And if they miss??? Colts were better than a 1-15 team too.

Then we swing again next year.

Thats the problem. U can't do that. This FO is way to smart for that right?

  • The problem is that we keep missing.

  • If Manziel is there how can you pass on him?We need QB and heres A Heisman winner with great stats and playmaking ability...What are you wainting for if you pass on him? and how bad does your team gotta be to get this guy your after?

Colts got Luck but they went 1-15 to get him.You wanna do that? Our awful season is behind us...get something out of it!

There's been only one Heisman Trophy winning QB to win a playoff game in the last 15 years.

    His name is Timothy Tebow.

    The Heisman means nothing.

you know why? because there might be a DE sitting there as well who would upgrade our pass rush 3-fold.

    OR

there could be a game changing WR sitting there that would give us a serious WR upgrade so not every defensive backfield would be keying on gordon.

not everybody thinks the same. for every johnny manziel fan or bridgewater fan, there is a clowney and a watkins fan. hell there are people that think it'd be great to take a trade deal that comes across our desk to switch 2 spots so they can pick up one of these guys everybody is in love with and STILL get someone on our board plus another #1 pick for next year, cuz even with manziel or any of these other guys at QB we're still be lucky to go 8 and 8.

now if you were willing to bet and say if we got manziel we'd be an instant playoff team........i'd take that bet.

yup...upgrading our pass rush is gonna magically transform our anemic offense...you are daft.

  • I think our pass rush will be improved by Mingo's natural progression and all these guys playing together another year. An ILB with coverage skill and CB upgrade will improve the pass rush as well.

  • Unless we switch back to a 4-3....

He hit the rookie wall, happens to a lot of guys. The guy will put on 15 Lbs in this off-season. How can you immediately call a 21 year old with that much athletic ability a bust? He'll figure it out, I guarantee it.

especially since he only played 55% of defensive snaps and recorded 5 sacks. 10+ sacks isn't out of the question for next year with some added bulk and more playing time.

  • Its not going to matter if we get manziel if this kneejerk regime brings in a piece of shit for a HC which is more likely than not..

  • Why anyone is even considering wanting the Browns to draft anyone but a QB in the top 5 is beyond me... Johnny Football is worth the risk if he can become our franchise QB... Until we solve the QB issue nothing else really matters... It is fun to look at depth charts of our front 7 and red zone mismatches of sammy watkins josh gordon and jordon cameron...but this is all mute if we do not have a championship level quarterback.

Lets take a look at this years First Team All Pro Team

    QB - Peyton Manning***

RB - LeSean McCoy, Jamaal Charles

    FB- Mike Tolbert

    TE- Jimmy Graham

    WR- Calvin Johnson, Josh Gordon

    T- Joe Thomas, Jason Peters

    G- Louis Vasquez*, Evan Mathis

    C- Ryan Kalil

    DE- JJ Watt, Robert Quinn

    DT- Gerald Mccoy, Ndamukong Suh

    OLB- Robert Mathis, Lavonte David

    ILB- Luke Kuechly, NaVorro Bowman*

    CB- Richard Sherman*, Patrick Peterson

    S Earl Thomas*, Eric Berry

    PK - Justin Tucker

    P- Johnny Hekker

    KR- Cordarrelle Patterson

Out of the 27 players recognized only Peyton Manning has a super bowl ring...

and the only other offensive player still in the playoffs is a guard who protects...Peyton Manning.

On defense you have players who will represent the NFC in the superbowl, but the point is this...

Since 1999 the Browns have had the opportunity to draft in the Top 10 11 times , only once have the Browns drafted a QB in that time...Tim Couch (who is arguably THE BEST QB the Browns have had to date) The other 10 have been picks spent on addressing "other needs"

    Case closed,

    GET A CHAMPIONSHIP LEVEL QUARTERBACK

That's a great argument, good stuff.

But Robert Mathis has that same SB ring.

We have a good QB on the roster in Hoyer. In at least some peoples opinions ( mine included for what its worth) Manziel and others are not elite QBs worthy of a top 5 pick. Add to that the fact a QB doesn't have to be top 10 to be successful (Wilson, Foles, Capernick). I don't want a QB in this draft in the top 5 picks.

  • @miktoxic said:

bullshit. you 2 belong together. or why not you 2 start the cleveland chapter of the johnny football fan club? have your own website where you can sell such items as the johnny football bobble head, his jacksonville jersey, a 5'11' to scale blowup sex doll of johnny football, a johnny football replica penis, the johnny football endorsed red, white and blue beer, the replica jaguar helmet/mug holder and the johnny manziel signed box of swizzle sticks.

and make sure you donate all your proceeds to the johnny football 'walk again' fund.

I'll make my point one more time. Manziel through his play and stats had arguably one of the best careers all around in recent memory at the QB position. Pro organizations aren't stupid, they see that the read-option is getting QB's killed when ran consistently. What Manziel has shown is he's a special athlete behind center. That doesn't mean he's going to run around and get killed in the NFL, it shows he can do what Wilson does, what Newton does etc. He's not going to crumple like old man Weeden or the other duds we've had back under there. You can say whatever you want, but it's plain to see Manziel is going to be a franchise player in the NFL. You can call me gay for him all you want, but I just want to see a damn franchise QB in Cleveland.

We don't need a guard, we don't a CB, we need a QB who isn't a slow-thinking moron. Look at the the playoff teams and look at the top 10 teams who are drafting. come May. Some playoff teams have good defenses, some don't. Some bad teams have 3-5 pro bowlers (see our Brownies), some good teams have one or two. The common theme? Playoff teams have franchise QB's and crappy teams don't. The thought of taking a OL guy early and taking another later round QB literally makes me cringe. The Browns will be losers until they have draft the next elite guy, period. I'm willing to bet the nicest 12 pack you know that Manziel will be that guy for a team. I just hope the Browns don't miss him.

    A+ and some.
