since some people lack the ability to recognize sarcasm I think we need a special font or identifier for sarcastic comments. Im pretty sure in every single thread, someone misinterprets a sarcastic comment and a pointless argument insues....I'm sorry i'm confused, how is signing Peyton Manning even a remote possibility? Is it because we're going to interview the Broncos OC? And that's what you think might bring Manning here?
Let me provide some background first to how unlikely I find that scenario. There are some scientists that feel the universe is infinite. Meaning you travel out in one direction and you're gonna be basically going for infinity, you'll never come to any "end". So to go with that theory, they say there must be infinite numbers of earths floating around in some far off corners of the universe. So somewhere, there's another clevfan4life and another bbedward posting on a sports talk forum about either the Browns or some minor variation...maybe the city's name isn't Cleveland. I dunno, this is theory afterall. So somewhere, if the universe if infinite...it stands to reason that Peyton Manning is playing for the Cleveland Browns on another earth. So my point is that even if this "infinite universe" idea could be proven to be true...I'm still not buying there's a possibility of a Peyton Manning playing for the Cleveland Browns......anywhere. Infact, if the universe collapsed and re expanded all over again....you could wait trillions upon trillions of years and you would still never find a Peyton Manning under center in a Browns uni. It's simply not going to happen. Unless there was a Manning copy somewhere who was functionally Retarded but had an arm cannon.....maybe they could fool that one into trotting out there on opening day. But even that guy would be wondering what the F is wrong with himself after taking that first snap helmet to chin sack from a regular down lineman who just beat his man around the corner.
Sorry if that was longwinded and dickish...it isn't personal. It's just where I am with this organization. I would like nothing more than to have a team here that could conceivably attract a talent like Peyton Manning. Reality is these guys are not stupid. Even the actually stupid ones have agents who are not stupid and tell them uh uh no way. QB's come here as FA's when they're all washed up and done and have consigned themselves to take a beating for a year or two while they collect their final retirement checks. Sad but troo.

Just saw it on Twitter.
FWIW, Grossi and a few other sources are hearing that Adam Gase will be the guy that lands the job.
So here's how this worksJust saw it on Twitter.
FWIW, Grossi and a few other sources are hearing that Adam Gase will be the guy that lands the job.
Bill Belichick is a pretty good coach and Tom Brady is a pretty good QB ...HOF if you will...and they win consistantly
And every year teams would come knocking on New Englands door wanting to hire Belichick's assistant coaches...you remember Romeo,Haley,McDanielsWeis,Mangini, etc.
Yet Bill and Tom kept on winning...Kept going to playoffs, championship games and even super bowls
even though his coaches kept getting hired away!
Now let's see if we can find a similar situation? ahhh Denver!
Pretty good coach, pretty good QB,pretty good Offensive coordinator...
...They go 13-3 their first year together...McCoy get hired away and up steps the Qb coach Adam Gase and Denver
is right back in the playoffs, don't miss a beat in fact look even better than the year before.
Now let's head up to Seattle...Got a pretty good defensive HC there in Pete Carroll...
...Stands to reason he's got a pretty good defense! even though his Defensive Coordinator
Gus Bradley gets hired away by Jacksonville...in steps Dan Quinn... and Seattle's defense, like
Denvers offense,doesn't miss a beat...See a pattern?These coordinators have great situations
The guy's I want us to talk to are the one's who over achieved...
Like how the hell did SanDiego win 4 straight to go from 5-7 to 9-7 and make the playoffs?
How did Pittsburgh start 0-4 but only missed the playoffs by a botched call?
How did St Louis beat the Colts,Bears and Saints with Kellen fuckingClemens?
How did Green Bay win any games at all with Matt Flynn??? He couldn't even beat out Matt McGloin?
Maybe who we ought to be looking at are the assistants who didn't have the perfect storm...faced a little adversity...improvised,compromised...overachieved!

The Browns will hire Schiano, draft Manziel, sign Randy Moss and then we can change the team name to the Brown Assholes.
I'm very disillusioned with this FO at the current moment. I'm hoping they wow everyone and pull some unforeseen move out of their asses, but I doubt that will be the case.

Maybe we can pick up tom Brady though? If we get that broncos OC.

Is Brady a FA? Sorry that's why I thought your original post had some seriousness behind it because Manning can opt out with the Broncos after this year I beleive. In any case my bad.

You watch, they'll draft Manziel and start him opening day. He'll be running for his life from snap 1. By midseason that kids career will be over. Have we not seen this before? Is this not getting old? Before you draft a qb or tempt a good FA to come here...you'd better have a good offensive line.

We have two first rounders, a second rounder and two thirds on our offensive line. You watch, they'll draft Manziel and start him opening day. He'll be running for his life from snap 1. I believe we have one of the highest aggregate ADP's along the line in the entire NFL.
I don't know what else you want. Do you want five first rounders? Five top 5 picks?
How about we get an offensive scheme and stick with it. How about we get a coaching staff and stick with it. Consistency is a line's biggest friend, it's a lot different than playing at the skill positions. Linemen have to play as a group, not as individuals, which is really hard to do when you're learning a new scheme every year and a new position every week.
Our offensive line finished 19th in the league in rushing power rankings, ahead of both Pittsburgh and Baltimore, and 18th in passing power rankings, slightly behind Pittsburgh and Baltimore. We gave up a sack on 7.5% of passing plays, compared to their 7.3%.
We have a completely average offensive line with below average runningbacks and a below average quarterback.
It's not the offensive line.
What is most interesting is that we converted 70% percent of our short yardage runs (3rd and >2, 4th and >2), yet Indianapolis only converted 65% of theirs.
This tells me two things:
1) our offensive line is better than theirs, contrary to what everybody was saying around the time of the TR trade.
2) TR is useless.
We don't need a better offensive line, we need better production from our offensive line. Denver is ranked near the top of the league in OL power rankings with their LT and C on IR. I highly doubt that their backups are just miles better than our starters, they just have a smarter QB and more skilled runningbacks. If Manning sees a blitz, he changes the protection. When Weeden or Campbell see a blitz, they don't recognize it and then take the sack, and that reflects poorly on our line.
So while I don't agree with your sentiment that we need a better offensive line, I do agree that we need better production from our line as well as our backfield.

Regarding #1, that's why I'm so disillusioned with this FO, Haslam saw how things are done in Pittsburgh- continuity. Apparently not.
Regarding #2, Manning is one of the best- if not the best in recognizing the protection is breaking down, and either quickly unloads the ball, or ducks. I watched enough playoff football the past two weeks to realize our guard play sucks. We don't need first rounders- but there has to be something better out there than what we have- our interior line can't get to the second level blocking between the tackles to save their ass. Most of the time they're getting knocked on their ass, or blowing a blocking scheme, and that's not all on the qb. IMO Joe Thomas looked like shit this year because he was constantly having to look out what the bozos to the right of him were doing. I do agree it was amazing how much better the offense in general looked when Hoyer was back there getting rid of the ball in a timely fashion.

Give me 14 hours, I'll have something for you.

Just took the o-line coaching position with the Steelers. I imagine he won't be in Pittsburgh for a super long time but rather use the Steelers as a building block to another head coaching gig. I LOVE the hire tho.
