Cavaliers have agreement to acquire Kevin Love

This must suck for Wiggins to be on hold for a month...I would've rather waited and got Love in FA.

I get what you're saying, but the spurs definitely won the Championship more than lbj lost it. They literally destroyed the heat. One guy couldn't have made up all that ground himself.
And at least they score in basketball. Yeah, Germany trashed Brazil in the semis but the vast majority of the time the score is 1-0 or even 0-0. It's just hard for me to watch guts pass the ball around for a couple hours. It's not particularly exciting to me.
I think a large part of that has to do with what you grew up on. To me, as a kid, soccer didn't even exist so I have no particular attraction to it now
I agree with you.
I grew up playing baseball in Cleveland, Ohio. My dad was a coach and a former minor league player.
Then we moved to North Olmsted, Ohio. And that city is a soccer nutz town. There was no baseball system there.
I played soccer when I moved there, and I played well into my high school years. My high school won the state title in soccer in 1986????? and it was AWESOME.
Not sure of the year......................It was the 80's afterall and I was in high school

BS dude, I was on the NO travel soccer and baseball team who won state. Although I was 10 when you were in high school.

Imo the NBA is immensely more entertaining than soccer. I don't hate soccer but it is a pretty unexciting game for me to watch.
I can't agree. the NBA is all about flash and me, me, me. There is VERY little us, and a whole lot of "look at me".
I know the Spurs win with a team first attitude. But most people don't even know who they are. Most people know Lechoke lost the finals more then the Spurs won it.
That is the problem with the NBA.
The only part of an NBA game that is exciting is in the last 2 minutes if the game is close. Otherwise it is boring

I'd meet you halfway with everything you're saying. the NBA is exciting IF you support one of the 4-5 teams that actually have a chance. The fun part about the MLB or NFL is that worst to first teams happen every year. That just isn't the case in the NBA for a good number of years. Right now (barring injuries of course), I'd put $1k down that the Finals of the NBA will between the Cavs/Bulls against the Spurs/OKC or MAYBE the clippers if the Sterling thing works out. No other team in the East even comes remotely close too.
So yeah, NBA is finally exciting in Cleveland again but if I was say a Sixers fan why the hell would you even tune in?

This is awesome, I was all in on Love.
The pressure is on the Browns this year to deliver the Holy Grail before the Cavs do.
Soccer ... still gay.

My money will be on the Cavs to bring home the Silver B-Ball first. Too bad they had to unload Wiggins to get Love, but fair trade off I guess. If they had managed to keep Wiggins, and get Love somehow, it would have been over, Grover.
Looking at this realistically- the Cavs now have a 5 year window to get it done- until Father Time starts catching up with LBJ- that will make him 35.
Cowturd's fill-in on ESPN did have a fair point- there was outrage in the NBA when Le Bron & Pals stacked the deck in Miami, not so know. Maybe NBA fans are immune to it. I guess I can look at it a little differently now that the deck is stacked in our favor.

love in cleveland does not automatically make the cavs as good as what the heat were.
i mean i don't see it. should have kept wiggins.

I'm perfectly happy to hang out with the gay community as long as we don't have to watch soccer.

If Love was in the middle of a longterm contract, I really would have zero problem with this trade. I'm still not technically upset by this trade, because I think it will bring us at least one championship, but I think it was unnecessary. Had we waited just one more year we could have had Kevin Love AND seen what Wiggins and Bennett are about. If Andrew Wiggins is half of what he is projected to be, we could have had a situation like if the bulls had drafted kobe while Mike was still playing. As sick as Kobe has been had he studied under Mike for a couple years...it's sick to think about. Wiggins studying under Lebron has multiple upsides. The obvious one already stated, the other major upside is Wiggins taking reps off of Lebron during the season within a couple years. The presence of Andrew Wiggins on this team, along with Kevin Love in a year....could potentially have allowed Lebron to play well into his 40's if he was so inclined. I honestly think retaining Wiggins would have made Cleveland a dynasty the likes of which the NBA has never seen.
Kevin Love may alleviate Lebrons workload a little bit....but not like Wiggins would have. In the coming years you could have seen Lebron actually sit out numerous games as Wiggins plays in his spot. We pick up another young point guard and we could have started to pace Kyrie in a couple years. If Bennett lived up to some of his potential we could be sitting Love too. As the team is now....most certainly 1-2 championships should come Clevelands way. But if Wiggins starts skying out in Mn the trade cost us not 1 not 2 not 3....you know the rest. I was frankly perfectly ok with pacing Lebron this coming season and making Wiggins carry some of the load so we see what he's about....than the following year we get Love and a talented bench that got thrown in the fire the previous year. Greg Popovich and the Spurs would not have made this trade before seeing Wiggins in an NBA game....knowing that Kevin Love will not sign a long term contract anywhere but with them. We would have insured a decade or more of relevance for Cleveland basketball. Oh well.

Couldn't have afforded him next offseason. I read the trade includes an agreement to resign after next year anyway.
-
I guess the more I think about it, I'm ok with the Love trade now.
Had we waited until the deadline, it would have cost us half a season of chemistry to build between the New Big 3. A trade was inevitable, might as well get it out of the way now (even though I'm really bummed we lost Wiggins).
Regarding the deal, we couldn't sign him in the offseason. At least not for max money like he wants. By trading for him now, we now have his bird rights which allows us to resign our own players while going over the salary cap and into the luxury tax. We couldn't have signed him outright without gutting our team of ~$22M first.
-
Wiggins is unproven in the NBA, Love is proven. He is young. Fuck the rebuild. We have the team NOW mother fucker!
-
The Spurs have maybe one more year with Duncan and a good Manu. After that, they wont be the same team. The only team that would stand in our way would be the Bulls.
