# OK, here is the deal guys: Brandon Weeded is your Browns Quarterback. Deal with it. Hoyer is a spark but Hoyer is likely gone so the Browns are now in the same position we thought they would be when the season started: BW3 starting and Campbell in the backup role. (though they will probably have to pick up another guy somewhere somehow)
# Weeden was 13 for 24 for 197 yards for a 8.2 avg. with 1 TD and 0- ints.
If you saw that line just in and of itself you would think that was pretty darn good.
Though, he did take 5 sacks.
Yes, he has major room for improvement. What he has to try to do is not to do what another QB can do...e.g. try to rush his release to look more like Hoyer. He has to do the things he does better, including seeing the field better and identifying his 2d and 3rd options quicker. I saw where he did some of that....he just has to do more.
Against the Lions Weeden has to look the way he did in the preseason game. Recall that against that team's first string defense he looked outstanding. We need a repeat performance of that.
# This team won last night the way it needs to win....and the way winning teams win. With contributions from all parts of the team. Special teams scored a TD, Defense scored a TD...and special teams and defense set up the offense for some short scoring drives. And the offense also had a couple of long scoring drives....one a 14 play 74 yard drive and another a 2 play 74 yard drive (the two long Little and Gordon catches)
So, everybody contributed.
This team has not won 3 games running on just the shoulders of one guy...including Hoyer. Everyone needs to...and has gotten into the act.
# The run defense did a bit better than it perhap seemed. That one play where Spiller went 56 yards skewed everything. Except for that play, the Bills went 99 yards on 30 carries (155 on 31 overall).
A 3.3 ypc avg. without the long run. Other than that long Spiller run, the longest gain the Bills got was the 14 yards on the rush by Emanuel where he got hurt
# Of course, the Browns rushing is nothing to write home about. They got 91 yards on on 32 carries for only a 2.8 yard avg. Sure, we could use a Jim Brown. But in the last two weeks what that run game has given us is some good steady moving of the chains late in the game to hold leads and seal wins. McGahee his no home run hitter...and we could use one. But the run game hasn't been completely impotent.
#Lastly, this defense continues to shine a bit, even with injuries (Sheard, Winn, Groves all out)

Agree with everything. We will go as far as Weeden can take us, because the D & ST's are good enough to get any team to the playoffs, but the running game is barley adequate in terms of keeping defenses off balance. Weeden is going to have to put points on the board with his arm every week and at this point I just don't think he has it in him.........God please let me be wrong.

One...or two other things. I think that both of those pass interference calls that led to Bills TDs were totally and completely bogus. On the Ward penalty it was the Bills receiver who initiated the contact by trying push off or ward off Ward with his left hand.
Basically the same on the Haden penalty early. Both players were making a play for the ball. Both should have been no call imo.
And another thing....the Browns need a kickoff returner. Little is not one...and no, I am fine with not having Benjamin have that job. Hopefully this Fozzy Whitaker can handle that role if they activate him. He looked super doing it in college...for what that's worth.

When Desmond Bryant went out, we had the likes of John Hughes....The Sausage King, and Armonty Bryant come in and do well.
Yes, the Bills had WRs out, and they had DBs out. But the Browns outmatched them in depth in those areas a bit as well.
And, by the way....why were some of those Bills out? Because the Browns defense crushed them. The Gipson hit on Emanual was a good clean strike. Someone got into Steve Johnson's ribs.
Who else did the Browns manage to dismiss with authority from the game?
Also, the hit on Hoyer was also a clean hit. Hoyers injury was his own fault really
The Bills have some good players on that defense: Alonso, Williams, Dareus. Quality players.

Why is John Hughes the sausage king?
Why is John Hughes the sausage king?
It is a nickname I gave him....and a few others have caught on to it.
It comes from the fact that his name is John Hughes, the same as the famous director of those teenage comedies, particulary, in this case Ferris Beuhler's Day Off in which Ferris posed as "Abe Froman, the Sausage King of Chicago). It is perhaps one of the most famous characters in moviedom...who never actually appeared in a movie.
And since our John Hughes is a big big boy who seems like he consumed a lot of sausage, I gave him that name.
I don't know if he has ever really been called that by anyone else...but I like it.
