5th round pick for MJD and push for the playoffs this year? then we can still go after Ben Tate in the offseason, use both of them for a couple years until MJD is done. but we are SO CLOSE to being a playoff team IF hoyer is the real deal. a legit running back will make us that much closer. thye were saying on espn that a 7th rounder for him would get him but i would go as high as a 5th to snag him. he can be like jaamal lewis when we had him in the end of his career and he helped lead us to a 10-6 season and rushed for like 1200 yds. i hate waiting. i want a winning season THIS YEAR

I think we have a good enough "over the hill" running back. Would bring too much attention and expectations for this young bunch. We get Lewis back in a few weeks and Rainey looks like a poor mans version of MJD.

If you're referring to Dion Lewis, he is on IR and cannot come back this season.

I say no to Mjd. Giving up picks for him does us no favors.

I like Tate But not the price tag.

FWIW, are any of you guys guilty of saying running backs are a dime a dozen?

If so why pay huge and put stress on our cap #'s?

If and when we start to be contenders the players will start say "We gots to get paid" Tate's back loaded contract don't look so good now does it...

Lets find one of those .10 per dozen RB's.

Well your kind of right. Starting in 2012, the NFL and the NFLPA reached an agreement allowing one player placed on injured reserve to be brought back to the active roster.[3] Provided that the player was on the final 53-man preseason roster (A rule exempted for the 2012 season), and that the injury is deemed to keep this player unable to practice or play football for an estimated six weeks, the player may be allowed to practice after Week 6, and be activated to play after Week 8.[4]

Teams may also place a player on injured reserve with a minor injury designation, but the team must release the player once he is healthy

                        That one player is Pinkston.

                        Lewis went on season-ending IR

we're too shallow at receiver to do that. we only have 4 receivers on our roster right now.

We all know the FO has a good eye in RB evaluation. They wouldn't have shit canned "dancing for dollars" without having a solid plan for a replacement. Have faith. B and L have forgotten more football than we could ever grasp. Let them do the jobs they are paid to do.

Fizzy Whitaker could be a diamond in the rough as a 3rd down back and someone who could take it to the house with his sprinter speed. Lets see how they use him in the next few weeks or if he's just a return guy. im thinking he has Darren sproles type potential.

Fozzy Whittaker highlights from his days in Texas:

(Just out of curiosity guys....why now when you post a youtube video on here does the link only show up instead of the actual video as has been the case for some years now?)

Some things to note about this video: I think this Fozzy Bear ought to be put in their to return kickoffs. He looks a damn site better than what we have returning kickoffs now. Also, he seems to run a lot of WildDawg, taking the direct snap from center. Plus, he seems very effective when he is thrown a screen pass.

I am sure the hope is that he can be a replacement for the kind of game they expected Dion Lewis to give us....that Darren Sproles type player (that Norv likes well).

Another thought is signing a true FB, then having Ogby join the committee more. Baltimore dropped TD included, Ogby is contributing running and receiving more than a typical FB (is there even such a thing anymore other than Vonta Leach? and which is part of the Norv plan having him at "FB" I assume).

Go get a goal line blocking FB, then use McGahee, Rainey, Ogby and Fonzy to game situation and their strengths.

The running game got the job done vs. Cincy. Got a couple momentum-building first downs, kept play-action useful, helped close the game out.

With our normal 46-man roster though, can we carry five RB/FB?

Fozzy Whittaker highlights from his days in Texas:

(Just out of curiosity guys....why now when you post a youtube video on here does the link only show up instead of the actual video as has been the case for some years now?)

Some things to note about this video: I think this Fozzy Bear ought to be put in their to return kickoffs. He looks a damn site better than what we have returning kickoffs now. Also, he seems to run a lot of WildDawg, taking the direct snap from center. i was just thinking that we were trying to replace dion lewis with this guy. we need a smaller, shifty, quick, agile, and versatile back in our system. which is exactly why we shipped out mr. glorified goal line back AKA mr. 3 yards per carry
