I don't care that has a marketing campaign or parties hard. The NFL is full of young men and I'm sure they all know how to party.

I've seen too much recently with the qb that is super athletic and has the "intangibles". Give me a pocket passes with a good brain between the ears any day over the athletic scrambler who has the it factor.

There's nothing that I've seen that warrants a first round pick from the kid. None of the QBs in the class really stand out to me as a sure fire first round pick. Yeah its a crap shoot but I like the odds of a later round pick and use the early picks for immediate impact players.

I like hoyer and a young buck to sit and learn. I just wonder if hoyer will continue to impress or once other teams have tape on him that he won't be as good as we've seen. I just like hoyers play. He reads the d quick and gets the ball out with good accuracy. Its hard to stop that no matter how much tape you have on someone.

And the did he fuck your mom or he fuck your girlfriend comebacks are weak. Let's get some better insults please. I know the posters on this board are a little more creative than that.

Not sure what you mean but if you're trying to be a dick you've achieved it.

Those are the same opinions I've had since all this draft talk has come up.

  • I still wonder what the deal is with him, and his leaving the Manning football camp.

This isn't just "college kid" stuff:

    ********************************************************

According to a source, Manziel was a problem for Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning from the moment he arrived at the Louisiana passing camp until the second his parents called in sick for him.
The source told the Daily News that Manziel’s troubles started way before he went out partying into the early hours on Friday morning.

    Cons

    -Hired marketing major

    -Got drunk in college

    -Isn't 6'5" 230.

    -You don't like his face

    That about sum it up?

In a word... no. Only the size is germane, although not in and of itself a disqualifier. The off-field stuff is justifiably dismissed.

    A) "JFF rarely progresses through his reads/lacks pre-snap read ability". Watching some of the Bama game and a few other snippets of Manziel film, I found this assertion to be mostly untrue.

At 0:29 we see Manziel progress through his reads from left to right, eventually settling on Evans running a deep route down the right sideline. Manziel throws a great pass where only Evans can make the catch.

At about 1:39 we see Manziel make a fantastic pre-snap read. Evans is lined up on the right side of the formation against press coverage. Manziel recognizes the press coverage and begins his read in the center of the field, quickly progressing to Evans. He floats another nice pass deep to Evans.

I know I only see what I want to see (Mike H. has said so, so it must be true), but I see something completely different.

At 0:29 I see JF looking off the safety then going to his intended-all-along Evans. Not a bad thing... just not a progression read.

At 1:39 I see essentially the same thing except that JF does not look the safety off nearly as long as in the 0:29 play. Again not a bad thing since there was a slot WR to help hold the Safety in this case, but again, not a progression read. But the shortened look off almost let the Safety back into the play. Was there a good pre-snap read in this later play? Maybe... but Evans was his primary so much of the time, it's hard to tell.

    GuNNerGatSKy said:

I have to say though after watching all that Manziel film I'm a Mike Evans fanboy. That motherfucker can go up and catch a goddamn football. IMO, particularly from the standpoint of what the browns need in a no.2 receiver, Evans is the no.1 receiver in the draft.

Yes, Evans can jump... also runs great go routes, fades and flags/ corners... many complete with push offs. But crosses and slants? Not so much... gets the gator arms pretty fast. And as for quick hitches and bubble screens? Forget it... he's not elusive.

I wonder what the age:hate ratio for Johnny Manziel is.

Most of the old timers here are opposed, but I'd like to see a wider sample size.

Quite possible, yet, Sonny-boy, you continue to refute the collective wisdom of our years. Kids these days... I swear... no respect for their elders.

And stop with the "hate" BS. It's called skepticism... and it's normally considered "healthy".

    @mike-h said:

Love it, Mike. I still think the majority of Manziel bashers are older gentlemen.

Really want to know? Start a poll.

Yes, I've said elsewhere I don't "hate" Manziel, so call me a severe skeptic about his game translating to the NFL. And naming names, Charley Casserly, who knows a tad more about football than I do has almost exactly the same concerns about Manzel's on field game.If we should draft him, I'll hope for the best.

D Bone, did Johnny Football not sign your autograph?

OK, I will try to do my best to not say another damn thing about JF- and I'll drop the off-field stuff. Personally I think it's an issue, others don't- whatever. Manziel is the most polarizing qb prospect we've ever had on this forum, going past Brady Quinn, all the way to Tim Couch. Seems the scouts are equally at polar opposites, from high first round pick all the way to I wouldn't touch him in the first or second round.

  • your right the entire board hates you gunner.

Yea yea still pissed me the fuck off when I woke up this morning and seen my thread deleted. Fucking fuckers. But I digress. I just want the draft over with it is truely starting to drive me ape shit.

  • man i wish i had a creative brain cell in me head to make my user name with the words GUNNNER and SACKY in it.

nothing better than some guns and some sacks (no not the hairy kind, the kind that comes in a little zip-loc).

gunner you got 82 posts with no warning points. i'm a spilled drink away from being 'ghoulie' banned. things get merged and deleted all the time.

just know who you can piss off and who you can't and you'll be alright.

  • Im pretty sure Im the original Johnny Football supporter on this board.....glad yaall are finally hopping on board. Dude has abilities not many have, or have had. With that being said, I doubt he ends up here.

ok, alright. so some people (myself included) might think than manziel could be a NFL QB. some are gonzo for the guy and some are more realistic and say if farmer likes him they'll understand and get behind the kid.

then there are those like me who didn't like him from the day i saw him BUT i have watched and pondered through everything manziel bortles and bridgewater (mccarron, fales and garropollo as well) since they declared.

i don't think any of these guys warrant a #4 pick. i think mack is the game-changer and would be my pick. then i'd go after evans (you know the guy that saved JFs ass in soooooooooo many games?). gilbert next and if we could somehow manage a trade up to get everyone then manziel would be my QB pick.

i like your enthusiasm and your ohio love (bucks) but when all things fail JF can you or will you stand up and say "MY BAD, JF sucks like time tebow sucks."

    just asking.

it'll be a shit show coming your way big time for the rest of your time on this board. just ask the guy from cali who said brady quinn was the next brett favre. he barely shows his face round these parts anymore.

so YES we will claim YOU as the first to say JF will be a hall of famer.

  • Haha I liked the Quinn pick and I admitted it (albeit on a different board). Did we really have a choice at that point though? I didnt want him at the top of the draft like a lot of people did and I was upset we passed on Peterson but was still happy with Thomas. I expect Farmer to have a good grasp on whether or not Manziel, or whoever they want to fall to where we dont have to use one of the premium picks on em, but I also firmly expect them to do what it takes to get their favorite guy. My favorite guy is Manziel, and I dont think he gets past Minnesota. If they get a hint he will, id love a scenario where we trade back up into the teens to land him. I also dont know where Hoyer stands and I think the QB position may be an emergency because we have the roster to win now with good QB play so id be willing to reach a bit for one, knowing if you dont, someone else will.

i hear ya. i feel the same way about 'MY' guys. i'll eat shit for a week when people call me out when the payers i like fail i.e. blackmon, claiborne etc. etc.

btw, disregard my nasty comment on another thread. just underlining the fact that manziel could be a really dicey bet. don't hate him though.

  • Haha no worries. Most QBs are dicey bets unless its one of those few and far between sure things. Id love to have the confidence in Hoyer or one of those later round guys but I dont. The risk is huge, but the payoff is priceless. If were gonna go down, lets go down swingin the big guns.

  • I would rather super glue my dick to my stomach than watch Weeden throw another pass in an orange helmet again.

  • weeden lays down the runway before he jerks off.

the runway is a line of bath tissue running up the pit of your stomach to catch the 'little ones' before they are hatched into howdy doody clones.

roll it up and toss them in the toilet.

    flush away all the guilt.

    Sorry, sorry... back to Manziel.

I mean, I've watched every single game he played in. I think he makes some really bad decisions, and some really great ones. It's worrisome a bit, but he seems coachable.

There's also the mechanics issue people have talked about.

I did some digging and found some evidence to what they're talking about, I think....

    Manziel+kid.jpg

That might not be Manziel at all, it could be "Smalls" from The Sandlot. I have people seeking confirmation right now.

i wanna know who the asshole is that has a copyright to do bad photoshop sayings with real-life pics attached.

god knows there's a market for stoopid any-topic pic.

my post got deleted for saying i wanted big tits in my face BUT all this shit is fine.

what i did see AGAIN is evans making every catch the fidget threw at him. over the top. low and in the dirt. out of bounds.

evans would be #1 pick but we're reaching at that point. i think it's going to be mack. some want watkins and i won't cry BUT i think evans is the biggest stud at his position just because of his size and ability to block defenders out.

shit, i'd look good throwing that dude the ball.

  • Manziel's starting to come around on me... I'd use a 3rd rounder on him now...
