I dont have an issue with putting a team in London. I get it, they want to go global much like the way soccer owns the world. There is alot more money to be gained globally. Now putting a Super Bowl in London i would be opposed.

Why does it have to be about all the money you can get. Its not like they are the Little sisters of the poor. What about the quality of the products.....and what about patriotism. What about providing for an economy here in cities that could benefit from Expansion of the NFL. If they want more money, then they will have to divide the pie between more players, more owners. Like I said, not unless they agree to expand to 36 teams.

If they just wanted to move teams to bigger markets, then there would be a wholesale shift of teams. Move the Bills #52 US Market to Toronto. Move the Saints #51 market to Mexico. Move the Jags #48 market to London. Move Cincinnati #35 Market to Paris. Move the Chiefs #31 market to Japan. Move the Titans #29 market to what? South Korea, China

    Fuck off with all that.

Does Goodell even realize fans of current teams aren't exactly thrilled when their respective teams get drafted for that London game? Someone is losing a home game every year. If the Browns get tabbed, you can bet I'm going to ask for a one game refund on my season tickets. If you offer me row 20 on the 50 at Wembley, I might be interested, but fat chance of that happening.

An NFL team in London would suck, no doubt about it.

I don't think you would have to ask for a refund. I would be shocked if season ticket holders are charged for that game.

At any rate, a team in London is a joke. I understand the city and Brits could probably support the team, but the logistics are simply too great. You are talking a 8 hour flight out of Atlanta....say 7 out of NY or Boston.

Teams would really need to go over 3-4 days early, not to mention the London team when they come over here. It's might not be a stupid idea, but at minimum not very practical.

Maybe the NFL needs to be in the forefront of bringing back the Supersonic Transport Jets. They could have a tie in there with the team in NYC. At 1350 MPH and a 2-3 hour flight, then it would be more practical to have a team in London.

Or, how about developing the Vacuum Train that could go 3000 Mph or more?

  • If you like to see the NFL become soccer, you are not a football fan. The NFL belongs in the States, and only the States.

They are huge Cowboy fans. Dallas played the Oilers years ago in Mexico during preseason and sold 108,000 tickets.

    hmmmm. wonder why?

  • no. you were just stating the obvious considering half of mexico is going to end up in dallas anyway...........

"send in the national guard!" lol.

Their desire to go global is all about additional revenue generation. I don't see how relocating a current team to London will result in a significant increase in revenue. Certainly not an increase worth all the debate. If the NFL truly wants to become a global game they need to go all in. They need to form a full division in Europe with a minimum of 6 teams. Playing each other gives them 10 games and then the remaining 6 split between the US and Europe. Although much like prior expansion teams the talent would be watered down over time it would improve. This would generate significant revenue and make the league more global.

  • It seems like some on here are trying to make giant issues out of relatively minor ones. As much as some want to pound their chest and shout "'Murica" I think it makes business sense to get your product out there. Especially if the demand is high, which it is

Add 4 hours to that 'Peen, from the West Coast- that's Nucking Futz. A London team would be going across 8, maybe 9 Time Zones on the way back- talk about jet lag. I can hear the howling from the NFLPA already.

I wouldnt move an existing team. There would have to be expansion. I agree, but you know there is only one thing rich guys want. Just a little more money. They notice when Forbes posts the top wealthiest teams in the world and the top 3 are soccer teams. Coca-Cola, McDonalds, ect they are everywhere. You can go to the smallest, poorest town in Africa and find them. Smart business men are always a step ahead. It is going to happen, just a matter of time. I think it would be pretty cool to see the world embrace what i think is the best game in the world.

It's never going to happen in anyone that's currently alive lifetimes if you think American Football is going to overtake soccer as the #1 worldwide sport. For exactly the reason you mentioned. You think teams like Real Madrid and Manchester United are going to let the NFL invade their turf? Politics, pal.

That's the only scenario that would make 1\2 sense. The European League didn't last, if you're listening Roger.

'they' were here before i was.

why don't we just claim mexico as an incorporated territory of the US? that way the americans who want to move to cabo san lucas can get in their uhaul and go and those from tijuana who want to move to n. platte, NE can do so w/o passports etc. take over their gov't and military, more jobs for both and no more corruption.

    HA!

The NFL Europe failed some years back. Didn't they figure it out?

Or, maybe they are thinking "well, the NASL failed" and now soccer has come back with the MSL, maybe our failure there once can be turned around with a new league.

But yea, it would have to be a whole new league.

Sorry, the greed is palpable in this notion.

Then put your product in LA, San Antonio, Portland, Salt Lake. I guarandamntee you that the demand for NFL football is higher in those locations than it is in London, Manchester and Paris.

It is a damn sight higher in Birmingham Alabama than it is in Birmingham England.

...and would make the NFL more money probably.

Don't you know that older member on this forum know everything about life and the younger guys can't possibly understand how the world works?

  • how does it makes sense biz wise?

    someone explain that to me.

a team in london makes sense.

    GTFO.

  • Makes absolutely no sense. But the soccer boys think it does.

  • It would have to be much more lucrative in London than in LA for it make sense logistically, and I just don't see it. But what do I know, I'm not Roger get paid millions to do nothing Goodell
