                Answers

                1. A. Before there were the Detroit Lions there were Lions that played in the NFL in another city. Where?

Brooklyn Lions played in the 20s

                B. Before there were the Houston Texans there were Texans that played in the NFL in another city.

                Where?

Dallas....two different ones. The Dallas Texans of the early 50s that played like one year before folding, and the Dallas Texans of the AFL that became the Kansas City Chiefs.

                C. Before there were the Carolina Panthers there were Panthers that played in the NFL in another city.

                Where?

Detroit Panthers, played in the 20s. (USFL Michigan Panthers got their name from here)

                D. Before there were the Tennessee Titans there were Titans that played in another city.

                Where?

New York. Nearly all of you know that the Jets were first known as the Titans.

                E. Before there were Cowboys in Dallas, there were Cowboys that played in the NFL in another city.

                Where?

Kansas City Cowboys in the 20s.

                F. Before there were Buccaneers in Tampa Bay, there were Buccaneers that played in the NFL in another City. Where?

Los Angeles Buccaneers, played in the 20s.

                2. Name this person: African-American, All American at Rutgers, played in the NFL with the Akron Pros and Milwaukee Badgers. Earned a law degree at Columbia. Was Phi Beta Kappa. Acted on stage in both London and New York. Appeared in Showboat and Othello both on stage an on screen. Fought against the fascists in the Spanish Civil War. Paul Robeson

                3. What does this partial list of active players represent:

Geno Atkins, Jon Bostic, Ahmad Brooks, Max Starks, Jairus Byrd, Antoine Cason, Britton Colquitt, Chase Coffman, Braylon Edwards, Najee Goode, Matt Hasselback, Cameron Heyward, Henry Hynoski, Mark Ingram, Cameron Jordan, Matt Kalil, Andrew Luck, Chris Long, Eli Manning.

All of these players had fathers that also played in the NFL. As noted, this is just a partial list from the first half of the alphabet. There are as many as 40-50 NFL players whose dads played in the league.

                4. What momentus event in football history occurred on October 22, 1939?

That was the date of the first television broadcast of an NFL game. The beginning of one of the most remarkable business marriages in history.

Charlie Joiner, Ray Nitschke, Roger Staubach, Rocky Bleier, Gary Larsen, Les Steckel, Joe Bellino, Joe Don Looney.

These, plus others, all served in the military during the Vietnam War. I don't think that all of them went to Vietnam, but they all did serve.

                6. What is the record for the longest drop kick FG in NFL history?

50 yards, by Paddy Driscoll on Oct. 11, 1925. The FYI, the dropkick is still a legal maneuver in the game today.

                7. Name the only QB who is on the list of the All time Top 20 in yards thrown for who is left handed.

                Boomer Esiason

                The 2003 New England Patriots

Johnny Unitas in SB 5, Rich Gannon in SB 37, Kurt Warner in SB 43, and Peyton Manning in SB 48.

And Elway himself was 37 when he started a SB.

(guys that were 36 when they started a SB: Jim Plunkett, Roger Staubach, Fran Tarkenton)

                10. Seven Running backs have 3 or more 80 or more yard runs from scrimmage in their careers. Name these 7 RBs.

Chris Johnson has 6 runs of 80 or more yards. That is double of anyone else. Jamal Charles, Adrian Peterson, Ahman Green, Barry Sanders, OJ Simpson and Hugh McElhenny have 3 each.
