Hate The Thought Of Trading Up

Would anyone give up, say, next years 1st and our extra third to swap both our firsts for both Rams firsts?
Personally I think that's too much. Certainly not next years first.

I would not do it. Its an opinion based question so my opinion is that the difference in talent we can select at 2 vs. 4 is negligible. The move from 26 to 13 would be nice but I thinkt he price is to high. There will be a very good football player available at 26.
I still think the better scenario is to trade down to somewhere between 6 and 10 picking up a 2nd round pick and maybe another 4th. With that arsenal of picks we could conceivably end up with 3 picks in the 1st round in a draft ripe with talent. Likely then we could also trade out of one pick in each of the 3rd and 4th rounds moving them to 2nds and 3rd for next year.
I know a lot of you hate the idea of trading down, acquiring a ton of rookies etc but to me this is the best draft for trade downs in a long time. I also fully believe that by May the "top 3" are sliding down the board.

just a thought really, right now I couldnt say if id do it or not. I still have no interest in trading down. The top 3? The QBs? I have said multiple times I think theres a chance none of em go top 10. With that though, I think theres some freaks at the top. Clowney, Watkins, Robinson, Mack, and Matthews are the gems imo. I expect Clowney and and one of the OL to be gone. I dont want to invest that high in Watkins or Matthews because of their positions. That leaves, Robinson (who I expect to be gone by 4), Mack, or of course QB. I havent seen anything on Gilbert, he may end up in this group also.I would not do it. thats, really really cheap.
Eh, I don't think it's cheap. I think it's a fair trade though. I'd suspect it might be exactly what the rams want - hoping that the browns get a high pick next year.
I just put a really high value on our first rounders for some reason even though we've drafted a lot of bums in the 1st round.
I think at least 1 QB goes in the top 3 though. Probably to the Jags. I suspect that might be Bridgewater - I can still see the texans getting Manziel too though seeming pretty set Schaub is gone, neither Keenum nor Yates aren't their guy.
Gawd I almost wish it was draft day already.

If Hoyer plays as well as he did last season or better I'd be real happy if Cleveland found their backup qb for the next 7-9 yrs to sit behind Marcus Mariotta.
A real good 2015 season would be a Franchise Tagged Hoyer with Mariotta learning a year with a "2014 late round flyer" too push him. That situation with great young playmakers at about every offensive position. Yeaaaa.
Or draft a qb with no more to work with than last year's talent.

very presumptuous. Remember, Hoyer was Lombardi's guy. Have you ever watched Mariota play? There are as many flaws, if not more, in his game as there are in any of this years QBs. Hes also not guaranteed to come out. He has what, 2" on Manziel? Then you have Winston, who I think has some major mental ? marks. He already said he wants to stay 2 more years. I also think the baseball thing with him is real. Theres way more money in baseball, and its not nearly as taxing on the body. I think hes trying to get drafted early (er?) in the MLB draft. This is all pointless anyways because were going QB with one of our first three picks and we will not be going QB again in '15.If Hoyer plays as well as he did last season or better I'd be real happy if Cleveland found their backup qb for the next 7-9 yrs to sit behind Marcus Mariotta.

I think if Mariota was in this draft he may be a top 3 prospect. He definitely has flaws though
With that said, we definitely can't rely on Mariota next year. We need to worry about this year. Can't predict how the cards will fall with him and base our future on it.
Also, Mariota plays in a bit of a different offense than what he'd be playing here.

I don't want to trade up either, but I can see Haslam being aggressive and pushing the hand on Farmer.
My big board is:
Manziel, Bridgewater, Bortles, Watkins.
Stay put and you can get one of those guys

If this matches their board you can trade down to at least 10 , grab an extra 1st round pick and still get one of your guys. I am close to 100% certain one of these QB's is available still at 10.

I don't think that in this draft class that Farmer is going to be so dumb as to move up to #1. Maybe up to 2 or 3 if he is certain that those teams are trying to let someone jump ahead of us, but I don't even that. I think that one of the top 3 QB's will still be there for us and I honestly think Farmer only has them apart by a few pick selections. Maybe we does get stuck with his #3 choice and takes Watkins instead? Who knows. Honestly I could see him trading DOWN to around 10 and grabbing a guy like Carr or a top 3 guy who falls.

Not scared of a bust, but I also don't want to see our FO take a chance on a guy that most likely won't work out. I am not too worried about that happening with this years top 3 QB's or even Carr for that matter. Honestly really like the top 5 QB's in this draft. But there have been drafts where QB needy teams have just jumped on band wagon guys just to take a 1st round QB (AKA Titans and Jaguars) but this year it shouldn't be an issue of taking a risk on a late draft riser, but rather taking the normal risk on a top QB selection.

Teams reach for QBs because if they dont, someone else will and theyd have to go farther down their list and get a lower rated guy. The risk is worth it because while the risk is high, the reward is priceless. Not scared of a bust, but I also don't want to see our FO take a chance on a guy that most likely won't work out. If there was a cant miss talent, there would never be an opourtunity to trade up, and if for some reason there was, you would complain about the price. The Colts traded 3-4 years of Peyton Manning for Luck.Exactly- none of the qbs in this draft have ever been touted as "can't miss" Andrew Luck level talent- it would be foolhardy to trade that much away on a risky proposition. Sit at #4 and take the best available. We are guaranteed a stud there, and give away nothing.

Yeah, like losing the Super Bowl with Manning- get your facts straight.
OK, you're on- go look up where a team gave up multiple first round picks to get a qb, and came out on the winning side. I'm betting I'm going to hear crickets chirping.

I'm not- for a couple of reasons- #1 being I'm running out of years real quick. #2 I don't buy into qb hype anymore. #3 If you bust on a top five prospect it doesn't set you back just one year, it sets you back a couple- like Sanchez with the Jets, Harrington with the Lions, Lordy, Wee-done got more chances than he deserved, just based on his draft status.

The bust factor is another three seasons in the dumpster. Care to be a Redskins fan right now and see your #2 overall go to the Rams, when you have serious holes that need fixing?

Well if we just play the percentages it would be a good idea to trade both our first our 2nd and 3rd for the top spot. Then just pick anybody. Because the first guy taken has a better chance no?

Off the top of my head, Eli manning was basically traded for multiple first round picks. Perhaps he's not as good as his brother, Brady or Rodgers, but he still has two superbowl rings. I bet you the giants aren't regretting the trade.

Losing the Super Bowl? I really was using that as a guage for what the Colts gave up when they drafted Luck. And teams trading up for QBs doesnt happen very often, generally because the teams in front also need a QB. Elway, Manning and RGIII are the only ones who come to mind.Yeah, like losing the Super Bowl with Manning- get your facts straight.

I disagree that busting on a QB sets you back any more than busting on any other position. It used to, when the teams and players you mentioned, were signed to those crazy contracts. Not upgrading at QB will set us back as much as missing on a guy at 4. I am not advocating a trade up, but im also not dismissing the idea. Duh the lower rated guys turn out to be the better prospects huh....hahaha. You can look up those numbers and get back to me. and you would lose (unless you took the spread which would prob be cleve as a 2 touchdown underdog).
