSU and he's also an extremely nice, good, and intelligent guy. He's very "laid back," let's say, and may not love it enough.
He'd be a very expensive one year rental or try-out. I don't see it.

If we get rid of a RB with a 3.5 ypc avg, why in the world would we want a QB with a 45percent completion rate? NO, NO,NO!

High upside, low risk. The guy was playing good until Schiano took over. Hes only got this year left on his contract and if we can get him for cheap then why not?If we get rid of a RB with a 3.5 ypc avg, why in the world would we want a QB with a 45percent completion rate? NO, NO,NO!

I don't see the point.
We have three quarterbacks and we are accumulating draftpicks like crazy if we need to go after a franchise QB.
Freeman has proven he is not a franchise QB.

I don't think the guy has proven he's incapable of being a quality starter. Give the guy some true offensive coaches and see what happens. Say we give em a 4th and a 6th, what are the chances the guys we woulda drafted even make the team? 20-35%? I say pick him up and keep him on the bench and see if he shows the commitment and knowledge to run this offense by the end of the year, and you can make a decision on if he can be the guy or not. If you dig for gold long enough eventually you'll find it.Zombo said:

I really don't see a big jump in quality from Weeden to Freeman, and Weeden is already on the roster and cheaper.
These guys are going to draft their own QB ... unless Hoyer or Weeden suddenly becomes a pro bowler and leads us to the playoffs.

This would be huge, I have always been a fan of Freeman. What do you think? Trade for him?

Oh boy. Is this rumor?

Please delete one of these threads, it showed up as if it didn't work, when I posted it

i've been a fan of hoyer for a long time and he just proved me right this past week, but if they feel freeman would be the best QB on this team then hell yea! also, why wait for tate? trade for him this year. im sick of "next year" push for the playoffs this year dammit! we have the pieces to win games! now fill the major holes and win 10 games. id be very happy if we get freeman because that means we see something in him

Not only no, but HELL NO.

He's a FA at season's end and has a 45 percent completion avg. Maybe a bag of cotton candy but not much more for him.

a change of scenery and some confidence should get him playing to his potential again. and i think (and obviously the browns do too) that he'd fit in good in our offense

No way....Please no.

i dont understand, why would everyone be sooo against griving away a 6th or 7th rounder and bringing him in and letting him show what he can do? if he doesnt work out, so what?

That was one year a few years ago. And the past 2 years have been horrible. If what we already have doesn't pan out then we should get one from the draft or proven FAs. I do think it takes a QB and HC combo to win regular in the NFL and just maybe we have it but Freeman? Too damaged for too long. No accuracy left in that arm either!

@AlfieBCC @afc2nfc @NickESPN1480 Uh no, on Browns. Just benched our version, robbed Colts, drafting a top QB with wheels.

I'm proud of this because I think Higdon's fantastic, as is his site (DraftBrowns). He's in Alo's class.
