Yeah, he had like a 150 QBR.

I liked McCoy though, never thought he had the talent around him to fairly evaluate him though.

  • why they have to tinker and try to fix something that isn't broken has always been confusing to me whether it be football or anything else.

i mean mcdonalds had the best french fries and they had to fuckin change them cuz people's hearts were exploding? c'mon man.

My thoughts exactly. The changes they continue to make are for the worse

Why do mediocre QBs (especially ours) look so much better in preseason I wonder. Are the opposing defenses just not playing hard?

Yeah, they're playing against generic Defenses.

Teams don't want to show too much of what they're going to do during the regular Season, so they pretty much play a generic Defense - primarily to have a base line for evaluating players for cuts.

I can't tell if that's a subtle shot at the NFL for not doing more about concussions or a legit opinion but I laughed regardless.

Let's be honest, Couch probably deserves a hall of fame nod just for taking a beating most players in the 40's would've considered excessive.

  • They might as well let the recievers run with no defenders.... Flags every time

Name one that played after 1970?

It's a double edged sword. Fans want winners, fans want excitement, and to sell tickets these guys have taken more and more drugs. The collisions are huge and so are the lawsuits. It is not going to get any better and football they way it was played even in 1990 is not going to come back.

Many of the rules allow receivers to run less encumbered than before, which means more high speed crashes. Despite the hitting rules, guys will get hurt, and hurt badly... then more rules, more lawsuits will apply. If you think the game will ever get better, or return to a more recognizable form, you are kidding yourself.

    Possibly true.

  • Hate to admit it, but it's an extremely flawed game and way too subject to what a ref sees or doesn't see, and how they interpret that.

Every year you see a play where a holding penalty gets called, and one of the announcers makes some comment about how a holding penalty could be called on virtually every play.

There's just too much to keep track of and too much room for error.

And replay can't fix everything. You're still trying to see where a ball is within a mass of humanity, except it's a mass of humanity in slow motion.

The difference is,at least in this area, McDonalds' had the good sense to correct theirmistake & get rid of the flavorless oil. Fries are great again. Goodell doesn't seem like the type to admit he screwed up, so the owners just need to fire his ass.
