Looked like he was throwing the ball to the O-Lineman.

About where he ranked last season 9th to 11th.

He's just trying to get a rise out of us. He's pulling our leg. He's kidding.

I mean, he couldn't really be serious.

    Could he?

    Really? He might be serious?

We need to send Stan on a vacation with some of the girls from the cheerleader thread. He's lost all perspective!

    Revisiting this play again...

    1. Ngata was RELEASED as our RG was headed to the left to form the blocking for the screen

    2. J.Thomas was faced up with Suggs...which is his job...so he could keep him outside. The fact that Suggs ran past him to the outside should have taken him OUT OF THE PLAY!!!

    3. Wright did EXACTLY what he was supposed to...run to the outside like he is going to block Suggs...then turn inside for the screen!!!

The problem was...DA panicked and threw off his back foot to the OUTSIDE...which then negated the shield JT was providing on Suggs, crossed up Wright...who by the way was wide open and behind the block of the RG (remember, the guy who RELEASED Ngata to get into the screen position). We had 4 blockers and only 2 defenders and DA managed to throw it to a wide open SUGGS!!!

Had DA just stepped up past the rushing Ngata...or drifted left a step or two....and let the play develop it would have gone for HUGE yards. But he panicked and did the one thing you never do...

Was this the one and only reason we lost? No, but don't try to pin this on anyone but DA. THIS PLAY was ALL on him!

I just loved on NFL Prime time last night. They were talking about SEA previous longest play from scrimage, which was Dilfer to Robinson, then Dilfer talked about how he then threw an INT in the endzone that he called the worst pass/INT he threw. Then they got to the Browns highlights and talked about how DAs was just as bad.

It's just not working out. I want a change because it's just not working. You would make a great QB for some other team, DA, but for some reaon it's just not working with this team. It's no one's fault, you tried hard and the team tried hard to play for you.

LOL, DA panicked and threw off his back foot (forget about being pile drived by a 350-lb man) ... if he would have only leaped over a tall building, ran faster than a speeding bullet, and stepped up past the rushing Ngata ... and Wright would have actually been already looking for the ball ... and Joe Thomas would have actually pancaked Suggs (oh wait, that's not allowed, he's supposed to just get between him and Wright) ... anyhow, it was a Great play call and would have went for a huge gain!!!

That all sounds complicated, how about we just stick to Braylon Edwards catching the damn deep ball???

... Or someone making a tackle on Rice?

    Applied to baseball;

If our center fielder wouldn't have dropped that pop-up, scoring two runs, and our firstbaseman wouldn't have allowed that ball through his legs scoring the tying run, and then our short-stop wouldn't have had that throwing error for the go-ahead run - our Pitcher giving up that late insurance run wouldn't have lost the game for us.

But he did throw the INT.

You can't change that Stan. He did it. A horrible decision. A horrible thrown. A panicked throw. An all too familiar throw.

Did DA lose the game? Nope. Should we have had him in a position to throw a critical pick-6? No. However, we did and he did.

He's a problem too. Admit it.

You missed the point. I was saying that because of your laughable understanding (or lack of) on how a screen play works, the responsibilities of OL in it, and what the QB is supposed to do when the DL you are intentionally letting threw gets there.

Much like DA can't throw a swing pass, he can't handle a simple screen play. This probably explains why we see little of the screen or the swing in CLEs offense.

For the record, I never once questioned the rush on Anderson, except that he had to get rid of that football at that very milli-second and it was well before Wright ever looked for the football. Never once did I question that design of that part of that play.

I would have like to have seen Joe Thomas put Suggs on his ass or drive him out of that play. Suggs read that puppy all the way and no one touched him.

I've read all day about how big and bad the Ravens Defense is against the rush and no one blames our O-line for not clearing holes or Jamal Lewis for not making holes, but when DA gets caught by this same containing at-the-line-of-scrimmage defense, all of a sudden there is no mention of Suggs great read-react-and-play, only that DA should-of stepped aside and pierced the might 'D' .... good grief.

    Nice block Joe.

No, what he should have done is not throw the pick.

Just like BE should have caught the pass.

Just like DJ shouldn't have over-pursued on Rice's 60 yarder.

DA's accountable just like everyone else.

It is a screen you are suppose to let the pass rush it, it is the whole point!!!!

    Sure. I'm fine with that.

Just like Z can't shank a punt which leads to points.

Just like our safeties can't get beat deep.

    On and on.

Stan, I think you have a better chance of getting what you want (less focus on the QB's) if you stop provoking. Maybe you're trying to get a big lead on your post count, I don't know.

On a screen DA should be still dropping back or rolling away from it (as WPD already pointed out).

JT was where he was supposed to be and Suggs was out of the play. DA threw the ball to JT and Suggs while Wright isn't even over that far, nor should he be. If JT goes at Suggs to pancake him like he would on a run, he's likely to end up as an illegal blocker down field.

DA threw the ball to Suggs and JT. It was a bad panic throw. Even if Suggs had it sniffed out, which where he was a good throw likely has him tackling Wright from behind after a few yards, then throw the ball at the feet of Wright, not directly to your left tackle and the incoming defender.

Oh, and I was just laughing as they were doing the Browns highlight on NFL Countdown. Showing one of the 3 and outs while CLE was down, and there was DA being Frye and rolling away from not real pressure and right in to real pressure.

Because that isn't what an OLman does on a screen. You are selling pass protection. You don't pancake on pass protection. That's how an OLman ends up past the line of scrimage before the pass and you get flagged for an illegal blocker down field!
