Desean Jackson

Has anyone heard any news on Desean Jackson coming to the browns? I heard he can be had for a third round pick but I'm not sure about his contract, what do you guys think? I think it would be bad ass with Gordon and then we wouldn't need to take Watkins at #4 and use the pick for another need

We discussed it earlier...pretty sure the consensus was nah. The guy has an ego and his skill compared to Benjamin and Hawkins isnt worth the contract and draft pick.

Jackson is far better than both of those players but he is definitely not worth a third round pick. He got his bell rung and is apprehensive ever since. Still good but not good enough to throw away a pick on unless it is 4th on out.

I have to say that talent wise there is no question he is better than Benjamin. As far as Hawkins lets just say its a toss up at the very least. Having said that Desean is a prima donna and would just be a headache. He will also want far more than he is worth which is why he is available anyway. I pass.

Precisely the problem. I believe he is better than Hawkins and Benjamin, but he certainly isn't worth the money he will demand.

He's now been cut, apparently. What would you pay him? Not assuming he'd come, but I'd give him $8m a year.

Signing him would take a WR off the table in our early draft rounds ........would rather draft Watkins or Evans at 4

That's what I thought - signing him would remove the need for a WR early on, we could much more easily focus on getting an OL or pass rusher at 4.

Id rather evans, just for height reasons. Same reason I don't like Desean, too short.

I wouldnt take him at 100,000 a year has ties to crips gang members not something you would want as part of your team in my opinion

I agree, but I have no idea how common it is for players to have these links.

It's more common than you would think, but still not an everyday occurance. We're all only six degrees away from a member of the Crips anyway.

I'm not worried about his gang affiliations. I'm worried about what he does on the field and what he does in the locker room as it pertains to the team.

If he's going to complain about not getting the ball after a bad game, no thanks.

We're not the Parriots. We don't have a stable enough program yet to take in multiple character concerns solely because of their talent. Give it a couple of years.
