  • Big Ben realizes Tomlin not only wore out Cowhers coat tails he shredded em beyond all recognition.

Mike Tomlin is not a bad coach. Todd Haley is a bastard of an offensive coordinator and our offensive line has been patch work because of injuries and inconsistencies. If we had more continuity on the offensive line this convnersation wouldn't even transpire. As far as Ben is concerned he's allowed to be upset with Haley but he's a god damn diva and it's annoying. (It's also 100% speculation and his agent has said the statement is bs)

EDIT: Tomlin also isn't going anywhere even if we have another losing season next year. Say the Steelers do fire him, teams will be beating down the door to hire him.

  • guaranteed this is the Steelers FO opening salvo on nudging him out. What this means is they really want one of those shiny new qb's in the upcoming draft. I'm completely fine with that.

  • No they won't. It's usually the prerogative of bad teams to blame the o coordinator first but I assure you the Steelers coaching woes go deeper than Haley.

Not really. The only guy from pgh that teams will be beating the door down for is still up in the broadcast booth.

This isnt Bill Belichick or Sean Payton were talking about here...He's severely overrated and taken the toughness out of the Steelers,Cowher imparted on the team...It's not even a comparison...Please stop with the nonsense and take your silly homer piss colored sunglasses off for once.

  • Had a decent game today though. Put the hurting on the bills.

  • Oh I wouldn't think that Tomlin will have a rough time finding a new job. I also don't think the squeelers organization will shit can the guy for a bad season. We do that here but it hasn't been a very successful business model. These bastards are just the victims of old age and have dodged that bullet for longer than they deserve.

Cowherd 😉 is a product of media hype and probably wouldn't take another coaching job unless it was a sure thing.

Ben has just probably raped all the women in western Pennsylvania and looking to move on...

  • I heard speculation that the Rooneys have at best been tolerant of BR what with all his off field issues, and that as long as he was leading them to win, they would put up with him. But now with one mediocre season behind him, and now with a bad season, they have not forgotten the scorn that BR had brought onto the franchise. (in other words, the people that hold the biggest grudge against BR over issues that nearly everyone else thought was behind him are his own owners)

  • You know what they say where there's smoke there's fire.

Big Ben will be a cardinal next year to play with his old O.C. with the chance to throw the ball to a real WR. May even take a $ discount.

  • I am hearing reports on the radio that the Steelers, who are still in some kind of salary cap hell could say goodbye to Roethlisberger, Polamalu, and Antonio Brown after this year.

The reports about BR asking for a trade may in fact have been floated by the team's front office and it would not bring a tear to their eye if they had to say Sayonara to him.

Polamalu may be playing OK for an older fella....but he is not playing well enough...nor does his future seem good enough to warrant his salary.

And on Brown, I understand that he will be a FA at the end of this season, so they may not resign him for what he may want.

These 3 guys as I understand it account for like 40% of the team's salary, so letting them loose would gain that team a ton of cap space.

  • Hope you don't mind I merged these, one Steeler thread during Bungle week is enough.

  • Ben isn't going anywhere, polamalu is probably going to need to take a pay cut and they aren't talking about brown if they are talking about a receiever they are talking about sanders. Brown just signed that 50m dollar deal. He's not going anywhere.

OK, maybe it was Sanders, not Brown. Polamalu may not be asked to take pay cut, rather he may be asked to take hike....so they can put Thomas in there. As for BR, someone floated these rumors, and if it wasn't him....then it may well have been the Steelers FO.

Its not maybe it was sanders, it IS sanders. Brown is not a free agent next season. As far as ben is concerned if for some reason Hes traded its going to be for a massive haul. Troy also wont be asked to take a hike. He may be asked to take a pay cut and if he doesnt want to i could see him retiring. I could also see him moving to free safety.

Fine, its Sanders. So your receiving is even weakened more for next year.

And, OK, maybe the Steelers make it so untenable that Polamalu will feel he is being forced to retire or go elsewhere if he still wants to play. Him playing FS is good news for all Steeler opponents....as it would weaken that position.

As for the "haul" that you could get for BR....it would probably be more like a Tonka Toy than the dump truck that you might expect. Teams would know that the Steelers are trying to dump him...and will undercut any bid. Besides, these teams would not want to pay a load for him knowing he has been rode hard and put away wet. What you could get would maybe that 3d and 4th round picks you gave up to the Browns last year.

If the Browns said we will trade you those picks back for BR.....the Steelers would probably jump at it.

OK lets get the opinions of others: Would you trade the #3 and #4 we got last year for the Steelers back to them for Ben Roethlisberger?

Would the Steelers make that trade?

What planet are you from? First and foremost Ben isn't getting traded and I don't believe for a second the Steelers are fielding offers for him. I do believe the Steelers are having a rough season and it's during those types of climates that things like this crop up. It's especially true when your franchise QB has made it no secret that he wasn't thrilled with Arians being pushed out of town. You also act like the guy is 40 years old. He's realistically in the prime of his career right now. He's a massive human being that is damn near impossible to pull down in solo fashion and he's still very much in the elite category. Now with all that being said implying that all he'd garner is a 3rd and a 4th round pick is ridiculous. However all the above isn't worth discussing because he himself debunked the reports, the rooney's did the same. He's not going anywhere and every Browns fan with an ounce of intelligence would parade the two pathetic picks you offered above for a franchise QB whether it's ben or not. Don't stir up sh.it for the sake of stirring it up. I'm not that bored.

  • We also drafted Markus Wheaton to step in and contribute he's just been banged up and hasn't been given the opportunity. I'm not at all worried about our skill positions especially if we end up with a top 10 pick in each round. Worry about your own team. (We will be getting a 3rd round comp pick for Wallace.). Part of the reason the steelers traded to draft shark.

    You ARE that boring.

It was Adam Schefter I believe who reported that it was the Steelers who may have floated the idea of trading BR.

And though he is not 40 years old, he has perhaps the wear and tear of a 40 year old.....and THAT is why he would not garner much in a trade.

Of course everyone denies it.....until it happened.

But, the one thing you said that was right is that those two picks (pathetic? how do you figure that a 3rd and 4th round picks in the NFL draft are pathetic?)...might be fodder for moving up to get a "franchise" QB in the draft.
