Which WR Are We Waiting For?

The Browns Board

  • My guess is that they are sticking to their board, and on top of that, maybe they do know something we don't about the druggo. If they truly have several WRs rated high on their board that they feel 99% confident will be there in rounds 4-7, then they are building the team by their board and not a knee jerk need.

I admit, I too am surprised that we didn't take 1 WR today, but I have to believe these guys know more about their plan than all of us do put together.

  • We are past any impact receivers for next year.

The footballs will be thrown to Burleson, Benjamin, Watkins and, I guess, Greg Little.

Cameron, Dray, Tate, Lewis .... I guess we will be spreading it around.

Benjamin the only rea home run threat now.

Had to tweak your assessment a bit.

  • I believe they know some late picks that can play...

and I think they have made investigations into cap casualities,

and perhaps a tentative trade for a wr depending on

if that team got their wr in the draft or not.

Who knows, outside of Farmer and Pettine and co.

Smart. Brilliant, even. These guys rock !

  • Abbrederis (concussion history)

    Janis

    Neutz

  • Personally I like Bryant, but I don't think we'll get him without a fourth rounder. At this point who even knows what they're doing. If this Gordon news didn't happen, then I'd actually really like this draft. It's been a solid one for us.

  • One of three things is happening.

Best case scenario - they know Gordon won't be gone for the entire year or it was a false positive. Something like that and he'll win his appeal.

Middle scenario - they trust the guys we have and/or have their eye on someone they think can be really good.

Worst case scenario - they trust the guys we have, but they're dead wrong and are screwing the shit out of the team.

  • we have like 8 recievers. ESPN has an updated roster. Maybe they are okay with our WR's

  • Martavis Bryant

    6'3", 211lb, 4.42 40

    Jared Abbrederis

    6'1", 195lb, 4.50 40

    Matt Hazel

    6'1", 195lb, 4.50 40

    Jeff Janis

    6,3", 219lb, 4.42 40

    Shaq Evans

    6'1", 213lb, 4.51 40

    Tevin Reese

    5'10", 163lb, 4.46 40

    Kevin Norwood

    6'2", 198lb, 4.48 40

These are some of the WRs left (correct me if one was taken). No stats, just specs. I believe of these and the few I left out (Gallon...I'm tired lol), there are 2 receiver steals in here. Sort through and send feedback. Need guys to root for tomorrow.

  • Honestly do you guys think Haslem would let Gordon go on sportscenter this morning/afternoon knowing he was facing a year suspension?

    I don't. That's just bad business.

  • I have seen all of Evans' games and wouldn't mind him in the proper round.

  • Brandom coleman 6'6 225

    Big strong receiver
Great measureables but has inconsistant hands.
    Projected 3-4
With his physical measurements and assuming he improves his game he could be a very good receiver for us at 4
not as athletic as his size would indicate

    Jared Abbrederis 6'1 195
Average size and mediocre to below average athletic ability
    Excellent Intelligence and Football IQ
Great Hands and the best route runner of the draft
    projected 4-5

    Jeff Janis 6'3 219
    Good size

GREAT Athletic ability top performer in nearly all combine categories
8th fastest 40,6th most bench press,3rd on the cones,6th on shuttle,13th on vert jump and broad jump,
Lacks experience against top talent, plays conservatively
    projected 3-4

After looking at the prospects that are left this is most likely "homerun" players i could find.

Janis worries me alot. Athletically he's the obvious choice with alot of high potential. But what I'm reading and seeing he seems to lack heart and unless he can find it or it can be brought out we would just be wasting a pick on him. looks like a mental wall to me...if it can be be torn down by the coaches or the team leaders he could be our number 2 receiver pretty simple stuff.

Coleman has the attributes of a number 1 receiver but lacks the football skills and knowledge

Abbrederis has the brains and knowledge to play the position of number 2 wideout but his attributes say slot receiver of which we have many.

I think the safest pick for us would be Abbrederis

The highest risk highest reward would be janis

Coleman could develop into a monster....but there is just not much other than size going for him.

My pick in the 4th would be Abbrederis He could EASILY replace at least greg little...

But i would be happy with either of these 3 even if we had to move up a little to get them.

  • Unless a WR they have gradded rather high falls to them, I want to see them attempt to move that pick and grab up at least 1 more later round selection (no trading for next year however, as in Trade a 4th rounder for a 3rd in 2015). I know the compensation won't be alot, but maybe a team with alot of comp. picks would be will to part with a 6th to get a guy they are in love with, or at least multiple 7th rounds for this year and next.

  • We are bringing back the heavy run game not like the rest of the league with their passing nonsense.

We are going to see alot of play action passing this season. My only question is if any of our current WR are talented enough to catch the damb ball.

  • I'm thinking... based on the amount of $$ they gave him combined with the draft so far, Farmer might have seen Hawkins as our WR2 all along instead of seeing him as a slot guy like we all assumed. If that's the case, then not drafting one early makes tons of sense.

Problem is... now there's a chance Hawkins is forced into our #1 WR spot.

Leaving the Gordon situation to the side, this draft has been awesome IMHO. We got 3 immediate starters, at CB2, RG, ILB. We also got a much-needed QB, and a solid backup RB. Plus, an extra 1st next year... I still see us taking a WR, or even 2, but I also think there are some developmental guys left at LB and S that we could be targeting. Only 2 picks left, so I'm thinking WR and OLB.

Your #2 WR is a lot of cases in your slot guy. Honestly we can't speculate on anything now with our WR group. Burlson will be ready to play during the season, but will he stay healthy. Little is going to get his one and last chance, maybe the kicks him in the ass and he produces (I have a better chance of waking up with a dick sewn to my forhead). But we still have a lot of time to sign guys.

  • Its Jared Abberderis or Jeff Janis. #FlyingJ's

  • The Jared Abbrederis guy, he's the one that cooked Roby all game right? He's probably another one with the "Athleticism" that falls in the draft. What happened to our pick at the top of the fourth? did that get traded away for the Division 3 RB....?

  • yes

  • I really think Charles Johnson may be turning some heads.
