And he is close by .........these huge contract issues usually dont get done overnight, what with all the lawyers and crap, so is it possible that they were working on this and the NFL dragged their feet on the JG ruling thinking this might get done before the season started?...

I think that's exactly what happened. May have been for theatrical purposes but it sounded like they were close.

So basically what we have is a hostage negotiation?

Possible ten-fold increase in the action level... more than I would have guessed, but it'll work.

Yeah, I'm pretty much guessing that the NFL waited as long as they did, and came down as hard as they did on Gordon, as leverage in these particular negotiations.

And if it weren't for how close these negotiations were, Gordon would have filed his lawsuit the same day.

If I were Gordon, I'd be supremely pissed at not just the NFL, but the NFLPA as well.
