Trent Richardson in a nutshell
-
I'm assuming from that picture that he runs the direction of the yellow arrow and not the red one. If that is the case, that is the exact description that Marshall Faulk used on the NFL network pregame show a couple weeks back that he runs to darkness as opposed to a good back who runs to daylight. It's like he looks for contact rather than finding a hole.
I guess that would be the definition of a running back with poor vision. Kindof like our other first round pick from that year who doesn't know how to go through his progressions or even look off the safety.

Here's trents playbook:
1. Get the ball
2. Run directly at the area with the most defenders
3. Fall down.

Jim Isray deserves the gel-free butt rape he endures from the TR fleecing. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy

thank GOD we traded him for a 1st..

I'm bummed, I was expecting a pic of TRich in a nuttshell with PoG.
LOL..
He runs to where the hole is supposed to be. At Bama the hole was there more times than not. Not so much in the NFL...
If bodies are "in the hole" as they often are he will dance for a bit and then slide one way or the other. Even his limited successful runs followed the above script, e.g., his coming of age, long run (32 yds) vs. the Bengals in Week 2 of 2012.

Well, for those with a better memory, a few months back someone posted similar shots of Trent when he was with the Browns- the above was not an isolated instance, doing equally dumb things. Besides poor vision, I was harping to PG Richardson isn't particularly explosive or fast either. His lack of long runs bears that out in spades- even when he does hit the right gap- he's getting run down. As I said, I saw Richardson get caught from behind in college- that never happened to Adrian Peterson or Barry Sanders. As USF pointed out- the back who dances in the NFL is going to get stopped dead in his tracks. Looks like Richardson has yet to unlearn that bad habit.
So it brings up a couple of questions- H&H surely saw the same stuff I did- Trent was drafted to be the next Peterson- did they just go on reputation? Even more damning is the Colts surely had access to the Browns gameday tape- did they even bother to look at this sort of stuff before they gave us a first round pick for this guy? Kudos to Lombardi and Banner for unloading him while he still had value.
Didn't Jim Brown call him "average"? He was being charitable. If Trent doesn't turn it around fast ,he's going to move up real high on the list of all time draft busts.
PS- that's the same thing which worries me about McCarron- is he good because the team around him is good?

I thought the same thing about McCarron. He's had great blocking around him. With that great blocking, he's made some really great throws. I'd still be willing to spend a 2nd or later on him though. I just don't want to move up to pick a QB and throw him to the fire. Pick a QB in our later 1 or 2nd and let him sit and learn.
