What are you looking forward to Sat. Night vs lions

  • Looking forward to not having to rely on 'this guy looked really good in this specific drill in practice with no DL and pass rush' and stuff like that for entertainment. Real life football, even though it's pre-season, real tackles flying in.

In terms of the game itself, looking to see if our D can be as dominant as it's being hyped up to be - particularly our DL, there's a lot of talent there but last year it was fairly ineffective, particularly without bryant, and not much has changed personnel-wise. The secondary I'm not worried about, but how will Haden play against a fully fit megatron?. The LBers, see if they can generate a pass rush, see if they can not get beaten in coverage every time.

On O, see which WRs can step up. Is Austin back to his best, as seems to be the message in practice? Will Hawkins look as dazzling with the tackles flying in? Will one of Burleson/Armstrong make a case to be No2 WR, or will it be a rookie? Which rookie? Heard good things about Willie Snead. Charles Johnson (effectively a rookie) has the size and speed, but can he bring it all together in a game and be our surprise package?

Will our OL be able to open some lanes in the run game against a very strong DL from Detroit? We had a pretty dire running game last season, will Shanahan's new scheme improve that, or will it look pretty ineffective in the early stages having been stifled so much in practice? Will Tate and West get equal carries? Who of the other backs - Ogbonnaya, Baker, Lewis, Crowell - will get any snaps?

    Oh, and the QB play.

  • 1st preseason game basically a scrimmage. Just want to see JFF light it up.

  • Organization. Disciplined play.

    NO INJURIES.

Definitely. The opposite of the Bengals throwing a touchdown while we are still in the fucking huddle
  • I'm looking forward to actually going to the game and getting to watch my friend Thompson play for Detroit.

  • sage sausage, green tomato and sweet pepper "sloppy joe"....

    root beer....

and a dominant oline in both the passing and running game.

And both Hoyer and Manziel having fine nights.

And a secondary that makes other passing games suffer.

    For starters....

  • I''l be watching the trenches.

    2) I want to see the entire team just look organized.

Good one... How prepared we are all the way thru 3rd team will be interesting.

    ^My very first thought...

    On the QB competition...

Unless one of the two candidates really shits the bed (new forum catch phrase) I doubt we will be able to tell much from "watching" the game and little more watching a recording.

Reason is that except for full field replays you simply cannot evaluate a QB's reads... what, if anything, he missed even if he made a play elsewhere.

    Me too!

    Bitonio vs Suh.

  • #1, as always - I'd like to see an OL that is good....for once in my lifetime. Protect the QB and open holes.

Have a great time! How old are the kids?

  • Bernie Kosar drunkingly forcing his way into the announcer booth, kicking Wilcots out and mocking the Lions' 4th string players toughness and general looks.

  • I wanna see this zone blocking scheme in action. Wanna see some guards pulling and bush hog some would be tacklers.

Wanna see how the wideouts fare. Especially looking to see how some of the unknowns look. Willie Snead.

  • when you look up 'bush hog' on bing it spits out images of tractors and attachments...and of course smutty chicks spreading it.

can i get a whoo eyy?

  • Somewhere there's a pick up line in there.

Hey baby, wanna see a tractor attachment.

I got a magnet in my pants to a tractor attachment.

6 and 7 and they're already huge Browns fans...for better or worse...hopefully better!

  • And I forgot to mention...it'll be on mute, in honor of Bernie.

  • Coach Mike Pettine indicated that Manziel probably won't get any first-team reps in Saturday's preseason opener against the Lions, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Coach Mike Pettine indicated that Manziel probably won't get any first-team reps in Saturday's preseason opener against the Lions, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

    Analysis:

Pettine suggested Thursday that the team will probably have Brian Hoyer stick with the starters Saturday, with Manziel on track to work with the Browns' second unit. Beyond that, we expect Manziel to see first-team reps in the team's Aug. 18 exhibition game against the Redskins, with the Browns aiming to make a call on a Week 1 starter in advance of the their third preseason tilt.

  • Isaiah Crowell appears to be the first running back receiving carries in Browns camp following Ben Tate and Terrance West, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

    Aug 7 2014, 4:14 PMRotowire

Crowell appears to be the first running back receiving carries in Browns camp following Ben Tate and Terrance West, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

    Analysis:

Crowell will continue to compete with Edwin Baker, Dion Lewis and Chris Ogbonnaya in camp, but as it currently stands, the undrafted free agent appears to have the slight edge. The report suggests that Crowell seems to be the best runner out of the aforementioned options, but notes that each member of that group has their own particular asset they bring to the reserve mix. Even if Crowell holds off the competition to earn a roster spot, he'll still have a tough time earning regular touches behind Tate and West.
