Big announcement at 2 PM

There's no perhaps. Each endzone scoreboard will be tripled in sized, plus the addition of new LED video boards and video strips.
Yea, all to be used primarily for more advertising.

The renderings and comparisons are pretty neat. It makes you realize just how antiquated our 15 year old stadium actually is.
And this surprises you?
And this surprises you?
If they triple the size of the video scoreboard so that replays, highlights etc. can be seen much better, then I guess it is a fair trade if they also use those boards to show ads during down times......and, hopefully.....it is that ad revenue that pays for the improvements. And not the ticket buyers/taxpayers.

Unfortunately, it's going to come out of the taxpayers and ticket holders pockets up front. I would expect a fair price hike for the foreseeable future.
I'd be willing to pay an extra 20 dollars per game if it meant we'd have a contending team and a nice stadium. I think that's a fair trade.

The stadium isn't going to change that much.....I mean, your seat is not going to be wider, longer, softer. The vid vid video might improve.
The beer won't be better, or cheaper.
Let's put it this way.....it still can't match my sofa and fridge.
And Sherrod Brown is probably going to push a bill that since so much taxpayer money is being used for these private businesses, then the blackout rules are going to have to be eliminated, and that all games must be broadcast regardless of the sellout status.

Just making fun of the fact that he always looks like he stepped out of a tanning booth. Jimmy is still living the good life, and I am good with that.

What I see, primarily, is that they are taking away those 3000 seats in order to construct more billboard space for advertisements in their place. Perhaps, yes, the scoreboard will be enlarged.....but the ad space will be increased by a far greater degree.
I mean, this is just a fucking Peggy Lee announcement: "Is that all there is"?

It's been a really long 15 years...

The brass has said over and over that the helmet won't have a logo, even if the team does (and it's rumored to be the brownie). They've also said that "The Browns" will obviously continue to feature brown as the primary color. In fact, they've said the color scheme (brown, orange, white) will remain the same.
It'll be about design. We've seen some really cool stuff. If you really want the Browns to be just like always, Marion Motley wore a white helmet, not an orange one. Sipe wore orange pants while Hoyer wore brown. The shade of brown has changed a dozen times. The stripes have changed even more.
The notion that we've always worn the same uniform is wrong.

Yup... and as the background in the Haslam vid shows, once-upon-a-time we even had numbers on our helmets...

jerry jones tan> haslam tan.
just wants to fit in with the other 'fellas'.
shit if i had that that kind of money i'd be shitted-canned, tanned and all-over pusified fucked with champagne .

What does this mean.....
"Currently, we have the lowest percentage of seating in the lower bowl than any stadium in the country," Banner said. ". . . Some of the upper-bowl seats will become lower-bowl seats."
It means they're going to take about 10-15 rows of upper bowl, strategically demolish them, and add them to the lower bowl. It's not a tough job, if it's done right.
It's similar to what Oakland does on a regular basis, but much more permanent.

Um, not as easy as you make it out to be TC, a least not for the sideline seats. Been there, seen that. I've always said the el primo seats in the 100 level are the last 3 rows of the lower deck. They're under cover, and you can literally knock on the floor of the 200 level owner's suites. If you were going to extend backward, you'd have to knock out the back walls, and re-do the entire 200 suite level, raising it up. The other alternative would be to drop the field playing surface as they did at Ohio State. But don't forget- the Stadium was built on a landfill, and being right next to the Lake, I'd have to wonder where the water table starts at.
One thing I really hope they address- it's my major peeve. The stadium was constructed to conserve as much of the "feel" of old Muni as possible. That meant keeping the narrow walkways behind the stands. Hello, welcome to sardine in a can city before, after the game, and during halftime. Go into any other modern NFL stadium, and those walkways are 3 or 4 times wider. I'd be willing to bet the space behind the stands in Cinci's Paul Brown is at least 150 feet wide.

They will charge you more money for the same seat? Also it looks like they are adding a lot more add space....

Har har. I've been predicting for years the minute the Browns started winning you could expect a massive increase in ticket prices. If you want a premium fan experience, you're going to pay a premium price. Give Randy Lerner credit for one thing- he kept ticket prices low through all those losing seasons. If you didn't realize it, the Browns have one for the lowest average seat prices in the NFL. For example, my 100 level season tickets would cost me 3 times more + in Foxboro to see the Patriots play. Personally, I'm expecting at least a 10, if not a 20% bump in my seat price when the annual love letter comes out in May.

I don't know that it will be that much at once.....but over a few years it could. My feeling is the Browns have the greatest price elasticity with seats in the $45-$65 range.
As for the lower seating...they are canning maybe 4000-5000 last rows upper deck endzones to add scoreboards and filling in the gaps on the lower sction with maybe 2000-3000 lower bowl seats...thus the net loss of seats. Dump 5000 cheap seats that are the last to sell and make them easy to sell, more expensive seats in the lower level. Brilliant move IMO.
As to Zombos comment about Haslam at games...I was at the last game against the Ravens and was in the Port of Cleveland lot. We saw Haslams jet fly directly overhead on it's approach to Burke..the Jet had a Browns helment on the tail, so I assume it was Haslam....pretty cool to see.

It doesn't sound like they're extending backwards, it sounds like they're extending forwards. There's space on either sideline to add 5-10 rows of seating toward the field without lowering field level. As they said in the presser, they're going to put fans much closer to the action.
And they are completely redoing the 200 level suites. Those suites have been untouched since '99, they're going to "bring them into the 21st century". Even looking at the renderings, the suites seem to be much larger and lower.

Well that will get you from Tennessee to Burke in about an hour. Why don't you ask Jimmy if you can bum a ride with him sometime 'Peen? -

Yes, it is.....pretty impressive watching it as it was maybe a few hundred feet overhead and 1/2 mile from the runway.
I am kind of, sort of working on bumming a ride. We'll just have to see how things evolve.
People can rap big bucks all they want, but how sweet would that be....have breakfast in Knoxville on Sunday morning, hit the airport by 11AM, then land in Cleveland at 12:15 to watch your NFL team play, then be back home in time to catch most of 60 Minutes? I try not to envy much, but I can't help it in this case.

Well here's my take on that notion. Again, been there seen that. I'm currently in Row 9 lower deck- if they move me any lower, I'll have a conniption fit. Know why? The field flattens out too much and you have zero perspective. My claim to fame is I was at the very first Monday Night game, when the Browns beat the Jets in old Muni, in the field level seats opposite what was to become the Dawg Pound. They always sold out last- and for a damn good reason- once the play was farther away than your side of the 30, you couldn't see squat. So they're going to fix that problem with a mega-jumbotron? Unless you're into buying $7 beers, you'd be better off staying at home and watching the game on the widescreen. As it is, even from row 9 once play gets to the other 30 yard line, it's tough to see what's going on. Yeah, from the 40 yard line in, great seats. But guess what? The mobile field level camera is on my side of the field- so when that booger decides to position himself right in front of me- it's like Deja Vu at Muni- don't have to dodge around a pole to see what's going on, just a ##### Cameraman.

& BTW here's another example of how being really close to the field isn't all it's cracked up to be. the guy that owns the wine store I frequent has season tickets field level Row 2, 50 yard line for the Bengals, about as close as you can get to the action, no? Great seats? Not exactly. The play comes to your side of the field, you can't see over the bench. There's a damn good reason why the 200 level primo owners boxes are where they are.
I'm 100% with Ballpeen on this one- I'd gladly take first row in the upper deck over the first 5 rows field level.

I see on eBay that you can pick yourself up a good little Cessna for about 15K......so if you know how to pilot it yourself, there you go!

There is a development near me called Skypark where you have your house adjacent to a small airport, and the houses have "garages" that hold small planes. Essentially you park your plane in your "garage" just like a car and you can taxi down your street which is connected to the runway of the airport. You just take off right from home.
