Thank you for sharing. Great read.
I think you will find that your new fan base in Tx understands this kind of frustration.
We appreciate you accommodating all of us.

i dont know why its so hard for some to acknowledge new fans. certain players have their own fanbase whats new. Yea if Johnny Football sucks (I personally highly doubt this will happen) they wont be fans for long but if he does well and wins and is with the team for 10 years I'm sure many of the new fans will have plenty of great memories and experiences they wont forget when he retires or changes teams late in his career and if that scenerio plays out im sure the majority of the new fans will keep rooting for the browns after manziel leaves. especially since after all they are gonna develop feelings (no Michael Sam) for other players on the team such as the recievers, line, defense ect as they are exposed to them watching Johnny's games. I'm sure these guys didn't just root for Johnny Football in college I'm sure they were fans of Matthews / Evans all the way down to the walk ons because it's a team game and for the QB to do good the team has to do good. It will be the same way here if Johnny Football is winning games these guys will grow to love the guys that are helping him win and want to support them too as well as develop a loyalty to the fans that they share the experience with. I highly doubt if Johnny Football is successful that the A&M fans (some of the best and most loyal fans out there) will simply abandon their fellow fans that they have met watching games, at bars, online, wherever. It's not like this is some guy coming out of the U or some other bandwagon school the reason these guys are so gung ho on JFF is because they are amongst the most loyal in CFF and I don't know why they wouldn't be great fans to have.

Touching read from a true Brown. Thanks for the story. Didn't know Fujita had any literary in him...

All I can say as a Mod, you guys are welcome- but just keep the enthusiasm real. We had one guy here when Derek Anderson was quarterbacking (fellow Oregon State alum) defending every bad pass & lousy game he had with deft excuses as to why he didn't totally suck. That's not something I want to see repeated. We're going to have to give one of his major fanboys a kiddie timeout for being so over the top a bunch of the other posters can't stand his obnoxious behavior. I mean- the guy's got talent, but please don't put him in the Pro HOF before he's even taken a regular season snap.

Good read. Lets jump agree to disagree on what ever players. This does seem like its going to be a fun year as a Browns fan though. Do not buy into the media hype on Manziel and what he has done or on Haslam and if he made the Browns draft him. At the end of the Day, we drafted 6 very talented players for once this year. Probably one of the best drafts we have had in awhile. I mean, for once I didnt go wtf is going on here. We addresed extreme needs and upgraded the talent on the roster. Please just enjoy what we have going on right now and not what coulda should been. I hope you all have a kick ass weekend. Go Browns!

I lived in San Diego for 4 years and saw true fair weather fans. Chargers fans may be the worst fair weather fans I know. Welcome, all the new fans... for the sake of a loyal fan base, call yourself what you are. If you're a Browns fan, then let it be. If you're a Johnny fan who roots for the Browns, then identify as such and let it be. Understand that a Browns fan doesn't change football teams when thing suck...and I don't mean suck as in a few years in a row, but suck as in nearly every season.

If JFF feels welcomed here you will not find a more loyal player. Texas A&M is the real home of the 12th man, not those Seattle posers that have to pay our school to rent that trademark. The Dogpound is well known to us, even down in Texas and it is certainly more fanatical that any pro football group out there. Where we come from we call that "Good Bull".
To say we are not yet Browns fans is fair enough. But you can bet we will do whatever small part we can to make our player succeed, And to do that his team has to succeed.
That is the reason I put some info on OL Cedric Ogbuehi up on the this board, to call attention early to a very real possibility of another player with a lot of experience blocking for the Browns' recent addition from A&M. And with it the new SI listing of the top players for next year which has him listed as #1.
I really don't care if you don't call me a Browns fan. But don't ever call me your enemy, because that part isn't true.
Thanks for the introductory information on the Browns. We do share this in common from the article above: "But what do they always say in Cleveland? Just wait βtil next year."
That is an old Aggie saying I was introduced to my freshman year at A&M. So it's also decades old for us too. Johnny Fucking Football cured that in two short seasons.

Thanks to the OP for the thread. Scotty F is one of my fav recent Browns. I still say had he not been injured in the Jet game...

No one has and no one will ask you to apologize.
Don't ask us to apologize for not being giddy, lil' schoolgirls.
Fair enough?

Navy guy? My daughter was stationed there for 3 and said the weather was always fair. My three, week-long visits failed to produce any evidence to the contrary.
Also failed to produce any evidence that the "green flash" is a real thing...

You've got a good way of looking all this and I agree that you're not the enemy. I don't think I've said it thus far, and don't plan to. I have some secondary teams I root for, mainly because of individual players (fantasy football had a lot to do with it lol), and and I make it known if asked that I'm just here for one guy, the team just gets my support by association. I think the best thing for the Browns would be for Johnny to play his career here. I would imagine some of the true football fans that followed him here would slowly turn into loyal life-long Browns fans. That's a win-win situation. Either way, hope you enjoy the ride.If JFF feels welcomed here you will not find a more loyal player. 1. I wondered about Seattle's use of the "12th man"... now I know.
2. Your opening sentence is more than tad disconcerting...
3. I, for one, have enjoyed your posts so far.

USMC. The weather was great. May have rained less than 15 times in 4 years and shorts could be worn with a ling sleeve shirt most of the winter. I was out there 06'-10' and we had fires once, like they have going now. Lots of our guys had to evacuate there home and could see the fire in the distance, from base. We had the privilege of running fire buckets, dropping water from our helicopters. Was pretty wild. Overall, AWESOME place.Navy guy? Gotta admit, it's pretty annoying for people to call themselves Browns just because we drafted JM. I welcome them here but don't call yourself a Browns fan if all you care about is JM.
I'm sure if the JFF gig doesn't quite pan out that some of these new fans will leave, but as mentioned by others, some will get attached to Players/Coaches/Identity/etc. and will stay on board.
Maybe some of these new folks have just followed College FB and really didn't have an NFL Team . . . now maybe they do (or will).
I mean, we all had to start somewhere.
-
My hope is that JFF stays with Cleveland for his entire career, so these new fans have no reason to leave and have every reason to stay Browns
