New member here, big Browns fan

In England it is not uncommon for soccer teams to have fans all over the country, my team Tottenham Hotspur enjoys far reaching support all over the UK. Since joining this board I am surprised though how many Browns fans aren't from Cleveland, it's such a huge country that I assumed all teams would have local support.
Never forget watching Chargers Cowboys in SD and thinking Dallas must be at home looking at the crowd!

Hello to all my fellow Browns fans. This is my first time here on this great Browns site. Iam a big Browns fan living in Philadelphia. Been a fan for 30 + yrs. Love the team colors. Iam a collector of various Browns items, and other NFL teams also. I have a collection of Browns football card dating back to the late 50's to 2013. Over 70 games on dvd ranging from 1979 to 2012. Not easy being a Browns fan due to this teams record for the past 15 yrs. But no matter how bad things have been, i will always cheer for this team. GO BROWNS !!

Spurs probably have slightly less support after last night's showing...
Hi new guy!

Part of the reason that the Browns are so popular all around the country is that beginning in the 60s there has been a huge diaspora of Browns fans occurring in this county. During the 50s Cleveland was like the 5th 6th largest city in the country (behind like only NY/LA/Philly/Detroit),
but then the oil embargo of 1973 hit and the cost of heating with natural gas went through the roof, and people just wanted to get away from where it was cold. (the same has happened to Detroit/Pitt/Buff/etc. etc. Along with that came a jobs crisis with manufacturing and unions being deemphasized and people moved for work.
So all those Browns fans spread out from everywhere to the Carolina/Florida/Texas/Ariz./California etc.
But, the loyalty that the team engendered still remained with those fans despite their own personal relocation.
So, a lot of the fans around the country are from this area. I do not think the Browns have picked up a ton of FRAK fans, like the Steelers have. But obviously winning could change that.

Sorry about Philadelphia, but welcome to the Board. Quite an impressive card and dvd collection. Besides a few jerseys and sweatshirts and hats, I don't really have much in the way of Browns parahernalia. I've ran into Browns fans all over the country, and the migration of the late 60's
and 70's played a big part in that national interest. Good teams in the glory years helped too.

I'm new here too, so welcome! I hail from Lethbridge, AB Canada. Been a die-hard Browns fan since I was conscious of the sport.
Something about this management team that makes me trust it. There's a different feel to the offseason this year and it flirts with my optimistic side.

Health care could still use a lot of improvement, but it's a much more fair system for sure.
And weed is legal for medicinal purposes... Not quite as radical as what they've done in Colorado. THAT is the route everyone needs to go in.
Our football isn't nearly as good though. Hahaha

Can't say I blame anyone for moving south. I've been thinking of packing up and heading out myself while the kids are still young enough to adapt. I love Cleveland but the area is definitely depressed and the winters are brutal. This one has sucked immensely.

Welcome to both of you "newbies". You both come across as true/loyal Browns' Fans & that will serve you well here on this Board.
Mr MB, I love your statement,.. "Something about this management team that makes me trust it. There's a different feel to the off season this year and it flirts with my optimistic side."'We are seeing decisions being made with confidence & a determination to turn things around that I haven't seen in DECADES. It's a "grab the bull by it's horns" mentality & I love it.

Seems a lot of people on this board dont actually reside in Cleveland. We all need our Browns fix, and we seem to be the group that cant get it in the normal social gathering.

I've only been to Cleveland for Browns games and a couple concerts. I'm originally from Columbus. Was raised on the Browns. My brother was 20 years older, born in the 40s. My dad in the 20s. I used to listen to stories about Cleveland Municipal, Jim Brown, Paul Warfield, and the rest.
I've lived all over, but represent my Browns loud and proud.
I was watching a game in a BW3 in NorCal a couple years ago and we were beating Shitanasty, on my birthday no less. I was clapping and cheering. Some dude came across the bar and said "I want to shake your hand. I've never met a real Browns fan." One of the best compliments ever.
