Harrison dumped by Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals released outside linebacker James Harrison on Thursday, making him the second player they have cut this week.
The team confirmed his release not long after the 11-year linebacker tweeted a goodbye.
The 2008 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Harrison spent just one season with the Bengals after playing 10 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Harrison signed with the Bengals last April after being cut by Pittsburgh. He had only 30 tackles in his lone season in Cincinnati. Aside from the zero tackles he had through one game as a rookie in 2002, the 30 tackles were the lowest single-season total of his career. He also had two sacks and an interception in 2013.
"It was great for our coaches, players and fans to have James on our team last year," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "He's a player everyone looks up to because of his ability, his accomplishments and his drive to be the best. He helped us win a division title with his play and with the example he set.
"It's time for us to go a different direction now, with some younger guys, but we will all still reap benefits from having had James with us as a Bengal last year."
Harrison's agent, Bill Parise, said his client wants and intends to play in 2014.

I hope he comes back to the burgh. Id happily take him on a one year deal, plug him at inside lb next to timmons while the young guys are groomed. He's a monster against the run and was misused in bungle land.

I'm all for the steelers doing some dumb shit like that don't get me wrong, I'm just curious as to why a Steeler fan would want this. He wasn't an ILB even in his prime. Asking him to play ILB in a 3-4 would require of him some pretty significant coverage responsibilities that he's incapable of now and one would question if he ever was capable of it. He's a hybrid...always was.

for the late hit he put on pat white as he was going out of bounds that basically ended his days as a QB. not that he was great as a pro but it was a viscious hit on a defenseless player...totally unnecessary

if they (the steelers) resign harrison it would only be a minimal contract so he could retire as a steeler. that's it. he's done.
