So no playoffs for us?

  • The 2nd WC is still a distinct possibility for CLE. TEN, BAL, NYJ and SD are in free fall.

  • If we win out and Cincy wins every game except the division games, we win.

We'll then both be 10-6 and have split the heads up, but we'll have 4 division wins and they'll have 2.

The AFC is so strong, I'm not sure I want to the browns to make the playoffs...not this year. We'll be humiliated. What's sick is that one of the wildcard spots is going to be taken by either Denver or KC, who are arguably two of the best teams in the NFL. There's a good chance we would have to play one of them. Campbell is simply not a playoff qb, sorry but what I saw today was decent qb'ing...enough to not shit the bed. When teams start to game for him we're going to get stomped. The defense can only be on the field so much before they break. Our offense simply cannot make a playoff push. Does anyone think our defense can be on the field with Manning for an entire half and not gas out? there's simply no point in hoping we can back into the playoffs with our cheeks spread.

dude in one post you say chud is the man and deserves four years minimum and even said if shurmur had 2 more years we would be division winners. are you serious?

what would get this city and the players behind this staff faster than a wild card spot in the playoffs? just because you wouldn't want us to get embarrassed the team shouldn't strive for it?

    wow.

So what? A taste of the playoffs will make them hungrier for more next year. If they get humiliated, they need to learn to bounce back stronger. Jason Campbell played well vs KC, a team better than Cincinnati this year. Sure, he isn't THE answer for the Browns, but he is the only option for 2013, so we gotta make do with him. You wan't Weeden again? Instead of check-downs we'd have gotten sacks. If they get into the playoffs will they win? Not likely, but nobody expected more than 5 wins from them this year, and we are going to get at least 7. They've already improved from last year's team, and we should all be rooting for them to keep that momentum going until they win the Super Bowl.

What kind of attitude is this? Unfuckingbelieveable.

  • We have only won 1 game not started by Brian Hoyer, so winning out might not be quite so easy.

Sure, but in Hoyer's three starts he threw for 615 yards, 5 TD's and 3 INT for a rating of 82.6.

In Campbell's three starts, he's thrown for 803 yards, 6 TD and 3 INT for a rating of 88.

So it's not like Campbell is playing worse. He's actually playing better.

You can pimp up Hoyer to be some sort of savior all you want, but the stats don't lie.

Campbell didn't lose us that game, our special teams did.

Hoyer has never thrown for more than 3 TD's in a game, how exactly would that have helped us when the Bengals scored 41?

  • Basically the final wild card spot is open to everyone.

    East- Patriots 7-2

    West- Broncos 9-1

    South- Colts 7-3

    North- Bengals 7-4

    Wild Card 1- Chiefs 9-1

Wild Card 2- Jets or Dolphins 5-5

    1 game back - Chargers/Raiders/Steelers/Ravens/Browns/Titans 4-6

    leaving:

    Bills 4-7

    Texans 2-8

    Jaguars 1-9

  • game one we lost to dolphins. we need them to fall apart for the remainder of the season.

Comparing these stats are a bit misleading considering that Hoyer really only played 2 games. Sure, he started the 3rd but played one series before getting injured. You can compare the Ratings but you are inflating Campbell's yardage and TDs when it looks like they played an equal number of games.. Neither was outstanding, but Hoyer would have completed that early TD pass to Little. Campbell threw a line drive into the Dline where Hoyer shows greater touch on his passes..

Either way, both QBs are miles better than Weeden and we still have a very good shot at a wildcard if we win our next 2 games..

  • any chance Hoyer could rehab and make it back by the wild card game? is he PUP or IR or what?

what im saying is if healthy is he eligible?

I chose to use their three starts because the numbers were a little closer. If you use just their first two starts, it's a landslide victory for Campbell.

Fact is, we were so starved for any sort of successful QB that we latched on to Hoyer, even though he had a 3 INT game versus a terrible Minnesota defense that was without it's starting two corners.

If we didnt have a top 5 defense, we'd have zero wins so far this year.

I like Hoyer and i don't foresee him not being our day one starter next year, but he's no franchise QB. He's a guy who we can use to not lose us games while we groom our franchise QB behind him.

He's what Colt McCoy was intended to be.

The guy tore his ACL a month ago. He won't be back for January, you can hang your hat on that.

I think being put on IR also disqualifies that person from being on a postseason roster.

That said....IF the Browns were to beat the odds and make the playoffs they would likely have done it with Campbell at QB the rest of the way (unless Campbell is hurt and Weeden makes a miraculous renaissance). In that case, even if Hoyer were healthy and eligible they would no doubt go with the QB that guided them to the playoffs, not the guy that has been sidelined most of the year.
