Interesting Options Developing in Browns QB Situation

How about The rookie wage scale?CBA has been in place since 2011 and no change.
If your asking to go back 10 years and pre rookie wage scale you absolutely can't compare the two. Before the new Cba your were financially forced to start a qb his first year. Teams were paying 50+ million for an unproven commodity. Now teams can afford to let a first round qb sit and learn. We have the luxury to have a qb that can win games while the rookie sits, other teams don't so they force him in before he's ready.

IMO thats pretty dead on erie. He can sit for multiple seasons without the team losing their ass financially, which is a win win for us. Nothin but good shit in that regard.

Wait, Hoyer isn't asking for 15m is he? Please Tell me he's not asking for Peyton Manning money.
No one at this point has any clue about what $$ number Hoyer might be thinking.
Completely false. Unless the Browns make the playoffs Manziel will start at some point next year regardless if Hoyer is healthy. PTI spent time today mapping out what everyone, other than Browns' fans realize.
And before I get called a Manzelot or troll, I think Hoyer has been excellent and in no way deserves this situation. I was not a fan of drafting Manziel. The cold hard truth that everyone outside of Cleveland realizes, you don't draft a QB in the first round, especially with the hype of Johnny Football and keep him on the bench for 2 seasons unless you have the guy you want to be your QB the next 5 plus years.
You don't know that yet- as long as Hoyer keeps winning- Manziel sits. Yeah- even for a couple of years. It matters not Hoyer isn't Brett Farve- as long as he's winning. Kurt Warner good will certainly be adequate. I doubt Pettine gives a rat's ass how much hype JF had when he came into the league. His job depends on wins, not public opinion- especially not anything BSPN's Wil-bum and Cornholer think who should start. Really- you're going to toss JFF in there next year over a guy who has say- a 97 qbr at the end of the season? Fucking nuts to even think that.
Reiterating, damn incredible at this point some people thinking we're going to shit- can a guy with a 6-2 record starting, 97 qbr, and tossed 100+ passes until his first int over an unproven rookie. OK, Washington offers us three firsts and a second- well, time to listen to a deal like that.
There's certainly a scenario if Manziel can't beat out Hoyer, should he turn into Johnny Crybaby, Farmer would entertain offers to unload the distraction. Hi Jerry, what you give us? Guess what JFF? You're going to be sitting behind Romo instead of Hoyer.
The only divide I see is Hoyer fans anxious to be rid of competition. I like Manziel, but I am perfectly happy with him on the bench. I am not calling for Manziel to play. We don't have to make that call for 2-3 years.
I say wait a while to see how this play out. How is that unreasonable?
You mean some Hoyer fans- that's certainly a minority opinion.

No doubt, but they are the people posting.

After so many years of mediocre QBs and lousy replacements, I would not even think of trading my third string QB if he showed any sign he can be promising.
Hope the Browns do whatever is needed to keep both QBs in the team. Manziel can grow and get ready to play when it will be the right time.
Hoyer is no Favre, but do you remember how long Aaron Rodgers has been holding the clipboard before proving he was a top QB? I say, let Manziel grow behind Hoyer. And if the man is intelligent, he will forget all the hype and media exposure, roll up his sleeves and work hard to become Johnny Football for real. I think the best thing that could happen to him is having time to grow and develop his skills.

Mary Kay just picked the wrong sport to cover. Her style is more in line with the WWF. I just wish she & her soap opera mentality would disappear.

I think that for the first time in decades the Browns have a great QB situation. A winning starter who can stay a few more years and a man in waiting whom they believe in. "(He's) worth a first-round draft pick,'' Shanahan said before the season opener. "We liked him. I'm glad he's here. I've loved coaching Johnny so far, he's a professional. ....Johnny's been great. I'm excited to see him play, (and I) think you guys will be too.''
Houston would give their left arm for that situation right now.

... but would they give Clowney?

Clowney for Hoyer AND Manziel? In a NY minute. Their coach really liked Hoyer and JM would just be backup icing on the cake. Clowney has been nothing but potential for all but one year in college.
PS-just so you are aware, look what has happened to A&M now that they have hit the brick wall of the SEC West without JM. Should tell you all you need to know about how good he really is.

He asked the question. I answered. Of course it would never happen. Pettine is no fool.

clowney may never see the field for all his 'potential'.
never draft a player whose ankles are smaller than his bottom row of gold teeth.
bortles looks like the true number one of that draft, at least so far.

Not what I meant to ask, but in fact what I did ask...
I meant JM for Clowney... and I think O'Brian's answer for that would be no.
As for A&M... a lot has changed since 2012... it's not just that JM left.
-
Tour-here's to hoping they take a fired Will Muschamp as the new D coordinator. The Snyder factor already existed in 2013 and it's getting no better. JM just kept outscoring people that this year we lose to.
-
I'd say long term him he's worth 5 for $65 million

Love me some Brian Hoyer
-
So we now thinking minimum salary ?
-
Brian Hoyer will not be re-signed here for any large amount of money.
He completely shit the bed today.
If our o-line is going to be this suspect, you need to start Manziel for the mobility factor alone.

once again you flabby piece of shit.
anything more negatory, any more little digs at the team you supposedly support?
yeah there's a lot of blame to go around today but you are just consistently a fucking little cunnie. just STFU already.

Oh well. Too bad the money issue came up this week. It was already pressure enough playing in front of JFF. Add in future pay scale and any normal person might have caved just as badly.
