  • Sorry for you loss Russ, hang in there. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

  • I'm truly saddened to hear that, Russ.

My sincerest condolences go out to you and your family.

    -Alan

  • Deepest condolences and all the best to you and your family, Russ. I had only heard of sepsis and never new how dangerous it is. Thanks for sharing your story and trying to help others.

    Best,

    Juki

  • Sepsis just took my father last night and before yesterday I'd never heard of it. After researching, it's incredible how dangerous and common this infection is.

This is well worth a quick read to educate yourselves. When the Cleveland Clinic ICU can't do anything to stop it, you know it's hardcore. It usually starts in bad hospital or nursing home settings.

Please take the time to read this when you get a chance, it's something that can be detained if detected early enough, but a few hours can really make the difference between the antibiotics working or not.

Nobody should have see a loved one die this way when it could be avoided.

  • Mr. Riff:

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad, losing a parent is devastating. God Bless you and your family,

    take care.

I very, very nearly lost my Dad to colon cancer many years ago now. With all the amazing things our medical

science can do... life is still so fragile. I haven't heard much at all about sepsis...

    Hang in there...

  • God bless you and your family.

  • God bless you and your family.

Truly sad news Russ, thoughts go to you and your family right now.

    Howie.

  • GOD bless!

  • Wow, I'm truly humbled by all the well wishes and support. I really posted this as more of a heads up than a call for sympathy, but I can't begin to thank you all enough, it means a lot.

We as Browns fans are a special lot that stick together and have each others back. We may debate, argue and bicker at times, but it is nice to have a separate "internet family" like this.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible some day, be it at a tailgate or whatever.

You're all great folks and thank you so much for taking the time to wish my family and I well.

Thanks again and I hope most of you took the time to educate yourselves a little bit about this deadly infection. If a loved one turns really sick for no apparent reason, it could be the onset of sepsis, not just some kind of flu. It is of vital importance to get it diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible or it can completely consume the body where treatment won't work.

God Bless all of you and Go Browns!!!

Actually this kind of hit home with me currently. This week, I have come down with the worst flu I've ever had. My step-son and I have been home since Tuesady with the same flu-bug, and we couldn't imagine feeling much worst without an organ failure. At what point do you decide to not be a sissy and go to the doctors instead of riding it out?

I've been thinking all week that as sick as I am right now that it would probably take the life of an elder person.

Hope you get better bro, the flu that bad sucks.

A few weeks back there was a 24 hour stomach virus going around, but it sounds like you have something different. It was so bad that the body starts to seize up from not being able to retain any fluids. I seriously thought about going for an IV.

  • Russ, that is awful news and i'm sorry for your loss. i lost a close cuz in a car accident Sunday night. Mama Roach and i drove to Baltimore yesterday (no fun) for the funeral and just returned. Your family is in our prayers.

  • Sorry to hear that too, Roach.

    Life is so fragile.

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your Father Russ. You and your family are in my prayers.

You're right about it being more common that we know. I just saw a show yesterday called The Doctors (I think) that talked about it. It is a tragedy that can be avoided.

Take care and my thoughts are with you.
