  • It's been released since as it's own full length novel under kings own name. But yeah it was in the Bachman books

  • Check out this list of the best selling books of all time.

There are a few in there that I do not believe have been made into movies like The Catcher in the Rye.

    Watership Down

Others that are best sellers are like self help books, not amenable to movie making.

Note though that some of the best selling books are also among the largest grossing movie franchises: specifically the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit and the Harry Potter books.

Personally, I never cared for the Catcher in the Rye.....and I assume that JD Salinger would never sell the movie rights. But now that he is gone, perhaps his estate will. I am not sure it is translatable to a movie, but I would be curious to see the effort.

  • Watership Down has been made into an animated film. I loved the book! A catcher in the rye is tied up with Salinger's heirs who will not even allow it to be made into an audiobook.

    unless something very recently changed.

I figured that might be the case with the Rabbit book.

And with Salinger's book, the estate will eventually be settled, the the thing that will change, with them is probably:::$$$$$$$.

  • "Lines in the sand" by Dick Draggin and "Wet Sheet" by I.P. Nighlty.

  • They should make a tv series of stephen kings short stories. Grey matter, word processor of the gods, the long walk, survivor type, some of those stories are freaking brilliant

I think you might be right. I can't imagine doing it without 90% voice over.

  • Malazan Book of the Fallen series, it would not work as a movie, but could really work in a GoT type of series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malazan_Book_of_the_Fallen

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, this would probably work as a trilogy since each story is connected but not to large extent as GoT or Malazan Book of the Fallen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chronicles_of_Thomas_Covenant

Wheel of time series may be the next series for me to check out...

  • My fiction novel would make a great movie.

It will be finished this winter, while I recuperate from getting

a new bionic knee...unless I put it off one more year...

  • I could only imagine the critical response cal. I don't know how the academy could ignore you

  • I expect rave reviews from my friends, let's put it that way..... 😎

  • AxeA Axe

    Wool... By Hugh Howey

I read a LOT.. Best read in a while... This one should absolutely be butchered by Hollywood.. 😁

Got this book yesterday from Amazon. Going to start reading it tomorrow. Insomnia is good for something.

  • The given day by Dennis lehane would be interesting

  • Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clarke.

  • One of my favorites is apparently going to be made into a movie: Agincourt by Bernard Cornwell. To be directed by Michael Mann:

Mann also directed "Last of the Mohicans" with Daniel Day Lewis, which is a favorite movie of mine. So hopefully this will go well, though Agincourt is still considered "Under Development".

unfortunately the entire Saxon Tales series is available only in abridged version on audible.

I don't understand that because each individual book is really not that long. Only 200-300 pages. I have read a couple of them over like 2 days. Unless the audio books are combining more than 1 written novel together is shouldn't be abridged. There is a new one coming out soon. (The Empty Throne I think it is called)

(Agincourt is not a part of the Saxon Tales series)

  • there are a few Saxon Tales in the series.

does Sharpe ring a bell? There are a few of those in full length. Is this one you speak of a stand alone book?
