I think there's little doubt that it was a combination of the Steelers believing they had the game won and that we were the same old Browns, and Pettine and Company convincing the team we were not.
I can't believe people were calling for manziel at half time. I thought we'd at least make it to week 3 before that happened. Even after a hoyer touchdown, they pan the cameras to manziel on the sidelines.
Agree... it's the circus... and the clowns were in the Tavern...
In the second half they made the switch to run up tempo pistol offense. We started running and only went to the pass off of play action. Steelers couldn't sub and young fresh RBs and our small fast WRs found plenty of tired Steelers players to run around and found space.
On D the Dline just played tough in the 2nd half, put pressure on and started tackling instead of letting Big Ben slip through like he was made of butter.
All of that combined with the fact the Steelers just played their asses off in the 1st half and weren't as hot in the 2nd and you got a great comeback.
Just wish we could've finished it off, last two series playcalling leaves a lot to be desired. Feels like we made the comeback with a certain type of play calling and when it was time to win....switched out of that style of play calls.
Agree... good analysis... In the second half we attacked whether we had the ball or not. Then late... we backed off a notch...
I'd only add that we had some success in our first, first-half series running and play-actioning. Only the hurry-up was missing from that drive. But we never got it going again that half...

I actually went to the game. Worst 1st half of football I've ever seen, EVER.
If Mike Pettines football team is built on toughness...It sure as fuck didn't show in the 1st half. Mike Zimmer's made Mike Pettine's look like a cross eyed armless nomad.
They had the option to kick the field goal or even go for it. They didnt.
The piss poor clock management at the end was Romeoesque.
Not to mention, we passed on Sammy fucking Watkins for the worst rookie CB I've ever seen. He couldn't even hang with 3rd stringers in the preseason. He's getting fucking smoked almost every other play.
And no dickhead...I'm not piling on with Steeler trolls. Im sick and fucking tired of fucking losing and listening to pushovers like you try to justify it. We lost. End of fucking story. Smacked the fuck around and kicked in our face (literally) We choked dick and blew it. This game was ours and we let it slip in true Browns fashion.

It's about GOD damned time the Browns figured out how to make adjustments at halftime. Unfortunately, too little too late. They should have come out like this right from the beginning. Secondly when it was down to the wire they played not to lose or for OT. They had the momentum, and should've kept the foot on the gas. Having said that, while there are no moral victories in football, because the bottomline we lost and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, I am however optimistic about the way the offense looked when they went up tempo. I'm also encouraged about West and Crowell. Seems to me that they found a diamond in the rough with Crowell!
