Chiefs - are they really a 7-0 team?

The Browns Board

  • the Chiefs are very, very good and are a 7-0 team. The defense is lights out and they have a QB who doesn't make mistakes. They thrive in close games as well. The only reason the Chiefs were a bad team last year is because of QB play. The browns are honestly in an eerily similar situation as they were.

I never buy into the idea that teams are only doing well because of who they've played. Statistically more than half the teams in the NFL aren't playoff caliber. the NFL is all about beating the teams you're supposed to beat, which the Chiefs have done. Winning breeds confidence as well, which is extremely important.

  • As Bill Parcells said: You are what your record says you are. So, yes, the Chiefs ARE a 7-0 team.

What you are really asking is: Are the Chiefs really the best team in the AFCW....the AFC....the NFL since they now have the best record.

I would venture to say no. I don't think they will likely be playing in the NFL version of the Final Four come January. But for now they have beaten everyone that has been put in front of them...and no one else can make that claim.

But even as such, yes, I think the Browns have a fair chance of defeating them come Sunday.

  • Well, what I mean is, there are some teams who have a decent chance of going 7-0 year in, year out - Patriots, Packers, now Broncos etc. Then you have teams like the Texans last year, who got off to a lightning start, but fell apart at the end (i think the cards did similar, going 4-0, then 5-11). The point is, they maybe play the lighter end of their schedule early on, and if you were to mix up the schedule they wouldn't be going anywhere near 7-0.

  • Yeah, I think they are. They used to be one of the very worst, But the drafts have

    built them up.

If Hoyer was qb'ing, I'd say the Browns would beat them this Sunday.

Hopefull, Campbell gains some fire, and goes out there to win, instead of looking like

    a grumpy dress shop mannequin.

  • Lights out so far. But this is the defense we put 30 points on, and with Brandon Weeden no less.

  • I think theres a stat that mentions the chiefs are AVERAGING 10:30 time of possession in the 4th quarter alone. that is an awfully scary stat.. that means they can run the ball and pick up first downs when it counts.

that is why they excel in close games. and that defense 3 n outs quick.

  • The Chiefs are very good this year, and to imply our defense will shut them down is insane....we have been shredded every game since we beat the Bills. I hope we win Sunday, I just don't see it happening.

another reason they were bad last year

Romeo Crennel was the head coach

  • It's Andy Reid so the wheels will fall off eventually, unfortunately it probably won't be in week 8.

  • Andy Reid is one hell of a lot better coach then we have had.

  • Watch Campbell throw picks to both Berry and Flowers...

    Thanks for that, Captain Sunshine.

Which would be better than watching Weeden throw picks to both of them, plus give up sack fumbles to Hali and Johnson. Then for good measure throwing a pick six to both Smith and Lewis.

One of those picks would be undoubtedly be thrown underhanded

Yet hes better than anything we have had in 25+ years

  • OH HELL NO!!

  • just for perspective here...the Cleveland browns have 19 sacks for the whole team. Justin Houston and Tamba Hall, KC's two OLB'ers....have 19 sacks between the two of them. As a team they have 35 sacks. That team is no fucking joke

Here is another the Chiefs scored a total of 18 TD's last year and they have already scored 20 TD's this year.

  • what I wanna know is....are Houston and Hall just THAT much better than Sheard and Kruger? One has 10 sacks the other has 9, and we're just under halfway through the season. I'm kind of keen on watching these new 3-4 hybrid type OLB'ers so i've been watching ours closely. Sheard gets a passing grade on his pass rush and run blocking, but Kruger only gets a passing grade on the run D. His pass rush is utterly anemic. When he goes to the outside or inside he does so with zero leverage...all he's good for is the bullrush, which he's probably one of the best in the league at period at any position.
