you guys got understand my position. best friends are gints/steelers/cowboy and redskin's fans (1 friend =3 teams).

to actually have 4 phone calls after the game from everybody i've known since living here congratulating me for the brown's win was craaaazy!

i was on delay without video and my friends int the tavern were better than bernie, bert or oscar.

I got the same calls from PA where I have family. It's great to win, especially a home opener...but there were problems. Anybody that paid attention to some of Hoyers easy throws he butchered that wasn't looking cockeyed at the screen...well I dunno. I'm giving credit where it's due though. Our OLB'ers are finally starting to get home, when they're turned loose...our running game is back, thank god. That's good shit to hang your hat on. The issue with me is that prior to the season starting I didn't think we had a chance in the North...after watching the Pgh game and then the Ravens/Pgh game...my opinion is changing. We might actually have a shot at the North, which means some of this stuff y'all are giving a pass on just cause we won...that won't cut it. We have to tackle, I mean this is football right? If you don't tackle you won't take a French schoolyard let alone the AFC north.

Yup, it's getting obvious Hoyer isn't the most accurate passer i the world.

    We were 1 - 14 since 1999 before this.

It's either 10 or 12 years since that win

10 since we won a home opener.

Then why are you here? Shouldn't you be out celebrating? Firing an AK47 in the air, or popping streamers?

Never understood people running to message board forums to tell others to not talk about the subject of the forum. If I could blow bubbles out of this guys monitor to make him happy I would ... but it's football, no cake, presents or warm puppy kisses, just football pal.

You almost sound like you'd be happier if we lost.

  • Can't we all just get along?

  • No Tate

    No Gordon

    No Cameron

    No Mingo

And some can't enjoy a win against New Orleans!

  • Just two observations for the long run-both related.

    1. When a crowd is really behind you making both teams deaf, you have a winner in the making. Fans see it. Players see it.

    2. #1 means there is hope again and where there is hope, wins are sure to follow. The team gets the message and they share the hope which means they "Play Like Browns" every damn play whether it works or not and no matter the scoreboard. Fans and team are giving their best. As a new Browns fan that's great to see!

  • Wow. I expected to come here and see all praise. "Our DL got manhandled". Many people picked the Saints to represent the NFC in the Superbowl. And people are nitpicking. Wow, I realized we had a depressed fan base, but never though we had this many whiners. I think some of the slower fans are confused because we actually have a legit team and will beat legit teams. They don't get it I guess.

  • Weren't these the exact same people who were bitching about Gilbert, a rookie, after one game? Ugggg, embarrassing.

    BINGO!

Our Browns played full out, full time.

I told someone last week that we have to learn to win & a big part of that is winning against a good team late in the game. That is EXACTLY what took place yesterday. We WON the game & the Team and the Fans were in it every step of the way.

I was there & it was ELECTRIC at First Energy!!

  • I'm pretty new to this message board. With that being said I have to get something off my chest. Some of you so called Browns fans need to quit your pissing and moaning about a bad pass here and a missed coverage there. We just beat one of the elite teams in the NFL and you can't be satisfied with it? Why is that? Is it because Johnny didn't get to play as much as you wanted? Brian Hoyer is the starter so get the hell over it and support the team. This team accomplished something Sunday that on paper you wouldn't think had a snowball's chance in hell of doing. So knock off the negative bullshit. Ok, I feel better now. We have a very, very physical matchup next week and I hope we come out of it injury free. The Crows are some hard hitting SOB's and I believe we WILL make a huge statement to the division with a win over the Ratbirds. Browns 17-13.

  • I guess I'll choose this thread to put my .02 in...

Hoyer did farily well. Better than we have seen in a long time. Some of those throws were frustrating, and scary. That lob with hang time early in the game, and at least two Saints guys in the area...I'm amazed it wasn't intercepted. He did better passing while rolling out against Pittsburgh.

Jimmy Graham is a big dude. Really big. Haden's failure to break up the catch of his first TD...a tiny man trying to reach around that giant and it just didn't work. It seemed they switched coverage up more and had different people on Graham early in the game. But also keeping pressure on Brees was working. When that wasn't happening anymore, more coverage on Graham would've been nice.

Nitpick at this point...but was anyone else frustrated with Crowell's decision to stutter step and juke past the defenders on 3rd and short...instead of just plowing straight to get the first down? I can't recall the exact amount of yards but I think it was 3rd and 4. I also saw a couple of big holes open up, and he didn't burst through like he should. Sure they were only open for a split second, but getting through those in time is the difference between a good RB and a great one.

Can anyone explain to me exactly why JM was put out there for 3 plays? I assumed maybe Hoyer needed a moment to tie a shoelace or something, but then I read he wasn't particularly happy with the calls to put him out there when he was doing his job just fine.

LOVED the fact that we the fans caused Brees to call all 3 timeouts in the first half, and then a false start to boot. Wow the energy and it seemed quite intense where I was near the side opposite the dawg pound.

Questions about Brees: why was it not a safety when he fell on his back in the endzone? My friend sitting next to me said Brees immediately got up on that play and started to point at the ground where the refs needed to spot the ball...and a QB of Brees stature gets listened to. I dunno but then I questioned the lame throw away he pulled off while being sacked, that I felt should've been intentional grounding...but maybe there was a Saints receiver just close enough to be "in the area".

I have recorded the game and plan to rewatch it to see what I couldn't or missed while at the game, but overall no one can complain. Hell it's the first time in ten years for a home opening win, and against a team like the Saints. I don't know how many games I'll be able to handle ending like that and I hope Browns improve more so we don't have to. A few dominating wins in the mix would be ok with me. Ha!

We have lost. We've lost way more than we should even have to absorb in our little minds these past 15 years. You guys act like we've won something, like we fixed something, like everything has been rightened.

We were 3-2 last season at one point. We got giddy, gay and stupid at that point as well.

There is much to talk about. Comb the confetti out of your hair, brush the streamers off your shoulder and put the celebratory AK47 back in the closet, because it's Raven Week and we are 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the Division with much to prove.

  • We are fans here, not players. So I for one will enjoy the win for as long as I can. But I'm also ready to talk about the Ravens as well...so where's the opening post?

  • Brees had stepped up past the endzone right before he was clobbered for a sack

and landed in the endzone, forward progress - no safety.

But we loved it just as much, even without the two points, which would obviously

    had been a great thing....

  • Shit, any game that's decided in less than 3 scores will have a big heaping steaming pile of luck involved.

    Win or lose.

    WSS

  • Lucky or not. I'm glad we won. Now.... bring on the Ratbirds!
