Breaking: BROWNS CUT BEN TATE
-
5 reasons to cut Ben Tate:
1 - He was the least productive of the 3 good RBs on the roster (YPC: Crow 4.6, West 3.6, Tate 3.1).
2 - He was complaining about PT, thus hurting the team's chemistry
3 - Believe it or not, having 3 RBs who demand carries CAN BE a problem. Too much overthinking who gets to carry and when.
4 - It's past the trade deadline. During the offseason he would bring us nothing in return coming off a year where he lost his starting job to a 3rd rounder and a UDFA.
5 - It opens up a roster spot for Josh Gordon
That must have been enough for Farmer...

"dammit. I go have breakfast, I come back, see this, and was going to post...
and sure enough, it's on a second page already."
It's tough to be first on this board. I swear these guys are constantly typing at their keyboards and can post within 2 seconds after a story comes out.

And I think it was Zombo who mentioned I don't post much, at the ratbird tailgate. You guys are
too quick. I mean, I aleady had my bacon and fried spuds finished, and just
did a couple of eggs, and wham. It's too late.

People think you don't post much? People clearly haven't wandered over to the politics forum

This news is an hour old though

It's got to be a joint decision. Or at least, they looked at the situation and asked themselves, is he worth the negativity he causes? And at a Trent-Richardson-like 3.1 ypc, the answer would be no.

Its probably because his agent kept leaking stuff to the media about his upcoming contract and who he wants off the team. Big time distractions.
Die please
-
He was still mad that we didn't draft Watkins.

"This news is an hour old though "
It wasn't an hour ago, which is the timeline that's being referred to. Duh

Hey I agree with the coaches decisions, if I had guys in my locker room saying "If I'm not the starter I want out of here" and "I'll only play where I'm the clear starter" then I'd want him off the team ASAP. Can't have selfish players like that in your locker room.
Do you genuinely believe that Hoyer has said that to Farmer? That it's not, at most, his agent stirring shit? Because it definitely sounds like a lot of nonsense cooked up by the media that completely contradicts everything we know about Hoyer's persona.
Don't answer - this is a Tate thread and we shouldn't hijack it with other stuff. Feel free to reply somewhere else though.

Please don't fuel anything. We don't need to seem more of this guy, just ignore

Hoyer has said it himself to the media directly.
Yes, he did say he wanted to be in a place that he starts and the team trusts him.. Is that supposed to be bad?

But we were 5-2 with Ben Tate starting at RB.
How many Browns RBs can say they were 5-2 as a starter?
You guys must be furious right? But we were 5-2 with Ben Tate starting at RB.

Even when it's not about Hoyer, it's about Hoyer.
