  • Dline got better pressure than I expected. Robertson and Kirksey were solid. 2 dropped picks today by Whitner and Skrine. The former a possible pick 6. Sucks losing Gipson.

Hoyer had two bad throws. The first was a good decision but a poor throw. The toss to Gordon I'm not to upset about. Let a playmaker that wasn't to " tear the league up" make a play. Trufant just made a better one.

Hoyer's scramble and big pass to Gordon was as good as you can ask for. Made plays when the team absolutely needed them. Speaking of, great to have Josh back. Those safeties had to stay back and that helps the Oline and running backs. 8-4 is very possible

True... were a number of positives to take away. In the short to midrange, Hoyer was as usual sharper... even with Gordon.

As Pettine worried aloud in his mid-week presser, BH was a little too enamored with his "shiny, new toy." It should have been clear to BH long before those hyper ugly, last 2 INTs that he an Gordon were not on the same page on deeper routes and delayed throws. Quick throws produced no such issues.

Not recognizing the sync issue is on BH.

    @diehardbrownsfan said:

Gordon came off a 10 game suspension and looked at ease. He has a natural talent that you rarely see.

Completely agree... an in sync throw/ route here or there and could have been a monster day for Gordo...

My point was that he had no shot at catching the endzone INT... whether he could have taken other action? Well... the question is of no consequence now...

  • I'm gonna say it just once in this thread, as I'm sure those in the tavern have heard it enough, but Shanahan absolutely sucked today as a play caller. Crow had 12 carries for 88yds and 2 TDs, and should've had 30 for 200 and 3TDs.

Yes Brian threw the 2 horrific passes that were picked, but Shanahan is the one calling the plays, and shame on him for not pounding them into the ground. Great play callers find what works, and they ram it down your throat until you prove you can stop it. Little Shanny has much to learn about game day play calling, and abandoning the run.....I do however like his 1/2 time adjustments, but if the dude calls another game like this, then he can just walk his ass back home after the game.

Great win, and another heart stopping game that keeps us in the playoff hunt.

Shanny put this team in a position to score 42 pts. Austin drops a sure TD catch and Hoyer throws 2 crucial INTs. As much as Stockton annoys with his bench Hoyer threads, the blind faith in a guy who looks shaky at best is also puzzling. The Browns won so we all should be happy but if you've watched today's game and came away with, we should pass it 15 times a game and run it 43 because that's how you win in the NFL, you're crazy. I agree that establishing the run is important but Atlanta and Cincy have horrible run D's. You can't win in the NFL solely on the run game.

Russell Wilson was 26 TD 9 INTs last year, not bad for not throwing the ball.

Top 4 in passing TDs this year Manning, Rodgers, Luck & Brady...hmmm you're right this is a running league

If you said KC that'd be closer but they have yet to really win anything

Seattle was 30th in total passing offense last year. I see you avoided that little stat.

Rodgers plays on a stacked team but won his SuperBowl when Starks emerged and his defense was #2 in the NFL.

Manning is 7-3 almost 7-4 and the donkeys are looking suspect against Miami.

Luck has an OC that will throw until the kids arm falls off. Plus they have NO running game now.

Brady plays on a run first team and experienced his greatest success on a run first team. He was the one example you should NOT have used.

Dude, do you even see the irony in your argument?? Hmmmmm, what do you want to do against teams that do something bad???? Gee, I don't know.

Crow had 12 carries for 88yds and 2 TDs. His first 2 carries went for -2 yds, so his next 10 went for 90yds and 2 scores............Yea, why give him more carries?

Game day 'flow' doesn't care if it's 1950 or 2014. Any good play caller calls what works, and if you don't think that running the ball against the league's worst run defense, with a RB that is averaging 9yds per carry over his last 9 carries is the right thing to do, "just because it's 2014, and it's a QB driven league" then I don't know what to do for you son.

Can we at least agree on some facts.

*Austin should've caught that pass in the end zone +4pts

*Hoyer shouldn't have chucked that in the back of the end zone to Gordon +3pts

That play calling that you're upset about should've yielded 34 points today. So if you're theory is the Browns should run the ball 55 times and throw it 15 we will continue to disagree. If you are saying that is a winning formula in today's NFL we'll continue to disagree.

Not really, the Hawks weren't a passing team. What it shows is that when they went to pass they could be effective off play action. However their gameplan was establish the LOS, feed beast most, and roll out Wilson off of that.

To say that Seattle could sling it around at will is folly.

That is an answer for Rodgers and Manning as neither have won a Superbowl without those two defining factors of a team. You HAVE to be able to run the ball and you HAVE to be able to play defense. It's that simple.

Again, it clearly is the plan now as that what makes San Fran and Seattle successful. You think it was Cam Newton that took the Panthers to a 12 win season?

The gmen won 2 superbowls on the back of an elite Dline and dependable run game.

The Steelers won 2 superbowls with an elite pass rush and a steady QB.

The teams you reference are complete teams with very good QB's. If you put Manning on the Jags that offense is still going to struggle.
