Even though they beat us last night, I now would like to see the Rays win it all. Fresh blood and all that. Eff the Cardinals and Red Sox who each have won a couple of times in the last few years.
Second choice: probably The Braves

I think it could well be the Tigers year. Unlike the Super Bowl loser which has not come back to win the title the following year since 1971, there is no such stigma to the World Series loser. The Motor City Kitties may be poised to take it all.

If the Browns win tonight and take over first place in the AFCN, they will be the biggest surprise winner of the NFL season so far.
Second choice would be Kansas City. They play the also surprising Titans Sunday and if they go to 5-0 that is a majorly unexpected. If the Titans win, they could carry the mantle of one of the most surprising teams...as they would be 4-1. But for them their QB is out for a while so it will be tough.

Sorry, but many even national analysts say that the Steelers sucking this bad is not that much of a surprise.
The Giants sucking as bad as they do is a bigger surprise...so go with the Gints.
3. Who is the most overhyped NFL player?
RGIII sure gets the hype for a guy that ain't doing all that great. Now, based on last year's performance....his hype seem justified. But that injury derailed him, but you wouldn't know it by the national media that still spoons all over him.
The two Texas QBs, Matt Schaub and Tony Romo may also be in the running here. And now, apparently, Andy Dalton.
4. Which part of the government shutdown affects you the most?
None of what I do business with is being shutdown. Bankruptcy Court and the IRS are all up and running.
The one area though in which I may get fucked is with the National Park Service. DARWAF's. I have my fall trip coming up...and in these I often visit a number of NPS units. While several that I plan to go to can't be shut down because they are simply natural settings that you can't close, there are a couple that I was looking forward to seeing that could be shuttered because they are located in structures: Thomas Edison's lab in NJ, and the Steamtown Railroad museum in Scranton PA.

As mentioned above, I am going to Eastern PA along the Delaware Water Gap/Pocono mountain area. It should be prime time when I go.
Even I-80 going across northern PA should be a scenic ride if the weather is right.

1. I've always rooted for the A's, but I have a real feeling that the damn Tigers are going to win it again. I almost hate them as much as the Steelers.

Seriously, for me the surprising positives are the 4-0 Chiefs, and the 3-1 Lions. The surprising negatives are the 0-4 Giants and the 1-3 Falcons

RGIII by a country mile, no one else is close on the ESPN hype-o-meter, seemed to have toned it down, now that the Deadskins are merely mediocre.

Damn National Park shutdown, if you arrived @ Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon this week, and were told the park was closed, you're going to have some mighty POed tourists. Doesn't really affect anything, as the real operations are run by concessionaires. Incidentally, went down to the Towpath yesterday for a nice fall ride, only to find "Towpath Closed" WTF?? I can understand the visitor centers- however- the Towpath is "Federal Land" You want to tell me to stay off my own property?

No special place, though I have to admit the overlook in Bedford Reservation is really nice.

Hoorta, If I saw a sign that said the Towpath is closed I would ignore it. Are they also going to try to tell you you can't drive the roads in the Cuyahoga Valley NP.. hell no, and the Towpath is just another public byway.
Besides....who the fuck is going to enforce it? If a goddam park ranger is being paid to patrol the towpath....then clearly the towpath can be open as they have enough money to pay people.
If you are in that area...check out the Ledges Overlook off Truxell Rd. Once upon a time from there you could look out across the Cuyahoga Valley and see The Big House on the Prairie out in the distance....but, alas, no more (Richfield Coliseum)

Central Ohio is epic in fall time, doesnt get much better. I'm in the Gahanna area which is beautiful the farther out east you go. The Hocking area is the best scenery ive ever seen in fall, about 1 hour south of Cbus. Great time to go check out Old mans cave and the state park.

Actually live in an area of Texas with four seasons now (vs. many years in Houston which has 2 or 3 seasons most years)...
But while living in Houston would go to Lost Maples State Park (near San Antonio) if wanted to see colors.
It's a unique park in an area that is able to sustain Maples due to soil type and topology producing an acceptable climate in the midst of a fairly hot and arrid region. about the only place you can see Maples.
