Which would be better than watching Weeden throw picks to both of them, plus give up sack fumbles to Hali and Johnson. Then for good measure throwing a pick six to both Smith and Lewis.

One of those picks would be undoubtedly be thrown underhanded

  • It's Andy Reid so the wheels will fall off eventually, unfortunately it probably won't be in week 8.

Yet hes better than anything we have had in 25+ years

  • OH HELL NO!!

  • just for perspective here...the Cleveland browns have 19 sacks for the whole team. Justin Houston and Tamba Hall, KC's two OLB'ers....have 19 sacks between the two of them. As a team they have 35 sacks. That team is no fucking joke

Here is another the Chiefs scored a total of 18 TD's last year and they have already scored 20 TD's this year.

  • what I wanna know is....are Houston and Hall just THAT much better than Sheard and Kruger? One has 10 sacks the other has 9, and we're just under halfway through the season. I'm kind of keen on watching these new 3-4 hybrid type OLB'ers so i've been watching ours closely. Sheard gets a passing grade on his pass rush and run blocking, but Kruger only gets a passing grade on the run D. His pass rush is utterly anemic. When he goes to the outside or inside he does so with zero leverage...all he's good for is the bullrush, which he's probably one of the best in the league at period at any position.

  • It's Tamba Hali, not Tamba Hall.

  • Chiefs fan here.

I want to say that KC fans have a lot of respect for you guys. We have so much in common in way of NFL teams. Last year we were in the same boat you are in now. Something I have noticed with most Cleveland fans is you guys are humble and polite. I guess its just us midwest states maybe, but alas.

I may be wrong, so someone correct me, but I think Weeden would've been sacked more than Campbell may get hit. Isn't Campbell a mobile guy or do I have that wrong?

I also agree, as stated earlier, that you and the Titans are probably the best defenses we have faced thus far. Rebuilding years suck. I really understand. I bought two years of season tickets of what, a 4-12 and 2-14 season... Ugh..

You guys are a loyal fan base. As is KC. You're time is coming.

  • Not to be 'that guy,' but yes, Hali and Houston are monsters

  • Chiefs will fail, and fail badly.

Well, interesting stuff tonight on the radio regarding how that happens. The Chiefs have done a 3-1 overload on one side with their LBers- even Joe Thomas can't block 3 guys at once- and they hope they can get a sack before the opposing qb can get the ball to the hot receiver before he gets sacked. It's worked so far for them. the Chiefs secondary has been playing mighty good.

Oh, and they have a decent running game, and a quarterback who doesn't make mistakes. Weeden should take note, holding the clipboard.

Well, we hope our time is coming this weekend. 🙂 Our losses have been at the hands of a quarterback who should never have been drafted in the first round. Weeden was to put it bluntly Gawdawful, and it was about damn time Chud saw the light and benched his sorry ass. The worrisome part is in the last couple weeks our front 7 has failed to generate an effective pass rush. Joe Haden will shut down anyone you put in front of him- if the guy doesn't make the Pro Bowl this year, there should be an investigation. Our run D has been pretty good- but you have a good runner in Charles- we'll see what happens there.

Don't know if Campbell is more mobile than Weeden, but he has 10 times the pocket awareness from what I've seen on of the tapes, and can actually throw an accurate pass with pressure in his face- a department that Weedster was sorely lacking in. Gordon will be a good test for your secondary- us Browns fans will be sorely pissed if the FO trades him away due to drug concerns. Campbell is a TE you're going to have to pay attention to. We're lacking in the run department- McGahee was benched last year on a lot of fantasy teams- for good reason, although our FO is looking like geniuses for dumping Richardson- he's done nothing to date in Indy. .

BTW, love you guys otherwise, KC is a great town with great fans, Arrowhead is a great venue- and I'm making the trip over there to take in the game. With We-done on the bench, I've raised my expectations from no hope to faint hope. Here's to a good game- with no injuries on either team.

The Browns are pretty much where you guys were last year- a quarterback short.

  • They are a 7-0 team. I predicted them winning the division this off season. They will crush the Browns. The only game this year I have said that.

  • Good point. I think they've been lucky, as most seven and 0 teams are lucky, and that luck has to come to an end sometime. Often times it seems the streaks come to an end against teams they should beat the shit out of.

So take the points and bet on the Browns.

Thanks for checking in. I honestly believe the Browns are in a eerily similar situation that the Chiefs were in last year. If the Browns had Alex Smith right now (which my dad was screaming for in the offseason haha) they'd easily be 5-2 right now. That's not being a homer it's just the truth. Everyone looks at the points the defense has allowed but it's a large result of how crappy Weeden has been. No matter how elite a squad is it's demoralizing as hell to make a big stop just to have the offense keep giving the ball back.

I'm sorry for going off-topic but is KC a good place to live? The misses and I will be making a big move here in the next 3-4 years and I've heard KC is good place to settle down.

  • Hey, Tomahawk! Lived in KC for 18 years, last 5 on 59th near Ward Parkway. My flight from LA departs this evening and I'll be in Arrowhead on Sunday. Appreciate the respectful post. Chiefs fans are not only some of the best out there, they're also good hosts. Well, I had a hot dog butt thrown at me during the Kosar years but I laughed it off and so did everyone else. Reflecting back, it turned out to be the end of Kosar's career (Louis Cooper's hit).

This year's Browns are last year's Chiefs, a team with a lot of young talent at some key positions (LT, pass rushers, #1 corner, #1 receiver, etc.), but a hole in the middle, like a doughnut. Alex Smith isn't even playing like Alex Smith yet (last year he was #1 at 82.6% counting drops) so I have a feeling the offense will only get better. The receivers drop a lot of balls. But the defense and Charles are elite.

This year's Chiefs are kind of like the Niners of two years ago, with a great defense and running game and a quarterback who doesn't make mistakes... and can give you a half or even a game (did it in the playoffs) to carry you every once in a while. As you've figured, I've been an Alex Smith fan all along. Now everybody is (25-5 will do that). Nobody's asking if you can with him anymore. The question might be: Can you lose?

I expect the Chiefs to be a better team by the end of the season than they are now. They have talent all over the field on both sides of the ball. They could win the whole shootin' match, especially if every playoff game is in Arrowhead.

I think Brian Hoyer could've been Alex Smith, accurate, smart, and mobile. With him, the Browns win 9. Without him, could be 5. And that's with competent, consistent QB play. GREAT QB play? 11 wins. We just have to find our guy this offseason.

  • Another Chiefs fan here....not here to troll. Nobody likes that. Just wanted to see what you guys were feeling about this game. It's been mentioned and I do see some similarities between KC last year and Cleveland this year. Especially as it relates to the defensive side. Nothing more frustrating than knowing your team has a good defense only to see it wasted by turnovers and the offense not doing anything. Throw a tired defense out there and I'm sorry it won't matter how good they are they are going to wear out. And of course the other similarity is the QB play. Alex Smith is not lighting it up. He is what he is....which is still light years better than Matt Cassel. If nothing else Smith has a more calming effect in the huddle and is more athletic with his legs than he gets credit for. Ask the Texans. And he is relatively good on preventing the big mistakes.

I am interested in seeing some of the matchups on Sunday. I have a ton of respect for Thomas on the line. How is your other tackle? Solid? I think Cameron is a good young TE. On the other side of it...the Chiefs have given up zero touchdowns and the fewest yards in the league to tight ends....so something has to give there. I think there are two areas where the Chiefs defense has shown some vulnerability. Going deep early. Dallas did it, Texans did it, Giants did it.....they all got a long pass for a score. Also Chiefs have shown they can be run on by mobile QBs. Don't know if your coach is planning on having Campbell do much designed run plays but it couldn't hurt.

Browns fans deserve a winner. You guys have been through so much and that includes having your team yanked out from under you. I've always had a bad taste in my mouth about how that went down. The success of KC this year is as much about adding a new GM and a new coach as it is what we put on the field. Romeo Crennel was a horrible coach for us. Scott Pioli was a micro manager who worried more about candy wrappers in a stairwell then the product on the field. Dorsey and Reid are breaths of fresh air for us.
