  • Ben isn't going anywhere, polamalu is probably going to need to take a pay cut and they aren't talking about brown if they are talking about a receiever they are talking about sanders. Brown just signed that 50m dollar deal. He's not going anywhere.

OK, maybe it was Sanders, not Brown. Polamalu may not be asked to take pay cut, rather he may be asked to take hike....so they can put Thomas in there. As for BR, someone floated these rumors, and if it wasn't him....then it may well have been the Steelers FO.

Its not maybe it was sanders, it IS sanders. Brown is not a free agent next season. As far as ben is concerned if for some reason Hes traded its going to be for a massive haul. Troy also wont be asked to take a hike. He may be asked to take a pay cut and if he doesnt want to i could see him retiring. I could also see him moving to free safety.

Fine, its Sanders. So your receiving is even weakened more for next year.

And, OK, maybe the Steelers make it so untenable that Polamalu will feel he is being forced to retire or go elsewhere if he still wants to play. Him playing FS is good news for all Steeler opponents....as it would weaken that position.

As for the "haul" that you could get for BR....it would probably be more like a Tonka Toy than the dump truck that you might expect. Teams would know that the Steelers are trying to dump him...and will undercut any bid. Besides, these teams would not want to pay a load for him knowing he has been rode hard and put away wet. What you could get would maybe that 3d and 4th round picks you gave up to the Browns last year.

If the Browns said we will trade you those picks back for BR.....the Steelers would probably jump at it.

OK lets get the opinions of others: Would you trade the #3 and #4 we got last year for the Steelers back to them for Ben Roethlisberger?

Would the Steelers make that trade?

What planet are you from? First and foremost Ben isn't getting traded and I don't believe for a second the Steelers are fielding offers for him. I do believe the Steelers are having a rough season and it's during those types of climates that things like this crop up. It's especially true when your franchise QB has made it no secret that he wasn't thrilled with Arians being pushed out of town. You also act like the guy is 40 years old. He's realistically in the prime of his career right now. He's a massive human being that is damn near impossible to pull down in solo fashion and he's still very much in the elite category. Now with all that being said implying that all he'd garner is a 3rd and a 4th round pick is ridiculous. However all the above isn't worth discussing because he himself debunked the reports, the rooney's did the same. He's not going anywhere and every Browns fan with an ounce of intelligence would parade the two pathetic picks you offered above for a franchise QB whether it's ben or not. Don't stir up sh.it for the sake of stirring it up. I'm not that bored.

  • We also drafted Markus Wheaton to step in and contribute he's just been banged up and hasn't been given the opportunity. I'm not at all worried about our skill positions especially if we end up with a top 10 pick in each round. Worry about your own team. (We will be getting a 3rd round comp pick for Wallace.). Part of the reason the steelers traded to draft shark.

    You ARE that boring.

It was Adam Schefter I believe who reported that it was the Steelers who may have floated the idea of trading BR.

And though he is not 40 years old, he has perhaps the wear and tear of a 40 year old.....and THAT is why he would not garner much in a trade.

Of course everyone denies it.....until it happened.

But, the one thing you said that was right is that those two picks (pathetic? how do you figure that a 3rd and 4th round picks in the NFL draft are pathetic?)...might be fodder for moving up to get a "franchise" QB in the draft.

You really think that Wesley Crusher is going to be all that? Well, if Sander leaves you, you better hope that Wesley Crusher turns into Captain Picard.

This is a catchall thread into which all the Steelers Suck posts are placed. The rampant speculation about BR being aufed is/has been all over the national networks. So why would you not expect something here.

By the way, I don't think you ever actually responded to the offer of the Browns 3rd and 4th to the Steelers for BR.

What's it gonna be boy, Yes or No (hello Meatloaf)?

OK, tell you what....it won't be the Browns 3rd and 4th...because the two teams wouldn't trade in the division...for players anyway.

    Someone else's 3 and 4?

I thought you were being more than cival, not only that but kind and fair. He still lives in his fairy tale "Stoolers can do nothing wrong world"... His team finished at .500 last season and is due to finsh lower. It's not just us here on the Browns Board, It's pretty much the national consensus. Rumours about Gordon came up,Did we deny them?...No we did not. We pretty much understood the rules as a whole on that one.

Nickers please find where I said the steelers could do no wrong. What I have said in the past is that this team is not in need of a rebuild. A couple of drafts and this team is completely on the mend, assuming of course we can draft a little higher than usual.

Based on what your expert opinion? They have had a lot of injuries along the offensive line and its hurting the team. If the steelers get a top 10 draft pick its an immediate impact kind of player. Hell even T this juncture the season is far from over. What are you going to say if the steelers sweep the browns both games?

the question is..."whats gonna be your excuse if the Browns sweep them"...tell us now so you wont be misquoted.

  • I wont have an excuse. They arent playing good football right now. Our offensive line is patchwork due to injury and we arent getting the pressure from the nose tackle necessary to free up space for the lbs and the rest of the dline to make plays. All of which can he addressed in the draft. I quite honestly would prefer they lose the rest of their games because they havent shown to this point they are capable of making a deep playoff run or an appearance at all. Id much rather have the top ten draft pick to fix a few of the holes. One and done is a failed season.

Pardon Gip- yeah- Ben is worth more than a 3rd and 4th. Maybe a 2nd? Only kidding. I don't think he's going anywhere either. But you have your head in the sand if you don't think the beatings Ben's been taking aren't cumulative.

Not in need of a rebuild? Pure homerism. I don't have a crystal ball, but if you happen to lose out (possible) I think you'll be singing a different tune. That's also assuming you hit on that top 10 pick, because top 10 picks never ever bust. The Browns have turned that into an art form- and don't tell me your super stud first round pick comes with a 100% guarantee HOF credential. Oh, and that compensatory pick for Wallace will come at the end of the third round, effectively almost making it a 4th round pick.

Hehe- see you're wearing the Prison uniforms this week. Be sure to play like the 1940 Steelers while you're at it. 🙂
