Political Discussion

  • If anything it falls under the 4th Amendment(unreasonable search\seizures), while the therapist did the right thing and called the cops to check, the cops followed up but didn't think he met the criteria to search his house.

So the 2nd amendment is disposable but not the 4th? I thought saving lives was the prime directive?

Have I ever said I wanted to dispose of the 2nd? The only sort of regulation of firearms I would want to see would be a license(kind of like a drivers license) that would show the purchaser at least knows how to safely handle and store a firearm.

You have not. It was a rhetorical question.

  • Yes hollywood hates it and the gun lobby hates it so let's scapegoat the pharmaceutical industry

Not sure the industry is the one to blame.

We live in a society that shuns life-saving vaccinations, yet slings ADHD meds to 2 year olds like they're vitamins.

But yes he was treated for Aspergers, his family attorney confirmed it. Nobody is asking for a witch hunt. But the available data should be used and should inhibit his ability to own a gun.

Because now where are we? Va Tech, columbine, sandy hook, aurora, Ft Hood, DC navy yard - now this, all shooters with documented mental health issues. Correlation doesn't imply causation but let's use some common sense.

If not mental health, how about a previous history of violence?

  • And if anyone is keeping score:

    3 Knife fatalities.

    3 Gun fatalities.

8 Wounded with a gun (fired from vehicle)

    4 Wounded with vehicle

Severe??? Like life in prison, or execution??

If only that worked on murderers, rapists, etc..

Yes that severe. I'm sure he knew I was being a bit facetious but there's always something we can restrict that would probably save some lives. I would imagine Sharia law would cut down on at least some crime?

And it doesn't matter with most crimes because of the simple fact that 85% of violent crime is committed by repeat offenders. If I recall correctly.

I was pointing out that these punishments aren't a deterrent for that criminal segment of the population already. Meaning, there will still be some who will ignore the punishments and commit the crimes (regardless of what they are).

Enforce existing laws. Life sentence means Life. Get rid of "death row"

And Sharia law? really? Did I hit my head on something and miss the Middle East becoming a bastion of tranquility and peace?

  • The ease with which this "known autistic" kid that had been "in therapy his whole life" was able to legally purchase firearms has to alarm you. If you don't have an ulterior agenda that is.

How is this different than what you said?

  • It's not. We agree on a segment of the issue. That isn't to say I think the law should over reach and impact my ability to protect myself and my family.

  • Exactly.

Australia found out. Making law abiding people pay $$$$ for having guns, and restricting

    gun ownership hugely...

criminals and crazy people still murder, commit crimes. I still think it's politically corrupt thought

    that drives the anti-gunners.

Surely they aren't so stupid they can't see that criminals don't obey the law, so....

what is it? It's political expediency via a phony emotional issue.

You anti-gunners don't make any sense - going after law abiding citizens who have guns,

"because criminals and crazy people commit crimes"....

Truth is, I think most anti-gun sentiment is secret wishes by huge gov services and control funds.

By "mmgw" taxes. And gun fees and fines. And EPA watershed laws and rules and exec orders to

    control ...again, almost anything.

And forcing the sale of health care, including making millions LOSE their healthcare. More fines and fees.

    And control.

Even to the point of Moochelle Obamao advising kids to inform on their parents and families

for any "perceived" politically incorrect verbage, perceived racial statements.

    Say, that sounds eeriely familiar...

  • You anti-gunners don't make any sense - going after law abiding citizens who have guns,

Didn't this guy run people over with his Beemer too, or at least try ? Maybe we should ban cars for all the law abiding drivers too

  • Oh god... The "maybe we should ban cars" argument for the millionth time....

  • Mental health, misogyny, spoiled/entitlement,gender placement in society. These are the issues. not the gun/knife

The cars=guns argument is a very popular deflection around here no matter how ridiculous it is. Congratulations. Now you=bunker

And like I said before are you willing to pay more taxes for a mental health overhaul? You know that would mean changing the standard for gun ownership don't you?

  • You guys call anyone that advocates a better standard for gun ownership "anti gunners" because that makes us more threatening to you and therefore an enemy. Perhaps an enemy to be gunned down, no? Since all we want is to take all your guns and rights away after all. Murica.

No. I prefer my threads murky and non-informative.

So why else call us "anti gunners". Why make it us vs them? That's a sure way to never reach a compromise.

Implying that one side is making it an us vs. them and implying that they would want to gun down the other is just straight up trolling.

As for the anti gunner label, I find it unproductive to a discussion. Not nearly as unproductive as calling gun owners weak and pathetic, but pretty unproductive.
