Best team in the AFCN

The Browns Board

  • Of the four teams, we're probably not the best. We're honestly still behind Baltimore and probably the Bengals, once they get a decent QB. However, we have by far and away the biggest up arrow in the division. Steelers equally downward pointing, bengals slightly up, ravens about the same.

There are very few positions where the Ravens are better than us. You can go QB and RB and that's it. With the receiver and TE injuries QB isnt as much a factor with them now.

I don't think the Bengals are superior at any position although they do have 2 good tightends as opposed to 1 great one. Gordon can rival AJ Green. Defense is at worst a wash.

  • We have more to prove on field, but we certainly are IN the conversation of "who's best in the AFC North". I DO believe we have the best overall Coaching staff in the division & the talent gap is closing fast.

    Mike

  • To be the best AFCN team means that we win the division. That will play out. With the D playing the way it has been and getting better, can keep us in it with any team. I see a smoothness and swagger in the team that has been sorely missed and I think the new owner has a lot to do with that. Best means playoffs....it can happen

  • The upside news, is that later on, the Browns will have every op to

show that they are the best team in their div. Sweep the squeelers, and

beat buttimore and the bangles-again... and I'd go with it.

  • People keep claiming we're tied for 1st in the AFCN. We're not.

    Calm down.

Yeah, we'll be clear at the top in 48 hours 😉

Technically, yes, we are tied at 2-2 with both Ravens and Bengals....but see my "If the Playoffs started today" thread. Ravens would win tie breakers...primarily because of their win over the Browns.

But there are 12 more weeks to sort it out. If the Browns can win Thursday they will have that leg up on everyone else.

BTW, I understand that the Steelers have their bye week this week.....so they are given a sort of parole from going to 0-5.

  • With Brain Hoyer starting and the way our defense is playing i'll jump the cliff and admit i believe we are the BEST team currently in the AFCN.

    Am i crazy?

    Yes. You're absolutely freaking insane.

  • The game tomorrow will say a lot about this team. This is one of those games that playoff hopefuls WIN. Buffalo beat Baltimore, so we HAVE to go out and prove we can beat a rookie QB, at HOME, on primetime TV. Our D needs to make sure they step up and make Manuel look like a rookie, not like the next coming of John Elway. And, Hoyer needs to continue to manage the game and keep drives going while putting up enough points to win...

Just like the beginning of the year we said "It's all about Weeden"... Well, now "It's all about Hoyer"...

  • I would say we easily have the best defense right now in the AFC North and in this division, that means something.

The AFC north is our division. Do you mean the entire AFC? I think the Chiefs and Texans may have something to say about that. We are up there though.
  • pretty sure I stated "AFC North". BUT......i would say right now we're making a strong case for possibly the best front 7 in the NFL.

  • You said in the AFC North AND our division.

ah, ic where you misunderstood me. I was saying "and in this division that means something". Was referring to the North and how defense dominates here.

  • I guess some of you refuse to admit we're killing em

I see a browns win at the bills ...if it happens the game that makes a strong statement is how will we deal with the Lions if we roll them and are 4-2 after week 6 with 4 straight wins coming from Vikings Bengals Bills Lions I know some of u would still suck Baltimore and Cincys dick

As it is today i'll stay with best team AFCN is the browns believe me or not its the truth.

I'll agree that we have the best defense in the North and therefore, because defense rules in the North, we have the best team. Still have alot of offensive holes though so a deep playoff run is likely not on the table. Still not sure though our offense can stay on the field long enough against the Ravens so our defense can last 4 quarters. That will be interesting to see in the next game.

  • but I'll consider this season an epic win if all we do the rest of the way is maul the steelers twice. My expectations have been lowered, lols.

  • Speaking for myself, I'd be thrilled to be over .500.

  • 12-4

  • What we are is competitive. Even in the loss to the Rats the Browns were competitive.

The one thing I like about our coaching staff is that I think they expect and push this team to be in every game.

I don't know if the Browns will finish .500. They still have 5 division games left....and by no means is it a given that they will win any of those games.

    But they will compete.

    Exactly... Ain't it great?

Good to see this bipolar forum on an upswing, but could turn really suicidal around here midnite Thursday...
