  • Some years ago I developed a system to determine which team could be designated the Team of the Decade in each sport. The team that wins the championship gets 10 pts. The team that loses gets 6 pts. The teams that lose the "semifinals" gets 3 pts, and any team that makes the playoff gets 1 point. Through the first 3 years of the 2010s decade here is the current standings of points accumulated by each team:

    Ravens: 14 points

Packers: 13 points...plus get 1 pt. for this year

    Giants: 10 points

Patriots: 10 points...plus can get either 3/6/10 more

    49ers: 9 points...plus can get either 3/6/10 more

    Steelers: 7 points

    Falcons: 5 points

    Bears: 3 points

    Jets: 3 points

Broncos: 2 pts....plus can get 3/6/10 for this year

Seahawks: 2 pts....plus can get 3/6/10 this year

Saints: 2 pts....plus 1 pt. for this year

    Colts: 2 pts...plus 1 for this year

Bengals 2 pts. plus 1 for this year

    Texans: 2 pts

Eagles: 1 pt. plus 1 for this year

Chargers: 1 pt. plus 1 for this year

Chiefs: 1 pt. plus 1 for this year

    Vikings: 1 point

    Redskins: 1 pt.

    Lions: 1 pt.

Panthers: -0- pts....but will get 1 for this year

There are 10 teams that will still have -0- pts. as they have not made the playoffs at in all the decade of the 2010s:

Raiders, Cardinals, Cowboys, Rams, Browns, Titans, Bucs, Dolphins, Jags, Bills

The Pats and the 49ers can take over the lead with a Super Bowl win....or even a SB appearance.

But, if both of them lose Sunday, the Ravens tied with the Packers will maintain the lead for another year.

The Seahawks and Broncos cannot quite make the lead even if they win the SB.
