Browns hire George Kokinis as GM
By TOM WITHERS – 5 minutes ago
CLEVELAND (AP) — Baltimore pro personnel director George Kokinis has been hired as Cleveland's general manager, reuniting him with new Browns coach and close friend Eric Mangini.
Kokinis, who began his NFL career as an intern in the Browns' operations department in 1991, was hand-picked by Mangini, who recommended him during an interview to Browns owner Randy Lerner. Mangini took over as Cleveland's coach on Jan. 7, just one week after he was fired following three seasons with the New York Jets.
Determined to match a coach and GM who can work well together after the Romeo Crennel-Phil Savage relationship failed, Lerner is teaming up a pair of friends who shared an apartment when they first broke into the league and have remained tight.

Good deal or bad? Thoughts?
More good than bad for sure. Weird how it took so long, but better to take long than to re-start the interview process.
Lerner's plan of a front office on the same page is complete.

Good deal.....now maybe people can calm down a bit.
We haven't lost much at this point....FA is a month away and the draft is 3 months away....plenty of time for people to get settled and time to set some targets in both phases.
This isn't a moon shot we are talking about.

I am thinking the delay was to allow Kokinis to walk away from Balt. and Ozzie properly and on good terms.

True in the big scope of things, it wasn't a long wait. If it took a week to get it right, then no big deal.

New coaches like draft picks. DA is on the move it would seem.

I just verified this on the Brown's board & I am very pleased that we now have a cohesive management team that will work together. IMHO, we are definitely on the right track.
Kudos to Mr. Lerner.

I wonder if this means Lewis is gone for sure.....
After all, Baltimore released him....

All I can say is its about time. I've been waiting with baited breath for the announcement. I'm glad we have all the coaching team in, now we gotta wait to see what they do together.
Unfortunately, now we got nothing to talk about except the draft.... And that's more than a few days away.
