I hope we used our bye wisely...

They use it to rest primarily. Chud said they'd have some time off since Thursday and get back on Monday.

I think Chud has this team set up and ready to move ahead in a positive way in the next comming weeks. I think now weeden can focus on being a backup and support Campbell. It's not a complete disaster for him to being a backup...I think the defense is only gonna improve. So should the offense with stability at Qb for the time being...Now I want to to see this team come out and own games. Start to finish. Totally control the flow of games...We can do this.

They usually dont do anything during the bye week. It's pretty much that they just take a break and get healthy. The only players that you will really see at the facility are those that are rehabbing. Some may come in and lift etc. but they dont have practices or team meetings or anything like that. It's pretty much up to the players to do what they want, but they're not out there on the practice field as a team. A lot of players will go home and be with family for a little while.

The important thing is for the coaches to figure out what's causing the main problems:
Offense first down
Offense running game
Defense first down
Defense turnovers (or lack of)
-
The players rest and get healthy...
The staff works its ass off.

The biggest and maybe only problem on defense is THIRD down. We rank near the top of almost every defensive stat except third down efficiency. Why? On a team covering and rushing great, what's happening on third downs? It's not rhetorical. I actually wonder.
On offense, we're passing the ball very well when Weeden's out, both by passer rating and yardage. We run horribly unless we hand the ball to Obie, frankly. He averages over 5 and has our only run of 20+. He's the top receiver out of the backfield as well. The Browns have hinted that he'll get more touches and it's about time. He hits the hole fast (the anti-Richardson) and he's a classic one-cut runner. And because he can catch, nobody can read into his presence on the field.
The line has really stabilized since Lauvao returned. I'm not suggesting that he's played fantastically... but he's obviously quite a bit better than Cousins and it's not a coincidence. Could Pinkston be even a little better? He was slated to start the opener before both guys were hurt, or at least presumed to be the starter at RG... but I'm sure the Browns will be reluctant to rock the boat, especially if they show an ability to run even decently against the Bengals. In any case, I expect him to see a handful of snaps.
If I'm the Browns, I want to create stability on offense in general. Some of that happens with a quarterback getting his third consecutive start, period (!). More happens with Little and Bess stepping up, settling us into a receiver lineup of Gordon-Cameron-Little-Bess... and maybe Obie settling into the starting role at RB with Fozzy and Willis spelling him.
The schedule has scads of winnable games down the stretch but it really starts with beating the Bengals on the road and then Pittsburgh at home to get to 6-5. At that point, things get really interesting (assuming we avoid injuries).
Now keep pulling for the Colts to fade. They have to play a Thursday night game right off a humiliating thumping.

Who's job was it to remind Gordon he would probably have to piss in a cup as soon as they get back?
