Before the Purge Begins With Everyone On This Board.....

Gentleman,
I've heard all the back and fourth since pretty much October 3, 2013. What you all do with the top 3 picks the Browns have? I'm talking 4th,26th, and 35th. Can be anyone you want, the idea is to start a conversation with a group of passionate fans. No more no less. It's a foregone conclusion that not all of us will agree but I'd rather a sensible conversation than all the non sense that goes on. I'm sure we as grown men and women (if any apply)...can discuss this sensibly. I'll start....
4th Overall: Sammy Watkins WR Clemson
I'd say we'll get the most bang for our buck out of this pick. I know I know...a lot of experts say the same. I got to agree with them here though.
26th Overall: Teddy Twatwater QB Lousiville
Seeing as there's a good chance he might be the best choice at 26 (With Bortles, Manziel, and Carr potentially scooped up). I know the pro day was awful. Can't argue he looks good on film though. I'm also good with this because I expect him to sit behind Hoyer anyway.
35th Overall: Kyle Fuller CB Virginia Tech
I like how this kid plays. Good cover guy and a hitter too. Laid the boom against some top notch talent this season.
Well those are the three picks I'd like to see. What do you all have in mind for 4.26, and 35. I respectfully request we keep the convo within this context. No attacks no name calling just football. I know we can handle this and have fun with it too.
-
Id be down with that draft, but bridegwater may or may not fall to 26, I find that unlikely

I could live with that Marcus, though I'm not a big TB fan. I would prefer to go defense with number four. I want Pettine to have every weapon we can get him on D. Love K. Mack. Twenty six I would to trade up with. I would shit if we could get K Mack and Mosley. Makes our front seven potentially the absolute best in football in a couple years, potential to be one of best of all time. I love Fuller as well. I have a feeling he might go sooner than our second though. Would also love to get Lamarcus Joyner in the third. He is truely something special despite only being 5' 9"

That's some different input. I'd have to research Joyner. It'd be tough for me to go D with the 4th pick with Watkins on the board. Now if he's off at 4...I'd take a flyer on Mack.
-
4) Derek Carr - I'd take DC to learn behind Hoyer and groom him to be the future. If Hoyer flops or gets hurt again, the Carr era starts sooner rather than later. There are enough pieces around the offensive side of the ball that a rookie QB could be successful. The big knock on Carr is his ability to handle supposed pressure... which leads me to the second first rounder...
26a) If one of the top CBs falls to 26 I'm taking him to pair with Haden and move Skrine inside the nickel. I'm talking Gilbert or Dennard maybe Pryor.
26b) X. Su'a-Filo(or the best OL available) Adding to the line would greatly improve the offense. The Browns are so close to having an elite line it just needs a standout OG or OT. OG could start inside. An OT could force Schwartz inside and fortify the right side.
35) Depending what was done at 26 affects what I do here. I guess plan A would mean going with the best OG available, such as Yankey. If he's gone then I'm going WR and taking Benjamin if he falls, if he's gone I guess you go with Davonte Adams, he's got good hands and has nice speed as well, he'd be a great #2 opposite Gordon. If plan B ends up being the route we take I'm going with Stanley Jean-Baptiste and putting him opposite Haden, then with my next pick I may be targeting Landry in the third, he's got great hands as well, he's not quite the prospect that Adams is but it's equivalent to the drop off from Watkins to Evans in regards to Adams to Landry.
So it's either:
A) Carr/Su'a-Filo/Jean-Baptiste/Landry
Carr/(Dennard/Gilbert/Pryor)/YankeyC) Carr/Su'a-Filo/Adams
My personal favorite and most far fetched would be to trade a boatload of picks from the 2nd-7th this year and maybe some pick from next year as well to move up to the 3rd pick. Then I would do this:
#3) Jake Matthews - he'd go immediately to the RT and also be backup LT for JT. When JT retires we have his replacement already. Plus, this moves Schwartz inside to the RG spot.
#4) Derek Carr - He becomes the most protected QB in the league and surgically rips apart opposing defenses with Peyton Manning/Tom Brady time back there.
26) Xavier Su'a-Filo - We've added to the right side and solidified it for the future now we fix the LG spot and march out the most insane OL ever.
From Left to Right- Joe Thomas, Xavier Su'a-Filo, Alex Mack, Mitchell Schwartz, Jake Matthews! That's fucking crazy right there.

Derek Carr at 4 haha. Holy fuck.

Trust me you will like what you see. Kid plays like a raging hamster under a combo of roid rage and rabies. He has no fear and some good ball skills. Only thing I'm worried about is a guy like Megatron or a beastly tight end/rb laying the wood on him when he comes up to make a hit and altering his physical mentality.

That does sound pretty good, and although it's not the flashiest pick at 4 I could live with it. Now what I couldn't live with is freakin Carr at 4, I think maybe you and MKC are the only two people in Ohio that would like to see that.. which says a lot.
We're in a spot where we can really do no wrong at four I'd be happy with pretty much all the options. I'm iffy about Manziel but it'd be exciting and a swing for the fences move.
Ideally I'd want Watkins but I doubt he'll last until our pick.

4. Bortles, QB
26. Shazier, ILB
35. Fuller/Verrett, CB
To go further
3a. Bitonio, OT
3b. Moncrief, WR
From here on, I grab these players if available
4a. Charles Simms, RB
4b. Dakota Dozier, G
5. Dontae Johnson, FS
Not sure after this. Maybe Keith Wenning...BPA
Then pick up Brandon Thomas, G in free agency
-
Now if I had my way...trade down with the Vikings or Lions
1a. Justin Gilbert, CB
1b. Ryan Shazier, ILB
2a. Carr/Garoppolo, QB
2b. Allen Robinson, WR
3a. Joel Bitonion, OT
3b. Christian Jones, ILB
4a. Charles Simms, RB
4b. Dakota Dozier, G
5. Dontae Johnson, FS
6-7. BPA
FA. Brandon Thomas, G

4. Johnny Manziel, QB, Ball-So-Hard University
26. Stephon Tuitt, 3-4 DE, Notre Dame
35. Allen Robinson, WR, Penn State
Tuitt is a different name. Don't know much about him though...enlighten me. Don't get me wrong if we bring in Johnny I'd be ok with that but I'd prefer Watkins if available. A lot of people like the Robinson kid. Seeing as I live in the south I don't get to see much of Penn State these days....well that was after the big scandal of course and the SEC became God's gift to football (sarcasm heavy).

robinson falls squarely in the middle of the pack of the WRs that will go in the first-early second round this year IMO.
i've liked what i've seen of him doing the tv circuit and at the combine. he just lacks something for me and i don't know what it is. explosiveness? YAC?
don't get me wrong i wouldn't be upset with the pick. he comes off as a classy, humble guy BUT it's almost like he's too humble. like no fire there.
4. carr QB - fresno state the way this guy is moving up, the pressure to pull the trigger on a QB and the fact that rumors have him linked to cleveland.........don't know if they'll take the chance that he lasts until 26.
26. beckham jr. WR - lsu here @26 we get our #2 receiver. hopefully he's there.
35 mosley LB - wisconsin a lot of people have him projected going higher and i'd much rather use the pick on CB but if mosley is there pettine will be drooling.
lot of if and or buts and if given a choice i'd rather trade down and do things differently but that was the question before me, so.................

Wouldn't be a bad draft to be honest. Beckham is a hot commodity too not sure he'd last till 26. Mosely is another popular player. Wouldn't complain on May 8th. Feel free to talk about your trade down scenario as we've seen that's not unheard of either.

I'm huge fan of the Mosley pick. If he falls to 35 he'd be the best pick for us of the top three. Could you imagine getting him and Shazier? I know thats out there...but having Dansby/Mosley/Shazier would be a nasty middle.
I'm with ya on Allen Robinson. I'm trusting the WR rankings on this one, but I'm not overly excited about him. Odell gets my vote over him all day. To be honest, I like Donte Moncrief over Robinson as well. He has the, better speed, and good hands. His biggest knock is that he's not known to be great in winning the jump ball...but if that's his major knock, I think he'd be a huge pickup in the 3rd. Heck, Gordon isn't outstanding with the jump ball and he sure produced.

but besides QB (not that we HAVE to take one) the 2 biggest needs we SHOULD address (and i've been screaming this for 4 years now) is adding a #2 WR and a #2 CB and 2 of the best at those positions will be taken i say by the time draft day rolls around is evans at around 8 and gilbert at around 11.
Evans and Gilbert are my top 2 guys as well, though I haven't figure out how we could rationally pull that off.I do see Gilbertrange from the first to the third CB off the board. The only feasible way would be for him to fall to the 15-20 range somehow. Choosing between the 2, I take Evans and grab a top 5 CB if possible.

i don't know if you could rationalize (if we stay @4) taking evans with the first pick considering that watkins is the consensus #1 WR in this draft. it all comes down to what player is a better fit in cleveland. watkins and evans are completely different players. watkins can take a screen and turn it into a 50 yard dash to the endzone. evans is more physical and would win the battle for the ball over almost anyone on the field.
i mean look how good he made JF look.
hehehehehehe
i wouldn't be mad at any pick @4 considering the talent up there. i think if we could parlay 2 picks in the first to 3 we could hit on WR, CB and QB (unless pettine is screaming LB at that point).
