My last Browns' mock (with trades)
-
New here but been a huge browns fan myself, worked for them for about 2 years and then with the turmoil the past few years I made a move to FL for sunshine and beautiful weather. I am a huge Virginia Tech fan so call me biased but Kyle Fuller would be a huge get for the Browns. He is a beast, can tackle well has fluid hips and has some good ball skills. Pair him up with Haden and the "No Fly Zone" will be in full effect.
GO browns!

Mettenberger? Another Derek Anderson?
NO. No to everybody after that. Wasting those later picks on
guys who are dopers, and/or bad characters off the field maybe,
The rb has off the field and drug concerns, the TE is a JUNKIE ? good grief.
no. Farmer has higher standards.
The FS will surely go higher - he'd be a huge steal there. Only Savage
would pick your TE and RB
The first three picks are fine, except then you don't get your qb.
There's the problem, and this year's draft is convoluted and impossible to figure to start with.
But trading up to the the completely wrong qb is ridiculous. It would be light years
ahead to wait to see if Savage or Brett Smith was there in the third.

Well, he isn't mobile much. And I've seen him take a too long to make decisions,
and he has made some bad ones where you go "what the hell was he thinking?",
with some throws.
He has two outstanding wr's, and a huge, solid oline, and rb and...
He just reminds me of Derek Anderson, and that ticks me off, that's all.

A poor man's Derek Carr. which is not a good thing, considering a rich man's Derek Carr is about Brandon Weeden.
I think a lot of people around Cleveland have been put off the big, cannon armed, slow footed, slow minded QBs thanks to Weeden and Anderson.

Scouts said the exact same thing about Tom Brady : "isn't mobile enough to avoid the pass rush, isn't quick enough on his decisions blablabla..." Now of course I'm not saying he is the new Brady but this is just highly overrated. I mean look at Nick Foles, Big Ben... They are mobile in the pocket. They won't make an RGIII type of run but they are athletic and smart enough to avoid big guys coming at them. This is something he will learn down the road. But he is absolutly mobile in the pocket.
What is important to me is his throws, his plays againts good defenses (Alabama for example), his decisions under pressure...
Of course he is not perfect. But the tools are here. This is undeniable. Films don't lie.

Here's a top three picks draft for the Browns that I think is creative:
Mathews, OT,
then a trade up with Miami, to get...Manziel !
But I'd pass on the wr they pick. I mean, I'd take Allen Robinson, if he's still there,
in a NY second. Wouldn't THAT be crazy !

Not a great draft (I can't stand Carr) but an interesting prospect - we have an awful lot of roster members that can be classified as 'contributors' but are missing top players; how much can we move up if we bundle up all of our lower round pick? Can we get three first round players? Should we?

No corner and linebacker ?! I mean if we somehow find a way to have 3 first round picks, we have to strengthen those positions in priority.

"not a great draft" - I'm not saying we should draft the guys he's talking about. I hate carr and don't fancy Hyde much. I could live with Evans and Matthews, but the point is, with three first round picks and a third, we could pick up a WR, OL, CB and ILB, and basically be set with at least competent starters at every position.

I absolutly agree. I would love to have those picks. I would have to make another mock ! But still i dont like the players he wants to select with these picks.

I'm beginning to wonder if we won't trade some of next year's picks for picks in this draft. Not like for like, perhaps, but next year's 3 with another 3 from this year for someone's 2, something like that.

depends on if we trade down or not, i believe. i think there might be AT LEAST 2 teams making moves ahead of us, that might fuck up our opportunities to do so.
so much depends on whether or not the FO of the browns are sold on one of these QBs so much so, that they pick them @4. then the plan would be pretty clear cut in my eyes. CB/LB/OL/WR. in any order. have to find starters at those positions.
i mean the only reason to NOT want to trade down is if 'your' guy is still on the board. i think they are really hoping that mack falls, but i also believe that they would have no problem on pulling the trigger on bortles, manziel or carr (it's a reach i know but there is sooo much info tying him to cleveland).
if they do trade down then 2 of the top 4 QBs will be gone. watkins and evans will most likely be gone. it'll prob put us in the area of the 2nd best CBs and LBs available and hopefully give us the ammo to move back up into the first and get a couple of another top prospect. if we were to walk away with 3 out of the 5 positions of need taken care of with blue chip players (no matter what position) i'd be happy. as long as we're not talking giving away next year's 1-2 round picks i'm ok with it.
but i'm also ok with staying pat. either way i believe these guys know what they're doing.

Any mock showing trades or having Mettenburger drafted in the early second isn't worth reading.
