  • great read. ultimate iron man (no kids, not the superhero).

    first ballot HOF no doubt.

  • Great read! We'll all look back on JT when he's done, and only then will we realize just how good he was................. Some of us see it now, but some definitely do not.

  • What an incredible article. Thank you so much for posting that. He is the epitome of what a "Cleveland Brown" is all about. A First ballot HOF'r. Thank you "JOE" for coming here and giving you everything you have.

  • I just don't understand the argument that drafting a OL man early in the draft. When most teams and (so called experts) say he is worth the pick, they are worth the pick. Drafting high for the OL is worth it. JT is a prime example.

  • those are the same people that think loading up on WRs will solve your franchise's history of losing.

i think the FOs and smart football fans realize that it all begins and ends on the lines. once you have that established bring in the specialty players. sorta like warfare. you have the artillery and air power pummel their lines until they soften them up enough to send the ground troops in.

    just common sense.

Ghoolie and Rich4Eagle are the main culprits that o-line are dime a dozen. anyone that knows anything about football will tell you differently. It takes far more than a 300 pound widebody to play o-line. If that was the case, you could just pick up sumo wrestlers to fill the bill. This year it was painfully obvious how important having Alex Mack was to the run game.

As I told Ghoolie- which was part of his argument- sure, you can find stud o-linemen in the sixth round- as often as you find a quarterback as good as Tom Brady. There's a reason stud left tackles get picked in the first round every year- they prevent your qb from getting killed on a blindside hit.

  • "but ... I love trees. Even going back to when I was in high school and college, we had these big oak trees on campus and I would take pictures of me hugging them."

    ....wtf

Sumo wrestlers are excellent athletes who happen to be fatasses. They load up on carbs and take naps to gain mass, but their strength and agility shouldn't be questioned.

  • But not all Sumos are created equal...

Really nice read... Loved the following bit:

"He then laughed that laugh and smiled that smile, unaware that most of his teammates are not teasing him about his "Ferris Bueller" day. The truest sign of respect for an NFL player is when he gets a perk and his teammates don't mind."

Just seems like a really down to earth guy... with a wife to match.

  • Joe Thomas is not a LT that comes around every year that's for sure, good read. IMO, he's having one of his best seasons so far - not that all 7 weren't good though.

  • Best draft pick we ever made... at least in my lifetime...

I remember draft day when he was on the boat... I knew right then we made the right pick and this guy would be special...

  • Having lived in Japan for over 8 years, I can assure you that Sumo Wrestlers are some bad muthas. Strong as bulls and agile.

Finished the Texans' tape review last nite and out of seven, serious head-to-head match ups with Clowney, Joe went 7 for 7.

Plus the couple times Watt ventured to RDE, he was stoned as well... and got a couple nasty shots from Bito to boot.

  • Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch were on the board in that draft, as much as i love JT, we definitely misfired on that pick.

  • I think when Mike Pettine invented the saying "Play like a Brown"......he should have included this subscript:

    (that means.....play like Joe Thomas).

  • Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch were on the board in that draft, as much as i love JT, we definitely misfired on that pick.

    😐 A 7-year best-in-NFL never missed a snap left tackle for a running back?

Lynch left his first team (that would have been us) and Peterson and all his SB trophies is sitting because he whips kids with sticks.

    Zombo

  • Outstanding, great pick - I wish Joe Thomas all the best when the day comes

and he has to retire. And I hope he gets a super bowl ring before then.

    HOF? hell, yeah !

I admire this guy, ever since he was in the draft, and on draft day he was fishing.

Very, very excellent character. I swear I saw him stuff J J Watt into the turf.

Even in a loss, we have outstanding win at LT.
