Ed Reed released by Texans

i got what you were saying chris, just don't think reed has the where-withall to go from on the field to on the sideline overnite nor do i know if he has the football accumen. sure he might be a hall of famer who could read a QBs eyes and get to the ball, but does that translate him being slated in as a DB coach or even an assistant DB coach? personally i don't think he has the brains.
he'll probably spend the off-season going to speech therapy and go to some network having some part a 'future hall of famer.......ed reed' come in and do 3 30 second sound bytes about what happened with this defensive play etc.

OK one thing I don't get about this - he cleared waivers, but then got signed? Why would a team not claim him off of waivers first? Certainly the Jets who would have been relatively high in claim order. Is it related to his contract? Would they have been forced to pick up the cheque, but now they get to negotiate from the start?
Mik, that's fair enough, there's never any guarantee that a good DB becomes a good coach. Just thought it might be worth a punt.

If he'd have been picked up on waivers, the Jete would have had to pick up the remainder of his Texans contract.
Now they are free to pay him whatever.
