Broke the punter jaw. There will be a fine coming for that hit.

Do the players get to write the fines off of their taxes?
All on-field fine money collected by the NFL is used for charitable purposes. These funds have been used to support retired player programs, including the NFL Player Care Foundation and NFLPA Players Assistance Trust; disaster relief initiatives; and health-related charities.

Doubt it. Once he was in the way of the return he was like any other player and can be hit. And helmet to helmet does not apply to blocks, even if it was h to h.

Defenseless player + helmet to helmet = fine in todays NFL

I was just looking at the latest h to h rule, adopted this past summer. Only applies to tacklers and ball carriers. Ironically the Bungles voted against it. It is bad when someone gets hurt that badly but guys do get banged up on hard hits within the existing rules. I hope he is OK.Defenseless player + helmet to helmet = fine in todays NFL
Harrison out with a concussion.

Roethlisberger has had the Bengals D in a restroom in Milledgeville all night.

Huber has a fractured jaw, which would place him on IR.

Loved the end of the Cowboys game... Was only topped by Garrett's post-game comments.
Are we witnessing the last games of Marvin's time in Cinci? He seems to have done an awfull lot of teasing thru the years.

Pgh defense playing back, he is completing underneath. Bungles just scored, Pgh will try to run out the clock. Barring a fumble or pick, they should be able to do that but it makes for a boring game.

Too bad the stoolers don't have Romo playing qb.

Hey Richiswhere, under recent rule changes kickers and punters ARE considered defenseless players before the kick AND during the return, so you may be right on this one. Huber was clearly closing on the returner and intending to make a tackle though, so the rules may have to be tweaked once again or else no one can touch them. H to h does not seem to apply if I read the rule correctly.
